CYBER MONDAY 2017 Tool Deals at Amazon, Acme Tools, Home Depot, and MORE

If you buy something through our links, ToolGuyd might earn an affiliate commission.

Here’s a look at today’s Cyber Monday tool deals! Please feel free to chime in with your own deal finds, in the comments section.

Cyber Monday deals and tool specials typically aren’t disclosed ahead of time, or if they are, there’s very little notice. There’s simply too little time for me to present or discuss the deals as I was able to ahead of Black Friday.

Amazon

CYBER MONDAY DEAL of the DAY on TOOLS – there are some good deals here, definitely worth a look. I’ll try to list them out if/as I have the chance.

Many of their Black Friday deals are still live, but I’m not seeing any Lightning Deals like they had in previous years’ Cyber Monday events.

Acme Tools

Acme Tools Cyber Monday 2017

Save 20% on one item, with promo code CYBERSALE. There are some brand exclusions, a max discount of $150, and exclusions on Black Friday items that are currently still on sale.

Use the promo code at checkout. Shipping is free on $199+ orders.

I want to buy a big ticket item, but the max savings of $150 kills the deal a bit. But if I wait, I’m not guaranteed to save more. In examining all of the deals from the past year that I posted about, most percent-off deals were capped at $200 savings, and only one allowed for $400 savings.

Still, you’ll get a max discount on items up to $750. After that, the discount is fixed at $150, which is still nothing to sneeze at.

Zoro Tools

Zoro Cyber Monday 2017

This is Zoro’s big sale of the season – 20% off orders $150 and up, or 25% off orders $250 or more. There’s some fine print that lists some brand exclusions. There’s a max discount of $2,000.

When I posted about Zoro’s Black Friday sale, there was some griping about their pricing on power tools. I’ve bought all kinds of tools and equipment from Zoro, and paid lower prices on most of those items than I could find elsewhere. But power tools? Nope.

Proto tools, a Roper Whitney hole punch, Keysight power supply, Wera nutdriver set, Akro Mils bins – these are just some of the tools I ordered from Zoro, just to give you some ideas.

And once, I went a little nuts ordering a wide assortment of socket cap screws because they were so damn cheap. For that I had to sort through part numbers on Grainger and cross-reference on Zoro, because it was their house brand, and not the typical USA brands I seek out.

You really have to know what to buy at Zoro to make their deals worthwhile.
It generally is not power tools. But if you are looking for Starrett , Williams, Klein, and Wheeler Rex items – then they might be worth a look.

There are a few power tools that I’ve picked up less at Zoro than elsewhere. Not many though. M18 Fuel Right Angle Hawg Drills, M18 fan, and a few others. They have the M12 & M18 power sources w/ USB always around $30, which is as low as anywhere else before discount, but often out of stock.

Maybe if it was a little easier searching for things I don’t need, I might be inclined to spend more time on their site. The last few things I was going to order, which were some extra impact sockets of certain sizes, had to be ordered in quantities of 2. I need an extra socket, but not 2.

    Reply
    • Stuart

      Nov 27, 2017

It seemed redundant for me to do so, and honestly I’m a little too pooped to post separately about the laser combo too.

I did add links to past discussions:

      https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/dewalt-20v-max-9-tool-combo-kit-deal-03032017/%3C/a%3E%3Cbr /> https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/dewalt-milwaukee-9pc-cordless-combo-kit-deals-12012016/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

It was less money last winter, and the same price in March. The same $595 or $599 (compared to March), or extra $95 (compared to last winter), gets you (2) high capacity battery packs, which most users will benefit from.

The saws are Dewalt’s standard “combo kit versions” are slightly less featured compared to the pricier premium versions of the same saws. I believe that the differences are in the reciprocating saw’s blade holder, and the circular saw’s plate. The drill is an older seasonal model. But it does give you great bang for the buck.

If you want a different choice of tools the “build your own combo” promo is still going strong: https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/home-depot-cordless-power-tool-combo-kit-free-tool-deals-h2017/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

Their brushless 7-tool combo is better for more demanding users, but there’s no indication if or when it will be back in stock again. https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/dewalt-brushless-cordless-power-tool-combo-kit-black-friday-2017-deal/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

Amazon has several “deal of the day” candidates that I’ve been watching closely, e.g. https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/amazon-black-friday-2017-dewalt-cordless-power-tool-combo-kit-deal/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

If you skip or miss out on this deal, it likely won’t return again. If it does, it would be in a late-season “let’s sell our unsold deal of the day remainders” deal. But that’s not guaranteed.

Or you can try to wait for Amazon or another retailer to have a deal on a kit that you feel more confident about.

