Dewalt 20V Max 5Ah Battery 2-Pack DCB205-2

Over at Amazon, they have Dewalt 20V Max 5.0Ah battery 2-packs on sale for $122.89, down from the regular price of ~$159.

In response to another post, someone mention buying a pair of these Dewalt 5.0Ah batteries for $120 via Craigslist. $123 isn’t too much higher, and it includes a factory warranty since you’re buying from an authorized distributor.

Right now, a 2-pack of 4.0Ah batteries is currently priced at $119, and so for a couple dollars more you get 25% greater charge capacity.

Cordless power tool batteries can be pricey, and so any discount is often much-welcome.

At that price, they have to be counterfeit or not actually 6.0AH. Sorry 🙁

Are they the older ones that use the Panasonic 20700 cells, or the newer ones that use Samsung 30T 21700s? You can usually find the older ones for pretty cheap. Either way, that is a good deal.

They have the same model number. So, “older” DCB206’s were outfitted with Panasonic li-ion cells and on the side of the pack they say 6.0 Ah in yellow writing. While “newer” DCB206’s utilize Samsung 30T cells and say simply 6 Ah (no .0 after the 6) in white writing on the side of the pack.

I was just curious, it really doesn’t make much of a difference, just wondering if they were the older or newer versions.

They do say 6.0 at least in the product picture.

They came today, both work and are legit they are the newer version 6 ah marking

Good price, but for $80 more I can get a charger and 1 tool at Home Depot. Unless I already had every one of the available tools I’d have to go that route. If I just needed batteries and had to minimize expenses then this is the deal to go with.

You still have factory warranty from the date stamp on the battery or power tool even if you buy from a third party. You just won’t have it based on the time of purchase, eg; you bought it “new” 11/2019, but date stamp is 01/2019, they will only honor it from the date stamp.

For several weeks Acme had the DCB206-2, 2-pack of the 20V 6ah batteries for $129. I bought another set of them, but now kinda wishing I would’ve bought a couple more sets. But on the other hand, I’m still waiting for the DCB208 batteries to come out, I guess I’d rather have a higher capacity battery that’s physically the same size as the DCB206.

For Batteries the secondary market is just unbeatable, Ebay Mercari Offerup just keep your eye out and people will sell batteries for far less than Retail from Home Depot or Amazon.

Im 90% sure someone on those apps snaps up any “Defective” flexvolt batteries and either trickle charges them up or warranties them with Dewalt.

In my area, OfferUp is a known outlet for stolen merchandise. eBay is less so but you have to stay alert for knock offs.

I’ve got a Dewalt vacuum with a battery compartment that holds a not so hot DCS9180.

Will one of these (with an adapter) fit in that compartment? I’m curious if anyone can point to somewhere I can discover some physical size info like that…thanks.

No, the 18V adapter only works with compact (e.g. 2.0Ah) batteries.

At HD, if you buy a DCB205-2CK (2 pack starter kit) you get a “free” DCB230-2. I returned the former and got the latter for $66.

Right? I see a lot of people selling these special buys second hand at near MSRP. Now that is abusing the promo. Especially when its on limited stock items.

What is abusing the promo? I saw this and immediately got this same deal. 4 batteries for $199, beats getting one 9.0 ah flexvolt for $150. 5+5+3+3=16 ah for $200. Plus a bag to store all my batteries now.

Buy “something,” get “something else” for free. Then they return the “buy something” part and keep the “something free” item(s) at a discount. For personal use? Not a very big deal. Repeating it x-number of times to resell everything at a profit? That ruins things for customers who want to buy something for personal use and find barren shelves at the store.

I posted about that deal on November 1st, 2018, and then republished it when it returned later in the month. But so far, that deal has not been repeated this year, since then (to my knowledge) or currently. $123 seems to be the best deal around right now.

When you buy these Home Depot deals ,they automatically spread the discount among each items with a price in parenthesis that the item can be returned for.

How in the world you folks can consider a partial return at Home Depot’s stated terms abuse, I cannot understand.

Home Depot doesn’t care about you, and they don’t care if you return a purchase.

Further, if someone wants to buy up promos and resell – more power to them. It’s up to the buyers to decide what’s a deal to them. Again – not abuse.

Now when Lowe’s offers a free tool promo, the free tool actually rings up at $0.00, and it’s actually possible to return the purchased tool at the full price. But that is a bit questionable of course…

Mass-buying deals for resell is absolutely abusing a promo, and it ruins the deals for everyone else who goes to the store or online looking to buy just one for personal use.

      Maybe not abuse. Blatantly exploitive?

The xr kit used to be $300. Then went up to $379(?), last Christmas. Two sanders is well worth $80. But I think the “new lower price” game constitutes abuse and misinformation too. Hike it up $100 for a few days, then Knock it down $20 SUPER MEGA SAVINGS!… As Bubbles would say: GREASY. Other than that, I love Depot, lol.

Mass buying sure, but a couple kits I see no problem with. But more importantly you seemed to suggest returning a partial Home Depot promo deals is problematic, but Home Depot spells out the terms in the receipt as to what they’ll give you back as a refund which implicitly approves partial promo returns.
