Dewalt teased a photo of their new 20V Max (and FlexVolt) 4-port rapid battery charger, DCB104. It can charge (4) 20V Max 4.0Ah battery packs in 40 minutes.
4.0Ah in 40 minutes? I’d take that to mean it needs roughly 10 minutes per 1.0 amp-hour. Until or unless official specs say otherwise, I’d take that to mean a 6.0Ah battery pack can charge in 1 hour, and a 9.0Ah in an hour and a half.

You don’t have to use it with 4 battery packs. Since there are 4 independent charging circuits, you can use it charge any 1-4 20V Max or FlexVolt battery packs.
I believe someone mentioned that it can be attached to ToughSystem tool boxes, as a topmost unit. It has a carrying handle and built-in power cord wrapping posts.
There’s a little “wireless” symbol in the middle of the charger. Looks like a mounting point for Dewalt’s Tool Connect TAG tracking module to screw down to.
There’s chatter about a $199 price tag, which seems reasonable for a 4-port Rapid Charger. If you just need one fast charging port, the DCB118 sells for $79 at Amazon.
Someone asked whether this is Dewalt’s new portable power station. It’s not. This is just a charger.

Less than the fan cooled charger at 8A, but better than the normal DCB101 style chargers at 4A.

Now that’s cool! It sure has been a long time coming…this will be an excellent tool for those of us that run with or have the goal of an almost exclusively cordless tool setup. Rather than daisy chaining a variety of chargers off of whatever outlets are available, this will enable a compact, not to mention time efficient, charging session!

I love Dewalt corded tools. ie drills, sanders, jig saws, screw guns, planers, scroll saws and miter saws … I really don’t care for the cordless stuff. I’ll leave that to the pros. good stuff just not for me………..

I love the idea of this product and I think the pricing is very fair, the problem is that the power station is just $20 more now. So it becomes a choice of rapid charging vs the ability to be used as a temporary power source. For DIY I have to say that being able to charge four batteries quickly (or even one for that matter) is probably not as important. I always have a few on charge and it is rare that I go through more than two in a single day. I am however disappointed that this and the power station only appear to clip on as the top component in a Tough System stack, I want them to be rack mountable like the radio and the boxes.

Yeah, I’d go for this. Wish it had some USB ports for charging as well, but, that’s not a deal breaker for me. I like it. Seems handy to me.

I wish I could trade my junk drawer full of extra DCB115 chargers in for credit on one of these. As it stands, I have more chargers than I need, but it would be nice to have everything in one package. I was grumpy that all three FlexVolt outdoor tools with the monster batteries did not come with the faster charger. I would have gladly paid an extra $10 (the supposed retail difference) for each.
It is very rare at this point that I wear down enough batteries to have to charge that day, so I am thrilled to have the power station for overnight charging plus additional use when I need it.

What kind of amp outlet would you need to power this? I’d always wondered why there weren’t more rapid chargers instead of all the sequential ones and figured it was due to the draw, maybe it was just more price or heat?

The back of the DCB118 says it draws 3A at 110/120V AC.
I would assume that the new charger would then draw 12A max.

Hi stuart : I’m not to clear about the power station mix-up. In the last few months the people at “dewalt” assured me that the “rapid charger”
[4-gang} power station will not be available any time soon so I ordered {from amazon} the power station {also took your advice} for $219 . The latter is still in the box unsealed, I prefer the fast charger…….now you mentioned of a fast charger for $199……….I feel that maybe I should send mine back and wait for the 4-gang fast charger…………you’re response to this will be greatly appreciated…….victor.

Power Station: Charges up to 4 battery packs and when equipped with 4 battery packs it can power certain corded tools and equipment. It delivers a modified AC output.
This Rapid Charger: Can charge up to 4 battery packs. There is NO AC output.

I just bought the dcb104 4 port charger and it seems the first port doesn’t stop charging. U take a full battery from one of the other 3 ports that stopped charging and put it on the first port and it will just charge forever ? What’s the problem ? And will this burn my batteries ?
