Bikerdad, from the GJ Forums, pointed out a pretty sweet Dewalt 20V Max combo deal at Home Depot.
About a year ago, Dewalt came out with their DCD771 cordless drill, which is slightly larger, less featured, and less powerful than their regular DCD780 20V Max cordless drill. Then, around Father’s Day, Dewalt came out with a new DCD771 and DCF885 combo kit, which bundled their affordable drill with their basic – but decent – impact driver.

Now, here’s another new combo kit, model DCKTS240C2, which comes with the DCD771 drill/driver, DCF885 impact driver, two batteries, a standard charger, and a ToughSystem tool box. The new combo is priced at $199.

If you can accept that this kit comes with a less featured drill, it’s a good combo at a great price. Home Depot must have negotiated some deal with Dewalt, as these combos are debuting at $220 elsewhere.

Hopefully this is an indication that Dewalt plans to start bundling some of their other 12V and 20V Max tool kits with T-Stak or ToughSystem tool boxes.

I wish that would offer this with the MAX drill. I’m looking to buy a set for my father in law this week. I’m still deciding on which dewalt combo to get him. This may make it into my selection simply for the dewalt tough system. But still very disappointing that they chose that drill for the combo.

All of Dewalt’s 20V Max drill/drivers are really 18V tools. I sometimes forget the “Max” part.
Dewalt probably doesn’t offer more ToughSystem bundles because users typically don’t want to pay more for the tool boxes. With this combo, the special pricing might be because it’s intended to be a high-volume holiday sale item.

Oops I ment to write “I wish they offered this with the XR drills” But I’m sure the package is a marketing deal, it probably helps to move a lower powered drill and to get the average consumer partially invested in the dewalt tough system. Kind of like the first one is free, the rest you can buy. A good marketing sale if I may say.

I think so. Worth it for the impact driver and ToughSystem. The drill’s still a basic consumerized drill, but the bargain helps make this worth looking past.

I purchased the dck240c2 kit from Home Depot at $199.00
When I went to Canadian Tire I saw that they had a dck280c2 kit on sale for 199.99 regular price 319.
When I got home and searched the internet I saw that the impact driver, but the drill was a better model than the one at Home Depot.
What really got my goat was the kit from home depot had a sticker saying it was made in Mexico and the kit from Canadian Tire was made in the USA.
It’s a no brainer what I did.
returned the one from Home Depot and got the one from Canadian Tire.
I thought all Dewalts were made in the USA.

That’s funny. I just saw a large pallet of Dewalt tools in the front of HD that had very large advertising with “Made in America….with globaly sourced parts.” From the sounds of Stuart’s previous posts, Dewalt will be assembling more & more in the US.
