One of the best Craftsman holiday tool deals is back! This Craftsman magnetic parts tray 2-pack is on sale again, for what I’m guessing will be a limited time.
The magnetic trays are collapsible, meaning they pop up when you need them, and stow away when you don’t.
There’s a lot to like about these parts trays!

First, as they pop up, you don’t necessarily have to use these with steel parts. They’re intended for use with ferromagnetic steel parts – screws, bolts, nuts, and such – but I’ve used them for all kinds of stuff.

Second, they fold relatively flat for convenient storage, and I use them in this state as well. If I just need a safe place to put a couple of steel parts or small tools, I don’t bother to lift the side walls.
Lastly, I like how they can be stored on steel surfaces, such as the side of my tool box.
The price makes them this a hard deal to pass up – it’s a very useful workshop accessory at a great price.
Sale Price: $9.98 (at Amazon)
I bought a 2-pack a few years ago, and it’s still going strong, and I bought more last year when Craftsman brought back the Black Friday deal pricing.

The price is regularly around $15 to $18; Lowe’s has it for $18 right now. $10 for the 2-pack seems like a great value.
Craftsman’s not the only tool brand making or selling something like this.
EZRed has a 3-pack on Amazon for $20
OEM Tools has a 4-pack on Amazon for $25
Craftsman’s 2-for-$10 price works out much better, unless you are adamant about getting different colors.

If you want other sizes, Amazon has this 3pc Craftsman assortment for under $32. It’s $40 at Lowe’s.
This post was first published last year, and was updated for the 2024 shopping season with minor edits.

I have a couple of those, and used one just last night. Highly recommended.
Todd
The fact that they collapse is what made me purchase! Thanks for bringing them to my attention.
Shocked
I just checked this at Lowe’s and found there are now three sizes in a set:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN/5013245949
Craftsman #CMMT98371
The description says the magnetic mat can be removed for cleaning.
$39.98 for the set.
Stuart
I saw that too, but it’s only appealing if you absolutely need the larger sized tray.
Amazon has it for a few dollars less – https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4Z8M42X/?tag=toolguyd-20 .
Derek
Ooooo, that’s nice. Would fit in my tool bag a lot nicer than the thick one from Harbor Freight.

I turn wrenches out of a truck for a living. Bought two last black Friday thinking meh maybe I’ll find a use and stuck them on the side of my truck box. Bought a few more sets at Lowe’s this week. They’re way nicer than metal trays. Especially nice to have like 6 on bigger tear downs.
Mark M.
Agreed, I’ve had a set for at least 3 years and they are super handy. I store mine on the lid of my tool cabinet. If you’re ordering/buying as a gift, get two sets! If you get one you’ll end up keeping them lol
Kraig
I bought a four pack ares branded from Amazon. Nice that they fold down but the magnetic strength is weak, on both the in-tray fastener strength and external attachment to metal. These look the same so wondering if it’s any different.
Stuart
It’s hard to say. I’ve only used the Craftsman and have been happy with them.
I’ve seen a lot of lookalike products in this space with varying build quality. OEM Tools makes a parts bowl that looks like Hazet’s. I bought one, and there were enough differences that I sent it back and bought another Hazet.
Mark M.
The magnets on my Craftsman set are pretty dang strong. They snap onto my tool chest and you could take one holding screws or bolts and turn it upside down and none would fall out.

Thanks for asking before I did – I got a 2 pack from tractor supply (JobSmart?) a few years back, and they are terribly weak. I use them because I do like the form factor, but have always griped at their (lack of) magnetism.
I store them flat/stuck to the cover of my electrical panel next to my workbench, and they often fall down from small vibrations if I’m hammering at the vice.
If I can find $25 more dollars to spend at Lowe’s for free shipping, I’ll have to try a set of the Craftsman to see if they’re better. Will report back if I do that!

Thanks for the heads up. Ordered two for me and two for my son.

Stuart, Amazon is now saying -“Consider these Alternative Items….” & there’s only a choice to buy used\returned ones right now, so it appears to be sold out\not available ATM. There is many other sets(2,3,4,6 piece) but none are this cheap per each. I was hoping to use big A’s fast, ‘free’ shipping, but it’s not happening now. I’ll have to go the Lowe’s route & ship to store just to make sure I actually get my hands on a set, cause I know these are gonna be gone real quickly!
Stuart
Thanks for letting me know!
It seems Amazon sold out. It’s worth checking back; given that this is a holiday deal, there’s a good chance that they will restock. It’s also possible that they set aside inventory for Black Friday promotion.
Lowe’s still has plenty, but with a minimum order amount for free shipping.

