Giveaway of the Day: Dewalt 20V Max or FlexVolt Latest & Greatest Battery Packs

Jan 3, 2017 Stuart 270 Comments

If you buy something through our links, ToolGuyd might earn an affiliate commission.

Our Dewalt FlexVolt tool kit giveaway blew past our expectations, topping out at over 1,000 entries!

We already ran 2 bonus giveaways, and it’s time for one more. In today’s giveaway, the prize will be a brand new Dewalt Li-ion battery or 2-pack of batteries!

Prize Options

Your choice of:

  • Dewalt 20V/60V Max FlexVolt 9.0Ah Battery (DCB609)
  • Dewalt 20V Max 6.0Ah Battery 2-Pack (DCB206-2)
  • Dewalt 20V/60V Max FlexVolt 6.0Ah Battery 2-Pack (DCB606-2)
  • Dewalt 20V Max 5.0Ah Battery 2-Pack (DCB205-2)

You have your choice of 2-pack of the smaller highest capacity battery packs (5.0Ah), a 2-pack of the brand new and slightly larger 6.0Ah battery packs, or a 2-pack of the FlexVolt 6.0Ah battery packs, or a single FlexVolt 9.0Ah battery pack, which like the 20V Max 6.0Ah pack will be slightly larger.

In Simpler Terms:

  • 1x FlexVolt 9.0Ah pack
  • 2x FlexVolt 6.0Ah packs
  • 2x 20V Max 5.0Ah packs
  • 2x 20V Max 6.0Ah packs

(The FlexVolt battery packs or 20V Max 6.0Ah packs might not be immediately available.)

You get to choose (1) prize from the list.

The 20V Max tools will work in any Dewalt 20V Max tool (are there exceptions I don’t know about?), and the FlexVolt battery packs will work in almost any Dewalt 20V Max tool, any FlexVolt 60V Max tool, and any 120V Max tool (paired with another FlexVolt battery pack).

Why? I can’t wait to get my hands on these new battery packs – the 20V Max 6.0Ah pack and FlexVolt 9.0Ah pack – and figure many of you have share the feelings. This seemed like a good bonus giveaway to follow up the FlexVolt giveaway (I’m still working on winner selection).

But the winner might instead want 2 of the slightly smaller 5.0Ah battery packs. Or 2 FlexVolt battery packs instead of a single 9.0Ah. So that’s why there are those options too.

Dewalt DCB206 20V Max 6Ah Battery Pack

The new 6.0Ah and 9.0Ah battery packs have cells of a slightly larger form factor than those in Dewalt’s lower capacity battery packs, making the packs themselves slightly larger.

The FlexVolt 9.0Ah battery pack has a charge capacity of 9.0Ah when used in 20V Max mode, or 3.0Ah when used in 60V Max or 120V Max mode.

Which to Choose?: The 5.0Ah pack is slightly smaller, and presumably lighter. The 6.0Ah is the highest capacity 20V Max battery pack outside of the FlexVolt lineup. The FlexVolt 6.0Ah packs give you high 20V Max capacity but in a larger battery size, and more economical battery power in 60V Max and 120V Max tools if you get the 2-pack. The FlexVolt 9.0Ah battery pack is Dewalt’s most powerful and highest capacity battery pack!

Prize Fulfillment: ToolGuyd will be buying the battery or batteries and will send them to you directly from where we order from. Right now, that means Amazon, Acme Tool, or Lowes, depending on availability.

How to Enter: Comment in reply to this post, telling us about your current Dewalt 20V Max or FlexVolt cordless power tool usage.

Not a Dewalt user yet? Which tools would you buy if you won the giveaway?

You MUST also then fill out this form with your shipping address:

Address Form

Winner Selection: One winner will be selected at random.

Rules: The entry period ends at 11:59pm ET, today, 1/03/2017. The winning comment will be selected, and then I will grab your shipping address info from the form, linked above.

If the shipping information is incomplete, I will select another winner.

The address and shipping information entered into the form will only be used for the purpose of this giveaway. I plan to delete all entries afterwards.

Can’t WAIT for the FlexVolt Blower, SDS Rotary Hammer, and 9.0 AH battery to come out. And did you see the Alligator Saw that they have in the U.K. for FlexVolt? There’s NOTHING stopping that!

I’ll tell you what; since I noticed that FlexVolt came out, I have picked up not ONLY my tools, but I have 4 60V 6.0 AH FlexVolt batteries and 2 5.0 AH 20V XR batteries. But I’d love to have more. Where I work, people let their batteries die constantly and I can’t believe it. Will never happen to me.

