Dewalt is expanding their 20V Max lithium-ion cordless power tool lineup with a few new tools this Fall. In addition to their new brushless cordless oscillating tool, 3-speed premium hammer drill and drill/driver, heated jackets, and rotary hammer, Dewalt is soon coming out with a band saw and grease gun.
Information about the two new tools is sparse, but we figured you might be interested in an early heads-up.

First Impression
A major complaint we hear all the time is that Dewalt’s 20V Max cordless tool selection seems limited. The most popular and in-demand core tools, mainly drills, drivers, and saws, have been available for some time now, but a lot of Dewalt 18V users have been hesitant to step into the 20V platform until the line matured a little more.

Dewalt’s 20V lineup still isn’t anywhere as broad as Milwaukee’s M18 40+ tools platform, or Makita’s 18V platform with 65+ tools, but gradual expansion is better than stagnation.

figures, a tool i have been talking to reps about for years in 18 volt. do you have any idea how many farmers, mechanics and heavy equipment guys have 18 volt products i told them. nope, no need or call for them they said. i know at least 10 guys who would have bought one in a heartbeat. i am pretty sure there are more grease guns than concrete vibrators out there.
so now they decide to offer it in 20 volt max that hardly anybody has yet. i am sure as you all know, i think the marketing guys at dewalt don’t get it.

I’ve seen plenty of people with dewalts 20v’s this year. Also there was this one job site where 3 different people including me were using dewalts 20v tools.

Dumb question here…what’s a grease gun used for? Obviously you use it to apply grease, but why does anyone need it? Is it too hard to do by hand? Does a machine give you more accuracy?
Just curious…I’m a software engineer who enjoys hobby woodworking…what is done by mechanics and machinists is a mystery to me.

Grease guns r used to lube up joints in heavy machinery. Like bulldozers backhoes dump trucks etc. doing it by hand can be a bit pf a hassle if you have to do it all the time. My parents have a backhoe and a tracyor that we grease regularly. If the price was right and it had good reviews id think about buying this.

Dewalt hasn’t released any information about the grease gun, but heavy machinery maintenance would be my best guess as well.

Yes, i’m going to order the M18 gun. My backhoe has over 100 zerks. I use air at home, but on the site, i have to do it by hand. They all need grease every 8 hours. By hand it takes about 30 – 35 min. Air takes about 15 min. So i’m guessing a cordless electric would be about the same as air.

You wont regret getting one. I am using a old(real old) Lincoln 12v gun and its a great tool. I would probably upgrade but this thing works great and comes in a really nice blow molded case.
I would say thats the biggest reason I did not get the Milwaukee keeping the grease gun stored in a case is the only way to go, It contains the mess that comes with that tool.. Actually for the money I think I would still recommend checking out Lincoln they have been doing the cordless grease gun thing a long time and the product shows the experience that they have IMO..

All our Cat loaders at work all have automatic greasers on them, all done by Lincoln and they work pretty good

Grease guns are used to lube all sorts of things,automobiles,farm equipment,shop equipment,bearings,joints etc etc. you attach the end of the hose on the greasegun to a zerk fitting. everyone should have one in their garage of some kind. not sure id drop cash on a cordless one,when a manual one is super easy to use and loads cheaper and less stuff to break on it.

Things are looking better for dewalt now that they (Stanley b&d) are focusing their attention on their best brand 20v line. Lots of new tools announced this year for the 20v max and I usually see some of them in stores quickly after they are announced.

A bit off-topic, but has anyone found a GOOD hand pump grease gun? I’ve tried quite a few different ones and I haven’t found any that work well. Most of the time it’s just the end fitting. Either it won’t seal up or it’s so tight it won’t come off. Other times I’ve had issues with the gun itself. One time I was greasing our backhoe with a lever pump and i bent the lever in half. Grease guns are probably the most frustrating tool I own. Any recommendations would be great.

I have used just about every kind of grease gun I could, and finally found what I consider to be the best hand grease gun for the price. In fact, as of right now, it is the only grease gun I will spend my own money on. It is an Alemite dual power pistol grip grease gun. Not sure on the model numbe, but I ger mine at the local CarQuest parts store. It is the exact same gun as the Alemite brand (even has Alemite stamped on it) for a little better price. It is the one that has a little flipper at the end of the pump mechanism you can trip. Set it one way, it works like any other pistol grip gun. Trip it the other way, and it changes the fulcrum point in the linkage to give you more pressure than I ever experienced in a pistol grip gun, although with reduced volume per pump. I have bent the handle on an Ingersoll Rand gun, and still couldn’t free up the zerk, but I set my Alemite to the high pressure setting, and it pushed the clog through. The other thing I like, is that it comes with the best hose end I ever used. In fact, when new, they sometimes grip TOO tight, and I back off the end sleeve of the tip a half turn to a turn so it let’s go of the zerk. A little use breaks it in, and then it works perfectly when tightened. The one I get is the CarQuest Professional model. Open the box, and look at the handle towards the top. It will say Alemite, and have a kind of double notch where it hinges, with one notch labeled pressure, and the other, volume. It comes with both a rigid pipe extension, and a whip hose.
The only gun I ever used that was comparable, was an industrial one at a shop I helped at once, and while it may have been a little stouter, it cost about three times as much.

I was looking for more info on the grease gun and they have it available for pre-order on Acme Tools. I’m not sure how reliable any of the info is, but it says available in December and the price is $249.99. It also says it comes with (1) 4.0Ah battery and charger.

Whats the deal with only 2 1/2 inch cut capacity. i’m still going to need my corded one for 4″ pipe. The red one does 3 1/4? What logic does dewalt have by not even making it comparable? I love my yellow but they need to step it up. I read a dewalt rep blasting the red guys about making a heated jacket and how it will not sell. Now its all the rage. Dewalt marketing team is falling behind. Do we need a new CEO in there? Make us the tools we need. I’ve been invested in the 20v system for two years and they dont have anymore excuses to bring out a full line up of tools.

I just bought an 18 volt one acme tools. they will be delivering them in January. Boomgaars will have them in Febuary. They had the 20 volt ones at the farm show in Lincoln Ne for sale yesterday.
