Craftsman 9 Drawer Stationary Storage Unit on Clearance!

Jan 21, 2010 Stuart 8 Comments

If you buy something through our links, ToolGuyd might earn an affiliate commission.

While searching for additional products to add to our Sears & Craftsman Clearance Deals page, we spotted this fantastic deal.

This Craftsman stationary storage unit has 9 Griplatch ball bearing drawers, and is quite spacious at 47″ wide, 18″ deep, and 54-1/4″ tall. Actually, this unit is better described as massive, with phenomenal capacity.

The regular price of this unit is said to be $350, but it appears to be on clearance for $99.97. Shipping to our location is quoted as $65, which bringing the final price to about $165, which still reflects a savings of almost 50%.

What is odd, however, is that we cannot ever remember seeing this unit or others like it in any recent Sears or Craftsman tool catalog. Do you remember seeing any stationary storage units like this?

The shipping cost doesn’t change, even if you order more than one. I bought 2, $277 including tax… not too shabby.

I’ve seen quite a few of these in stores throughout the southeast.

I guess the overhead portion has always seemed a bit awkward to me, but I’m not everyone else.

maybe you could get industrious and hack it off and put on a tabletop work surface?

I’ve definitely seen them before. Can’t remember exactly when, but I have seen them

The product description mentions “pegboard pierced sides with hooks”. I wonder if pegboard could be mounted as a backboard as well.

If anything, the open space looks like it would make for a sturdy (albeit small) assembly area or storage shelf for large bulky items.

I just noticed that myself as well. Thanks for the update!

Interestingly enough, I’ve searched a bit more amongst various online price aggregate sites, and cannot find info about this unit anywhere. It’s almost as if someone found a few units in the warehouse and reactivated a previously discontinued product listing.

The two roll-aways I had also given myself a night to consider were sold out as well. Ah well… hopefully more great deals are on the way.

I’m planning on removing the top of one and using it as either a lathe table for my 1943 Logan 10×24″, or as a base for my chopsaw.

The other is relegated to the basement for house tools…

I don’t quite understand the pegboard, none of the pictures show it, but they say the sides have pegboard and hooks… who knows.

I was fortunate enough to order 2 of these units yesterday. They will replace the home-built 2×4 shelves that have been in use for over 10 years.
