CRKT has recently come out with their new El Santo Emergency Trauma Shears Multi-Tool, presumably designed for rescuers and similar users.
The main shear blades have a tapered “porpoise nose” tip, for sliding under clothing to make fast but safe cuts. The El Santo tool also features a removable and user-replaceable “ripping blade,” which is serrated for cutting through corded leather, nylon, or belts.

If need be, the ripping blade is swapped our or replaced using “no tool needed” screws. I suppose that means the screws could be loosened or tightened using a coin or similar “whatever’s on you” screwdriver-shaped object.
Additional features include a carbide glass breaking point, and an oxygen wrench. You also get spring-action ambidextrous and ergonomic grip with ribbed grip.
The shears come with a nylon sheath, but you can also “close the handle around your belt and secure the blade lock.” Looking at the shape of the handles, it looks like they form a loop, and there’s a thumb switch for locking them closed.

For those of you that might be in the market for something like this, how do you think it compares with the Leatherman Raptor?

This looks nice,i like the replaceable blade idea, The Raptor seems more compact? but at the same time more clumsy to use.

I own the Raptor and I have always been a fan of CRKT knives but these shears just look a little too gimmicky for me. For starters I like the way the Raptor folds up easily and fits snugly in its belt sheath. I dont see anything on the CRKT version
that looks like it is better or additional compared to the Raptor except for the spring action that doesnt look like it will last. Cushy grips? Okay maybe someone wants those but not really on my must have list.
Im really not liking the “no tools needed” screws for the ripping blade. My guess is you will wish you had a tool after trying them a couple times. The Raptor has a nice cutting blade that just folds out and locks for cutting a seat belt or some other togher piece of fabric.
Overall, the Raptor immediately grabbed my attention as a must have and the CRKT version I can pass over without a second glance.

I’m not an EMT, however I’ve been on the other side of the gurney more than I would care to admit. I have some experience in that arena. As such, I can tell you anyone coming at me with a sharp, ground blade like on these scissors is going to get a well deserved kick to the groin area. EMT and rescue shears are dull and serrated for a good reason. You can’t see under what you are cutting. Not the best place for a sharpened blade.

I could use those for cutting flex cuffs off of prisoners. They look well made.