Showing in stock for me now.
Stuart
(This was post was first published last year, and so the first comments are from that time.)
I left some of the time context and situational comments up for historical reference. The deal sold out a few times last year, and the same could happen again this year.
I checked the price last week, and it was high/regular. It dropped back to the holiday $9.98 price, hence the updated post.
Sometimes I rewrite a brand new post, but I’ll update/republish when saying 99% of the same things.
MattT
Lol. Didn’t notice the dates at all.
Mike
It’s Nov 10, 2024, and Amazon is showing no featured items again. I’ve added it to my shopping list, Amazon is pretty decent at notifying me about items I’ve listed.
Stuart
@Mike, they were in-stock and $9.98 yesterday.
Sometimes deals are pulled back to conserve inventory, other times I have no idea what Amazon is doing or why, or if there’s even a person behind such happenings.
That said, readers bought a lot of these in the past 24 hours. They could have just sold out and are waiting for an inventory replenishment or ETA update.
Tdot77
Yeah Matt this post is from a year ago actually. I ended up getting them at Lowe’s but I prefer Amazon just cause Lowe’s is kinda out of my way, and I’d rather have something small like this just dropped on my porch than driving 15-20 minutes just to pick these up. Also it keeps me out of the store so I don’t buy things I don’t need but can’t just walk past cause I sometimes have issues with buying tools that are a good deal, especially some of the holiday deals that are too good to pass up!
Thanks again Stuart for all your hard work! We all appreciate you constantly finding the cheapest way for us to spend our dollars buying all of the tools! Also thank you for not excessively advertising on your page. I really appreciate not getting constantly innundated with multiple ads & pop-ups all over every time I open your page unlike so many others!
Stuart
Thanks, I appreciate it!
I can’t tolerate distracting ads, paywalls, overlays, or things like that, and so I can’t subject anyone else to it.
Nathan
I have those ez-red ones for a while. Can’t recommend them enough. Like dude above said good to have a few. They hold well
And. Being silicone covered I don’t mind the on painted parts.
Brian M
This, and the Milwaukee pen light 2-pack are the two best small items every holiday.
Doresoom
I bought a pack of these last week to supplement the Husky steel magnetic bowls I already had.
I like that the Craftsman are collapsible, but the magnet strength is a little underwhelming compared to the Husky ones: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-Magnetic-Bowl-HMBOWLN/301293875
Bonnie
Man, if these fit inside their small parts organizer it’d be a great solution. Anyone have both to check if that works?
Larry H
These Craftsman tool trays fit inside the Dewalt 10 compartment shallow pro organizer. When expanded the height is just right. They also fit well collapsed. It can fit 3 across and leaves a 2 1/8” gap.
I’m thinking it might be nice to keep one empty magnetic tray inside to grab as needed for projects.
Marc
Well I was too late, appears to no longer be available on Amazon
Stuart
I’ll keep an eye on it, they could just be waiting for a restock.
MrBrokeIT
Will you be reviewing the new Craftsman 20v screwdriver CMCF610B
Looks to be a clone of the Dewalt DCF601B 12v
Stuart
I’ve got it in for testing. A review might take a while – do you have any specific questions?
MrBrokeIT
Just how the specs compare and the build quality. Tempted to buy only b/c the Dewalt 12v line seems to have become stagnant while there are still plenty of options for the craftsman 20v line and still churning. Want to minimize battery systems, but i love my Dewalt 12v screwdriver
chip hershberger
I bought 3 sets last year, their magnets are not as strong as the good truck crome from years ago.
However they work great on contour’d auto body panels.
Great for teardowns, and keeping bolts sorted.
For longer downtimes, labeled ziplock bags are still the best option.
Raul
Amazon not showing that price
Stuart
Check back – they might restock it. (I’ll be doing the same, and will update this post should that happen.)
Stuart
It’s back in stock at Amazon at the same deal price.
Jorn
Thanks for the heads-up, just grabbed more of these as stocking stuffers. They’re excellent.
Dave in VT
Thanks for another heads up. Sold out last time.
TLDR- Amazon May give erroneous inventory amounts.
Be aware: I tried to buy 4 of these at the Amazon link Stuart provided. It told me there were only 3 left, so I tried to buy the 3, then got a message there were 2. So I bought those, then went back in and it allowed me to buy 2 more.
Stuart
ETA just jumped from late-November to early January.
I suppose that’s better than “sorry, out of stock again, you can’t buy it at the sale price.”
Rzorrok
I ordered them a couple weeks ago with an eta of January. I got them earlier this week.
Stuart
Restocked again, this time with a Dec 9 to 15 ETA.
Patrick
Thanks Stewart, bought one. Have had my eye on it for awhile.
Patrick
FYI Amazon now says mid to end of January for delivery on mine. Not a problem for me though
Mike
Same here: “Arriving Jan 16, 2025 – Jan 18, 2025” I wanted to give a couple for Christmas, but oh well, who doesn’t like getting presents in January?
ElectroAtletico
Harbor Freight has magnetic part holders on sale right now for $0.98.
Yep, you read that right. 98 cents.
Stuart
But are they non-marring and collapsible?
You can get metal parts cups for cheap. I like these better.
Dave
They were out of stock on your earlier November post so I put them in my save for later cart. Purchased them when they dropped back down to 9.99 last weekend! I am a tad disappointed with the weaker magnets compared to some of my other metal magnetic trays. That said they are kinda of cool!
928'er
Out of Stock (again). Second try, still no luck…
928'er
OOS again… Third try 12/3.
928'er
Success! 4th time charmed. 12/10/24
Stuart
It’s not just you – every time I catch it in stock, a couple of dozen more readers get a set. Once everyone’s happy, I’ll stop reposting.
Stuart
Back in stock for $9.98 again!
Shipping ETA is mid-December, but at least it’s orderable again. For now.
Jason
Showing February now…
Stuart
Back in stock with a mid-December ETA again. Hopefully they’re not teasing again.
Woof
Hiking dog bowls are cheaper!
Stuart
But not magnetic. These collapse down and store on the side of a steel tool box or cabinet, and can also hold (smaller) steel fasteners.
Stuart
Back in Stock: $9.98 and “FREE delivery December 19 – 30 for Prime members”
Scotty.
As of 6am Pacific time it’s showing out of stock again.
Hilton
I have one each on top of my drill presses. Makes a great place to keep drill bits on hand when using various sizes on a project.
I also bought a set for my network cabling team as these are great to magnetically snap onto the top of wall mounted network cabinets to catch all the little bits of cut-off cable when patching network cables.
Stuart
Available to order again, with Dec 21-27 ETA.