I have the oscillating multitool and 3/8 impact wrench in 20v. Just got them for xmas so not a ton of usage so far. I used the OMT to cut drywall and install a powerbridge wire management system for a wall mount tv. I also used it to removed cracked grout from our kitchen backsplash. I used the 3/8 wrench to run 1/2 in lag bolts for the wall mount tv. I want the new brushless driver but can’t justify it as I still have the old 18v NiCad that works.

You pushed me over the edge this Black Friday to update my arsenal with all new Dewalt tools. Your blog helped me confirm every sale to myself, and let me choose the best sales to go with. I wouldn’t have had the confidence to throw $1000 at new Dewalt tools if I hadn’t felt that I was getting doubly that in value. Thank you for helping me spend my hard earned money wisely. I have ZERO buyers remorse, and that’s hardly like me after spending such a large somenof cash.

I think the Flex bolt 6AH batteries would be the best value and push me over the edge to give a hard look at the Flex Volt tool line.

Was ready to leave my Dewalt tools on the scrap heap after all my old 18V batteries finally gave out. A friend lent me his 20V Dewalt drill, and I was blown away not only how powerful it was vs. my old 18, but also how light it was. I was sold, and have since converted almost entirely to the 20V Max platform. Dewalt may not be first to market, but they certainly have one of the most diverse battery platforms out there. I’m anxious to try out the new FlexVolt platform, and look forward to reading the user reviews here on ToolGuyd!

I have a DCD791B that is probably the best drill I have ever used. The power for the size is pretty awesome. Really great ergonomics too. If I were to win I would pick the flex volt 2 pack. I use a grinder all the time. Hours a day some days. I haven’t gone cordless yet because none of the available cordless grinders seamed to have the kind of power I need. If I won a couple of those batteries it would be a perfect excuse to buy the flex volt grinder.

I’m not currently a DeWalt user. If I was to win my first purchase would probably be the power station. I don’t have any outlets on one side of my garage and the power station would be useful for tools that won’t fit anywhere else. That way I wouldn’t have to move a tool to use it. I could just plug it into the power station and do what I need to do. The only other DeWalt tool near the top of my list is the Flexvolt table saw but the capacity and weird blade size is making me hold off on it for now.

I’m not a DeWalt user currently, but I’ve been pondering their brushless drills. I’d go with the 6 AH cells, as they handily beat my biggest Ryobi batteries and would give me a longer runtime (especially when matched with the brushless setup!).

    2x different impact drivers
    Oscillating multi tool
    Drop light
    Circular saw
18 to 20v adapter for my recip saw

And have on the way from amazon
    1/2 impact wrench

Not a Dewalt user because I’ve invested in other battery platforms but I find the Flexvolt items interesting. If I won I’d use having the two 6.0 Flexvolt batteries as a reason to get into the Dewalt line of tools, the cost of kits is one of the reasons I haven’t bought into Flexvolt.

I would use winning as an excuse to buy the Flexvolt table saw and the grinder. I would have to buy a charger of course, but to buy the bare tool table saw, grinder, and charger from Acme Tools would be $637 where the kits would cost me $798. That’s a savings of $161 which puts me around $20 away from buying the circular or reciprocating saw. I could buy three tools for the price of two kits.

Awesome Stuart… Thanks again for the opportunity. Personally, I could use a pair of the Flexvolt 6ah batteries as backup for my miter saw. Love the saw, with the exception of two minor issues. One; even when hooked up to a dust collector, it still spews copious amounts of dust during use, and two; when using the clamp in the left hand mount, it blocks the saw from locking into the far right lock stop position. Other than that, it runs like a champ on battery power… I definitely will not hesitate in procuring more Flexvolt items in the future for my shop.

I do not have any DeWalt cordless tools now, have been debating over DeWalt brushless and M18 for a few months, will pick one of them when my craftsman drill finally gives out (down to 1 battery for the last year). If I win the battery pakcs, I would purchase the DCF887B impact driver and the DCD996 compact hammer drill or DCD791 compact drill kit since my old nicad craftsman is about done. I would use the impact driver with socket adapter for minor auto repair in addition to my air tools, and to build a deck this summer and replace my bonus room stairs, in preparations for new hardwood floors. I would also get a 2 pack of the 2 AH batteries for the compact drill or the kit.

