Dewalt DCS361 Cordless Miter Saw 20V Max

Well, Dewalt’s FlexVolt miter saw Black Friday weekend deal is dead. The price is now back up to $699, or $799 with a free miter saw stand (Acme Tool).

But… there are good deals on Dewalt’s 20V Max cordless miter saws.

The DCS361 7-1/4″ sliding miter saw is a good saw. It’s compact, lightweight, and has good cutting capacity. It doesn’t have a 10″ or 12″ blade, and isn’t engineered with a brushless motor, but that’s okay. It’s a convenient portable saw and it excels at what it’s designed for.

Right now the bare tool (DCS361B) is on sale for $299 at Amazon, and is eligible for their $25 off $100+ promo. The kit, which comes with a 4.0Ah battery pack and charger, is on sale for $349, and is also eligible for a $25 off $100+ promo.

So, the out the door price at checkout is $324 for the kit, and $274 for the bare tool. The regular prices are $399 and $319 for the kit and bare tool, respectively.

While you might need a larger saw to handle your trim crosscutting needs, or for cutting shelving material, this saw can handle dimensional lumber and smaller trim with ease. I think it’s a very good “small job” saw.

Buy Now(Bare Tool)

I believe the saw has been discounted on Amazon for some time (a few weeks?), but today’s the first time I realized the $25 off $100+ discount stacked on top of the lower pricing.

Have this saw, love it – I’ve used it to cut through cherry slabs around 2.5″ thick, so power is not an issue.

Combine it with the Ridgid MSUV and you are good to go

It was $199 for the briefest time in November, and might still be this price at some stores.

It is, multiple stores around me still have them at $199. The ridgid is superior, I’d say, due to the brushless motor, dual bevel, and not to mention that price includes a charger and 5ah battery. If anyone wants me to pick one up for them and ship it I’d be happy to.

Also, according to Amazon the dewalt is 36lbs vs the Ridgid’s 24lbs.

Yeah, but the DeWalt is yellow…

Sadly I don’t see it anywhere for that price in South Florida… This is the main reason I’m considering Ridgid. Maybe DeWalt will new tool match it next year (yeah right). Especially the weight or even less.

Is it battery only . Seems useless . Where would u ever not have a generator or outlet if u were using a table saw . Skilsaw I can see why that is going battery . Foundation guys can get in the hole and get to work without power . A big table mounted saw like this tho . I don’t get the reasoning for it being battery . Just be a headache . Still gotta charge the batteries after all

It’s not a big table mounted saw at all. It’s quite compact. And for quick trim or flooring jobs nothing beats the convenience and portability of a mini saw like this. Especially ideal for building a tree house in the woods for the kids.

If there was no need, why are cordless miter saws being made in abundance? This is a small saw. It is fantastic, 5.0ah battery and it will likely last all day. have a second battery if worried. Set it up anywhere and go.

The Dewalt comes with a 4.0Ah pack.

A “I can’t use it, why does this product even exist?” mentality is unfortunate, but I see it all the time. It’s common for many if not most people to look at their own use when considering tools and other products. They stop there, not taking into account how other types of users might benefit from a tool or product.

We’d buy lots of tools that were different or outside our experiential comfort zone to try out. Some we decided were not for us, others became mainstay tools and some were favorites of only a few of the crews. It is part of the human condition to have preferences – but we should not let prejudices cloud our thinking to the point of not wanting to try out something new or to dismiss the thought that others might find utility in things that we do not. The marketplace soon sorts out what’s found to be very useful (they become best sellers) and what has little or no use at all (they may be offered at steep discount then disappear.)

If 11.5kg equates to “A big table mounted saw like this” then I truly feel sorry for you.

Charging batteries is not really a taxing and terrible task either.

Sometimes I think this blog must be under a bridge.
