Dewalt 20V Max Outdoor Power Tool Deal: Buy a Kit, Get a Free Battery Pack

Dewalt 20V Max Brushless Air Blower DCBL720P1

Big Dan mentioned it on the ToolGuyd Forum, and I would swear someone sent me a direct link via email (sorry, I can’t find it in my inbox to thank you personally): Buy a Dewalt 20V Max outdoor power tool kit, and get a free 3.0Ah battery pack.

Eligible kits include Dewalt’s air blower, string trimmer, and hedge trimmer. The first 2 cordless brushless outdoor power tools were previewed here last year, the hedge trimmer is a newer addition to the line.

Deal Info

  • Dewalt Blower Kit
  • Dewalt String Trimmer Kit
  • Dewalt Hedge Trimmer Kit
  • Dewalt 3.0Ah Battery

Your best bet is to go to the deal info page, linked above, where they ask you to select the desired power tool and free battery to be added to your cart at once.

Adding them separately works as well, just be sure you select the products where Amazon is the direct seller.

Deal ends June 30th, 2016.

I’ve only tested the blower thus far, and like it a lot actually. It’s a great size and weight, has plenty of power, and is easy to use, I also like that it has a built-in stand for placing it down on flat ground. It’s quick to just pick up and use.

The free battery is a lower capacity 3.0Ah pack, but if you were thinking of buying one of these kits anyways, you could hardly complain about the price. I’d consider that 3.0Ah pack to be a spare, for those times when you forget to recharge the included 5.0Ah pack and it only lasts half a task.

Looks like Home Depot has the same deal, though each deal is presented as a separate SKU.

I already have the 20v blower and the 20v trimmer. Love them both. My mother also fell in love with the blower so I gave it to her and bought a compact 20v blower for my shop. Now I am considering this deal to require my own yard blower as the extra battery can ‘t hurt.

I’ve got a 40v Ryobi trimmer that works alright, and my main battery platform is Makita. Still considering this kit to replace the Ryobi, the 2.0ah battery just doesn’t cover my (small) yard, and the 90 minute charge time is ridiculous.

Anyone have experience with both platforms that can advise? I’ve looked at the Makita options, but I’m just not sure I want to drop $250 on the (bare tool) 36v option or $200 for the bare 18v brushless trimmer, and all my existing batteries are 3.0ah anyways.

Go with the “EGO” they have the free battery offer at this time too.

From the Ego reviews, they seem to run the same as the Ryobi (16-25 minutes constant use under heavy load), the extra battery and faster charger would help, but I’m not sure it’s enough to warrant the switch.

I have a ton of makita tools, but use the dewalt 40v which i’;m very happy with. If you like the ryobi and its doing the job just consider another battery or see when they have a tool you need/want with a battery on sale. (excuse to buy that garage door they just released? that thing looks amazing)

As you know the makita’s are expensive for a reason, they’ve never let me down. They sell a gas trimmer and the 18v x2 looks like it uses the same cutter head. So I think their trimmer would be great. I have their 18v x2 blower and when those two batteries run out i just swap in two more since i have so many tools and batteries.

I have both the blower and string trimmer, which all work perfectly for my residential needs. I have the hedger ordered, just waiting for it to arrive.

A little confused. Is the free deal a 2.0ah battery, or an older 3.0ah? It mentions both, thats all.

DeWalt discontinued the 3.0ah a few years ago, other than pack ins in certain deals. They were part of the all black house’d line of original 20v batteries. The current 20v ‘xr’ labeled batteries have the yellow top cap, and come in 2.0ah (the only compact version, replaces the 3.0ah), 4.0ah (full size, replaced the 3.0ah), and 5.0ah (newest, and same pack size as the 4.0ah) capacities. Also I think only the yellow versions have the LED charge level thing, right?

    For reference:
    DCB200: Old compact 1.5ah 20v
    DCB201: Old full size 3.0ah 20v
    DCB203: New XR compact 2.0ah 20v
    DCB204: New XR full size 4.0ah 20v
    DCB205: New XR full size 5.0ah 20v

The trimmer and blower in these kits comes with a 5.0ah battery and regular charger (not the low draw charger included with some other recent kits, such as the 20v miter saw). I’m not sure what is included with the hedge trimmer.

Sorry, that was a typo. The free bonus battery is 3.0Ah.

no problem, it seems they offer those more often than not for whatever reason.

Also just realized my own mistake haha…

          The 2.0 DCB203 battery replaced the 1.5 DCB200, not the 3.0ah

I only see the 3ah, my guess is they are trying to deplete the 3ah inventory?

Where do you see the 2ah? I see 3 in italics at the end of the details.

Also I see another free battery deal with their slightly older 3ah drill set.

The drill set they are selling is the same one I bought Feb 21, 2012 according to Amazon. My drill and driver have seen decent use the past 4 years as a hobbyist, wannabe woodworker, and they and the 3ah batts are still going strong. Drill has seen several hammerdrill scenarios for concrete. If anyone was curious.