I cycle through all of them on a somewhat regular occasion. More batteries are always a good thing. I do not have any of the flexvolt tools yet, I had thought about picking up the circular saw to start with. So batteries are a toss up of the 1×9.0 Ah pack, or the 2×6.0 Ah pack. New 20V DeWalt tools from Amzn recent 5Ah battery special – thanks again for the heads up and links last November I bought 4 batteries and got four new bare tools. I’m using them all in my landscaping business.

DCS496B 20V Max 18 Gauge Offset Shear – I use for hardware fabric .25~.5″ works like a dream no more scratched up arms or hands and trims of the nubs flush with the vertical wires like its from the factory, (aircraft shears are an ok tool but a pain to use not many options), also it cuts curves and more, as well as corrugated metal roofing. What a dream and fast to boot. Doubt I would have bought it without the special, but glad I did I can use on a lot off projects.

I’m using that and also new DCH133B 20V Max XR Brushless 1” D-Handle Rotary Hammer Drill , and DCG412B 4-1/2” grinder.

The rotary hammer for arbor drills bits in RR ties and then for driving 3′ rebar into the soil to secure them using a SDS adpater bit for 1/2 impact sockets,

I cut 20′ section of rebar down to fit on my ladder rack at the box store and then to size onsite with the new 20V grinder.

I have a Dewalt cordless miter saw that I originally got to help me do some basic woodworking around the house. Now I’m actually starting to use it to help me chop down some firewood we got for winter. The 5.0v battery does struggle (and I’m certain the saw was never intended to cut firewood down) and would like to see if having the 9.0v would make a difference.

I am fully invested in dewalt with 9 20v power tools, 20v outdoor tools and a heated jacket. That said I’d love the 2 flexvolt 6ah batteries so i can start building that platform. I prefer right blade circular saws so I’d start there.

I currently have 4 Dewalt 18V tools. They havew provided many years of great consistant use. Now the chuck on the drill is giving me some challenges and I want to buy a new drill/driver so these batteries give me the drive to purchase new Dewalt products. It’s great that this contest popped up at this time.

I just got into the Dewalt 20 volt platform with the Brushless drill/driver and impact combo set that I use in woodworking. I am thinking about getting the 20 volt blower and trimmer. A set of 6 AH Flex-volt batteries would really kick up the run time.

I have just recently ventured into the DeWalt 20V Max tools, with just 3 of them in my mostly wired collection. Seemed like I got in at the end of that cycle and missed trying for the new Flexvolt system instead. But the cost of the 20V Max series now is at least half of the Flexvolt for a tool and 2 batteries so I got those cordless tools at a much lower cost. I would pick the pair of 6.0 Ah Flexvolt batteries as the would provide longer use for the 20V tools. I am sure there will eventually be Flexvolt tools in my collection.

If I were to win the giveaway for the mitre saw, I would use these batteries for the saw or as back ups if the saw came them already. I would also purchase the new circular saw, jigsaw and brushless drill/driver combo set. These batteries would be used to power those as well. Those are hands down my DeWalt dream set of starter tools for the flexvolt system. I’m the kind of guy who couldn’t have just 1 battery tool. I’d want the others as well and those would be at the top of my list. The corded tools I have would likely be relegated to shelf duty only..

I’ve been historically a Craftsman/Bosch guy for my corded purchases but there’s no doubt that DeWalt is leading the cordless revolution here. When Sears shopping this year they had the DeWalt drill/driver starter kits next to the Craftsman ones. It sure was nice to see the USA Made image on the DeWalt boxes. Global components or not… It put a smile on my face.

I have 6 DeWalt tools in the 20V line, but the biggest battery I have currently are the 4.0AH. When running the compact reciprocating saw and circular saw they don’t have quite the run-time i would like. So this would be great to get the 6AH 20V batteries. I’m a Framer/Carpenter and my current cordless setup includes two DCF885s, DCF887, DCD996, the oscillating multitool, a 20v 6.5″ circular saw. Dewalt’s brushless offerings are beasts on the jobsite. Winning a pair of their 6.0 Flexvolt batteries would be the motivation I need to pick up their Flexvolt 7.25“ saw which would be a godsend when doing punch out or remodels where sometimes it is more of a hassle to run cords everywhere. I have to admit that their 20v saws are great though, but the Flexvolt would definitely handle anything thrown it’s way.

