Dewalt has announced two new 20V Max brushless rotary hammer kits, models DCH273P2 and DCH274P2 (UK), which will ship with 5.0Ah battery packs.
The new rotary hammers will be given 18V XR branding overseas, and 20V Max branding when they are released in the USA.

Dewalt says that, compared to the DCH253 rotary hammer that came out in 2013, the new rotary hammers will drill 63% more holes. They can drill more than 90 10mm x 80mm holes per battery charge.
The higher efficiency of the brushless motor, combines with the super charge capacity of the 5.0Ah batteries to deliver what one vendor describes as unbeatable runtime.

The new brushless rotary hammers are welcome additions to the 18V XR/20V Max cordless lineup, and a few comments in our “are you happy with Dewalt’s 20V Max progress post” suggest that we’re likely to see more brushless developments in coming months.

7 lbs on a belt hook seems a little heavy…
Ken
“Utility Hook”
Stuart
That’s what I thought – that it’s intended more as a tool hanger, but Dewalt calls it a “built-in belt hook.”
Joe
I carry more than 7lbs in my tool belt here and there so I don’t see the big deal there. I don’t know if other brands sell standalone work tool belts (just the belt alone with out the side storage pockets) but I bought a dewalt leather belt that is 2” thick/wide…..from my experience with dressing leather belts, leather belts can handle a lot of weight. So a 2” wide leather belt should be enough for more than 7lb of weight.
The bigger issue about carrying weight on your hip is throwing your body off balance and can affect your hip joints if you walk a lot. The solution to that is to balance the hips by using the same amount of weight on the other side. Or you could hook it on the back or hook it on each all side randomly. By like I said, 7lbs does not seem excessive to me. Either way being on a latter drilling holes, the hook can be used for the tool to be hanged on the latter itself.
How ever you call it, it’s a plus in my book. 🙂

Booyah!! Now THAT’S some brushless mojo. And since I don’t have a proper SDS pounder…. hmmmm….
Mahalo
I wants it, but I don’t needs it.

And I suspect much more to come this year from dewalt, rumours of a cordless miter saw is coming as well no eta though

Dewalt launches 1 new tool for 2015. Milwaukee already on their 3rd of 4th
Chris
They finally come out with a charging station that charges more then 1 battery at a time, something dewalt did last year, a rehash of their tape measure, the m12 fuel saw and that vacuum… Only tool there worth anything is the m12 saw
John
So you agree that the came out with new tools
Aellynh
Almost read that as “M12 tape measure”

My 36 volt version is still hammering away. I since fitted it with an onboard dust collector that came out quite a few years later, so unless i start hiring a crew or something, I’m set. Looks like a nice tool, though.

“2.1 joules impact energy”
“In addition to “class-leading performance,” Dewalt says ”
Brand reds brushed version is advertised as having 2.4 Joules blow energy at a higher BPM. The brushless ones rate at 2.7 and 4.3 joules.
mnoswad
impact-only mode !

Why does an american company introduce new products over seas instead of at home?
Ken
It’s launching here too, EUR just prematurely announces things.
Stuart
I figure as much, and expect that there could be an announcement at World of Concrete.
Corey
Zero information to be found on a potential US release… My 253 is getting up there, and I’m anxiously holding out to retire it with this guy. Is there any information regarding a 20v release that you’re aware of since this post?
David Funk
It’s on US Dewalt website!

Timing could not have been more perfect! I was prying the proto rep at our mining expo just yesterday and was told very intently that I’d be seeing it soon.

Why is there no proper carrying case for the D25303DH

Stuart
Maybe to save on cost? Good question, I’ll pass it along to Dewalt.