      Their return policy says:

Simply take your purchase back to any Home Depot and get your money back instantly or exchange for something else. Be sure to bring a copy of your receipt or shipping confirmation email, credit card you used for the item and vaild I.D.

If you don’t mind tying up some money, it might be an option to buy a kit, keep it in its box, and wait to see if a better or more appealing deal comes along.

I’m watching the 9-tool, 4-battery kit on Amazon here.

The 6+1 tool combo kit looks to be awaiting a deal of the day too.

I am also watching a 5-tool brushless combo.

There are no guarantees, only historical data to base predictions on. This kit provides good bang for the buck, but knowing what else is out there, unless this kit is exactly what you want, it might be better to wait.

It’s really hard to say. Last year, maybe the year before, a few readers missed out on a large Milwaukee combo kit deal, and it never came back. I believe some settled on “almost close enough” deals later in the season.

Those Veritas planes were pretty much all sold out by Midnight CST last night. I jumped on right at 11 last night and almost pulled the trigger on a shooting plane. It was gone by 11:15.

You could always buy a gift card and then wait on next year.

BTW – some folks use other planes fro shooting miters. Even a low angle block plane can do – but some folks prefer an iron miter plane (old Stanley #9 or Lie Nielsen variant) or a bevel-up jack plane. In fact while in theory a much heavier dedicated shooting plane should be better to give you the momentum to slice through the end grain – some folks prefer something lighter for repetitive work.

Building or buying one or more shooting boards to go with the plane is a project once you buy the plane. The old Stanley metal shooting board is hard to find but others make boards from plywood:

I’ve been doing my shooting work with a 605 1/2 bedrock and a shop built fixture for a while. I’ve tried both the Veritas and the Lie-Nielson ones at Handworks and thought the LN did a little better job and felt better in my hands but a Veritas at $250 was really tempting. I may end up just buying a low angle Jack and going that route eventually since that’ll do a good job and I can use that plane for other tasks than shooting.

Thanks for the link, been trying to find a way to divide the pack-out system to my liking, maybe I can make these work instead of repurposing my Stanley Yellow ones.

I’ve had the pack-out sitting in the side yard here for a couple weeks, was ready to buy some chunks of plastic to hog out on the mill.

Seems I need to buy some leather for the carry bag to make pockets that will work, right now I have my leather electrical bag sitting in it. The interior pockets almost all seem useless to me.

DW716XPS has that LED cut guidance system I love. DWS779 doesn’t.

You wouldn’t have bought the DW716 without thinking its non-sliding mechanism would serve your needs well. So the DWS779’s sliding functionality might have been an expense you don’t need or want.

I think you should be happy with your purchase. Thew DWS779 is an even better bargain now, but you got a great deal on a saw that will presumably better serve your needs. Plus you have bonus blades and extra cash in your pocket. Be happy. =)

If I were in your shoes, I don’t think I’d have the least bit of buyer’s remorse.

I’m very disappointed in the Zoro deal. I was looking at two wrench sets when you listed the pre-black Friday deal, but the two sets didn’t come to $500 and I had nothing else I wanted at the time. I was very happy when the current black Friday deal came up for 25% off of $250 or more but imagine my surprise when I found that they had jacked up the price on the wrench sets. Maybe it is some sort of pricing algorithm, but it is still frustrating.

      Robb,

I found the same thing while wasting way too much time trying to buy items from them.

On top of them cranking up the prices this week on items I’ve been watching and sitting in my cart, I also found out while shopping that they blocked many items from the discount that were not published on the ineligible list. This made my time on Zoro’s website looking for items to buy an absolute time waster, almost everything I needed was ineligible. If they want have a list of ineligible items, that’s totally acceptable you know what you’re getting yourself into but having massive amount of others items not listed is not acceptable. Luckily I was able to find most of the items on sale on other web stores.

Perhaps Zoro is not doing so well financially so there trying to avoid any discount possible and raising prices before a major sale?

While I did some Christmas shopping – and think I got some good deals this BF and Cyber Monday season (thanks to ToolGuyd, Acme, Home Depot, ToolUp and Tools-Plus) – I’m glad its over.

I got a chuckle from this morning’s radio news that reported on one of the late night comedians who defined Cyber Monday – as a day when you got a great deal on things you didn’t think you needed the day before. There is an element of truth in the thought that buying “stuff” (as the late George Carlin often defined it) just because it is offered at a great price can become an obsession (as in hoarding.)

Thank goodness, most of the “stuff” I bought is being given away or will go to a vacation home – so I will not become victim to one of George Carlin’s admonitions that I can’t go on vacation because I have too much “stuff ” to take and can’t decide what to pack.