I just used most of my DeWalt 20v Max tools while replacing my in-laws’ kitchen floor. The only non-20v Max power tools I used, in fact, were a B&D Dragster belt sander and a corded DeWalt circular saw. I snapped the handle locking lever off of the sander before even using it, but it worked. My brother and I tore out the cabinets and the old flooring and replaced it with two pieces of 3/4″ plywood and a piece of luan. The end result was about 1/8″ higher than the rest of the floor, which would have been covered by a closeout strip, but my father-in-law was worried about tripping over that, so out came the belt sander to sand the edges even.

Anyway, the DCF886 impact driver and 12v Max screwdriver both drove 2′ wood screws in fine, and the screwgun with collated screw attachment worked perfectly! The final day saw me using the 20v Max jigsaw in lieu of a circular saw, as my brother stayed home that day. The cordless wet/dry vacuum worked exceptionally well too, sucking up a lot of (but nowhere near all) of the sawdust generated by the sander.

On the off-chance I win the drawing, I’d love to have the Flexvolt 6Ah batteries. Flexvolt tools are on my to-buy list, and those would work perfectly for when I get the miter saw, while functioning in my 20v Max tools in the meantime.

I have always been a Milwaukee guy and have so much invested in red I am very hesitant to buy int another battery platform. With that being said I have been debating on the Dewalt flex volt circular saw. The circular saw is the last hand power tool I still need a power cord for. The new Fuel saws would certainly suit my purpose. But I’m really liking the flex volt options. Winning a battery would make buying the tool much easier to swallow.

Been waiting for their 9.0ah flexvolt battery to come out to have more run time on my 20v grinder and also have been wanting to purchase some of their 60v flexvolt line up tools such as their table saw and miter saw but havnt made it a priority over other tools I want yet due to 6.0ah (2.0ah on 60v tools) batteries being the only ones available right now. I use the DCD 996 for home repairs andI add a buffing wheel for marble floor polishing. Once a week I also add a nylon brush for the bathroom tile and grout cleaning ( my justification to the wife for the purchase. I told her that I needed a good drill to keep the bathroom floors and tiles clean with a good battery, since my old cordless Black and Decker wouldn’t last but 10 minutes with two fully charged batteries- hence the DCD 996 *wink*) The extra battery would help. 🙂

I’ve been using my 20v dewalt circular saw with one of the flex volt 6.0. And it is a huge improvement over the 3.0 I had been using. If I make stright cuts it last a long time. At least after lunch. If I’m cutting the whole time pretty much. But if I start doing 45s or like notching post for handrails it drains the battery a lot faster. Like 2 or 3 post and it’s done. I think the new 9.0 Would be better with these types of cuts? But I won’t know untill I get my hands on them. And the 20v 6.0 x has caught my attention too. I’m glad dewalt keeps their batterys compatable with their tools. Instead of making some new battery every year that doesnt work or fit in the tool. Thanks for these Awsome giveaways you do. I have tried the 20v trimmer, and while it worked great for trimming my 3 rental houses the poor motor placement caused it to jam with grass clippings and break within the 90 day warranty period. I hope dewalt redesigns the trimmer because it was so much easier to use than a gas trimmer.

I have been a Dewalt user for years now and was brought to Dewalt by my father who almost exclusively used Dewalt tools for many years in his contracting days.

Now I have dozens of Dewalt tools, and I am convinced I have an addiction.

I just purchased the Power Station and am looking to load it up with some 9.0 FlexVolt batteries for maximum runtime.

Although most of my tools are cordless already, I have several larger tools like the miter saw/table saw/planer/paint sprayer/tile saw that all use 120V and having 4 9.0 batteries would seriously extend the usage of them as a general contractor.

I have the flex volt drill driver combo, dewalt tough system radio, 20v slidingbcompound mitrr saw, 20v grinder, 20v saw, 20v jigsaw, 3 – 20v drills, 3 – 20v drivers, 20v sawsall, 20v multitool, 12″ compound mitersaw as well as several corded dewalt tools. I have posted a partial picture of my “DeWalt wall” on my instagram, @aac1919 if anyone would like to look, and I have also been featured on the dewalt instagram. Good luck everyone

I have found the power on 18v tools to be lacking, specifically, on the circular saw. Found that cutting some items such as boards can be straining on saw. Upgrading tools to allow for flexibility in getting more powerful circular saw, while still not being limited to only using battery on a single tool. Xtra battery would Be great in rounding out depth of resources.

The new Dewalt 60v circular saw is a mean machine. It goes through anything u put it through. Plus the 60v batteries can be charged on any Dewalt 20v charger and used on your 20v tools.

