Amazon’s Buy a Dewalt 20V Max starter kit, get 2 Free bare tools promo is back again.
We first saw a similar promo back in November, and it seemed like a good deal for anyone looking to buy some new 20V Max tools.

As far as I can tell, all of the same tools are eligible for this promo.
For example, I added the starter kit to my cart, and then (3) of the grease guns, priced at $169 each. (2) of those grease guns are taken off the order ($338), and then $101.40 is taken off (20%) and then $50.70 (10%). The final price is then $315.90 instead of a before-discount total of $806.
So that’s $299 + $169 + $169 + $169, and then – $338 ($169×2) – $101.40 (20% of $169 x 3) – $50.70 (10% of $169 x 3).
What a crazy deal. Some but not all of the bare tools are eligible for the stacking promos. There are some other tools eligible for the 10% and 20% stacking savings, but there’s no promo page or official list, you just have to check Dewalt 20V Max bare tools for eligibility. (I did this and added a list at the end of the post.)
Start Here (20V Max Starter Kit)
If you pick 2 bare tools that are eligible for the different promos, you do get that extra discount. The 20V Max starter kit plus (2) of the grease guns results in a final price of $265.20 plus tax. You get both tools for free, and then apparently an added discount of of 10% the price of both tools off the starter kit.

Final Comments
The deal gets a little crazy when you start looking at looking at different combinations. I’m guessing that Amazon might realize this and update the deal eligibilities.
For example, if you add the starter kit and (2) grease guns to your order, and then the circular saw, the final price ends up being $266.90. You get the 2 grease guns for free, and while $99 is added to the $299 total, you get 30% off the price of the grease guns and the circular saw.
So that would come out to $299 + 99 – $131.10, leading to the $266.90 price.
If you were to just add the starter kit and grease guns to your order, the total is $265.20, or $299 minus 10% of $169 x 2. So for less than $2 more you get that circular saw. The same is true for their DCS380B reciprocating saw which is also $99.

piss poor timing – I hope that grease gun is for a review or something because I’ve always been curious about them. I also want the applicator device (caulk gun)

I’m not ordering them, I just used it as an example to test how the discounts all work together.
I wouldn’t review the grease gun, it’s too far beyond my experience and familiarity.
It is my understanding that the kit comes with a standard charger.

Not a review, but I received my grease gun and compact reciprocating saw today.
First impression the grease gun is that it’s heavy! In fact they also include a shoulder strap for it. So this caught me by surprise. This is something that I didn’t see mentioned by all the youtube review that I watch. It’s not unbearable. But it’s definitely heavy. It seem very well built plus for that price I don’t have any regret purchasing it. I might ended up getting the M12 version as well now that I realize how heavy it is…

These sorts of grease guns should appeal to folks who have a yard full of backhoes, excavators and the like that need to be greased regularly. As you say its hard to really test one out around the house.

The grease gun is no joke. We had been spraying liquid lube in the joints of the bobcat for years. 8 or so of the zeros were frozen solid. It was going to cost me $1000+ to have the joins cleaned with new zerks and bushing installed while it was apart.
The Dewalt grease gun busted through all but (2) of the zerks saving me a ton of money and a few years of premature wear in the joints.
I did smoke the gun on the first 2 stubborn joints. My thought is the brushs were not broke in against the stator and burned the brand new brushes slightly. The gun still works flawlessly and the 10,000psi blow off valve still pops open with the last (2) stubborn zerks I have on the bobcat.
My trailers all got serviced and it made the nasty job sooooooo much easier. Usually it takes (2) guys and a grip of paper towels. Not any more.

Ok, mine would be $377 for the band saw, the 1/2″ impact and the jig saw. Not sure if I’ll do it. I’m mostly a home-workshop guy, and cords don’t bother me that much.
I might have gone for it if more of the build-your-own-combo-pack tools were getting the 30% discount. The full-size drill, or the 18-ga offset shear ($200 list, so $60 off the bandsaw!)

I bit the bullet. Jig saw, circular saw and oscillating tool for $310. I get $31 back from Amex though. Figured that was worth it even though I’m just a homeowner slowly renovating. I sure will feel better about cutting out drywall this weekend going cordless than running 100′ of cord.

As Nate said, the discount should be applied at checkout. If you want to skip a step, check on the “calculate shipping and tax” (or something similar) while in your cart. In a desktop browser it appears to the right. The discount and final price should be shown there.

I’ve put the starter kit and four tools from the stacking list all sold by Amazon in my cart. I get the discount on the two tools with the kit but I’m not getting the stacking discount. Is the stacking discount over? Can anyone else confirm? Is there a coupon code for it?