Currently the only dewalt tool is the 8volt gryoscope screwdriver and let meg tell you I love that thing . If I were to win these batteries I would certainly switch over from Milwaukee and go team yellow to the flex volt I would buy the miter saw and the circular saw both cordless.

Just bought by first cordless dewalt tools a few days before Christmas. Always considered myself a makita guy until I really looked at my tool collection. The first tools I bought for myself were th Dw717 and dw745. I had so many other dewalt tools that I didn’t even realize because I was such a staunch makita supporter… sander, biscuit joiner, laser, levels, heaps of hand tools the list goes on. I’m on a mission to go completely cordless and have bought the multi tool, brushless planer, jigsaw, and premium drill/impact kit. I have my eye on 7-1/4 mitre saw and nailers next. Dewalt is killing it. Hope to see some better LED options. Thanks for the give away.

I have a Dewalt DCF899B 1/2 impact wrench. I use it for my automotive DIY project. Since it doesn’t hold much power anymore. I was planning to hack the battery park and replace the 18650 battery inside. I could use the 20V Max 6.0Ah packs for it. Thanks.

I just got my first Flexvolt tool. I got the cicular saw with extra battery and this thing has some real power and I like the bright led light on it. I also have the 20v brushless hammer drill and impact driver which I love, I also have the dewalt heated jacket which is decent. But I have to admit, I still have a ton of dewalt 18v gear I have still yet to update. I’d have to say if this AWSOME website was going to give me something? I love to have the 6ah Flexvolt batteries. Thanks a million 🙂

We build vertical concrete walls, we use the dewalt hammer drill, sds plus, reciprocating saw, oscillating multi and impact driver all day. For building custom forms, erecting forms, and stripping forms we exclusivley use dewalt cordless tools. When I win I want the two 6.0ah flexvolts so I can buy the 60v grinder for cutting rebar, grinding concrete, and sharpening tools without the hassle of dragging 200 foot of cord everywhere I go.

Love my 20v DEWALT tools and can’t wait to get into the flexvolt lineup and mostly interested getting ready to purchase the new flexvolt sds max masonry drill and that 9.0 would be perfect ! To be able to work wirelessly in scaffolding would cut down on so many of the risks and annoyances of working with endless extension cords.

i have ton of 20V tools, and several batteries (first production run) that are starting to decay. My bigger concern is that i ordered the 60v circ saw from CPO with two batteries back in july but haven’t received it yet… so until i actually take delivery of the saw, i am not sure whether i want to switch all bigger batteries to flexvolt and leave the smaller (compact) batteries as 20v, or if there is a place for all 3!

Using my tools to build up the interior of my 8×10 shed with overhead storage, and workbenches on each side. Pegboard is to be put up to dress the walls and ceiling. PVC Tubes and drawers are being installed for tool storage. Thus far it has been a dream in the making although my drill, impact, and saws are exhausted from use. Still have a long way to go to.

Hmm, I didn’t think of that. When there’s a choice, the question is usually “which would you pick, and what would you use it for?”

If the choice is left out of a post, I’ll email and ask. I’ll email and ask anyways in case the preference has changed.

I have the 20v max drill it is my primary back up to my Hilti 12v both a very close in performance. When and if the Hilti dies I may just get another 20v as I am not at the time happy with the ergonomics of the newer Hilti’s with their skinny grip. I am going to add in the 20v max circular saw in to my frequently used tools. I suppose the most sence for me is to add in more 20v batteries since the saw will see heavy use so the DCB206-2 make the most sense right now.

I have switch from Ryobi a couple of years back and now have a full line of the 20V Max. Great move as DeWalt has a full lineup now, including yard tools. Added bonus are the 12V line utilizes the same chargers. The 12 volt saws and drivers are great for tighter areas on ladders and smaller repetitive task where stress to your hands and arms is an issue. Have been recently learning to use the Multi-tool for cutting a variety of materials. Cost are comparable to other brands if you buy sets on sale or deals such as linked on this site. Keep it up DeWalt

Making the move from Sears to DeWalt. Donated my Sears tools that are still working to my sister in law. The Switch is on as some of them have died and I want reliability. That’s why I chose the DeWalt line. Bigger batteries for longer runtimes would put a big smile on this old face. I’m dreaming of moving to the Flex line because it intrigues me.

It was only supposed to be replacing 80 year old kitchen cabinets with nicer used ones. Scope creep became scope leap, turning into a full kitchen and two bath remodel, moving a wall, adding a shower, etc. I graduated from my old DC920 to a compact brushless hammer and a drill, (787 & 777). These batteries would make some sweet icing on the cake.
