About a year ago, Dewalt came out with a new heavy duty ball bearing tool storage combo, and it’s pretty darned good. It’s sturdy, it’s well-built, and I’m pretty pleased with the configuration. Like other modern ball bearing tool storage combos (such as Milwaukee’s 30-inch combo), it’s designed for a mix of hand and power tool storage.
I have a test sample unit that’s loaded with some past SBD tools, and am in the process of integrating some more of my own tools in there. Aside from being a little hard to find at retailers, I think it’s a great tool storage option.

I’d say it’s more aimed at industrial, professional, and heavy duty home users than your average consumer, and the build quality not to mention the price reflects this. But it doesn’t cost that much. You can buy the combo for less than $1000 these days.

Back to the point. Dewalt is coming out with MORE tool storage options! Details are limited, and pricing and availability information isn’t available yet. But I still thought you’d like a sneak peek.
Shown above, there’s a tool cart and a narrower tool chest and rolling cabinet combo, for those that don’t need or have the space for a 40-inch unit.
The new Dewalt tool cart has 2 lockable drawers, a high side-walled bottom shelf, and a sliding top that spreads to give you access to frequently used tools and supplies.

And then there’s this behemoth of a rolling tool storage workbench. I don’t recall the size, and can’t find my notes, but it’s BIG.
It’s got a different configuration than Milwaukee’s 60″ mobile tool cabinet, and just going by the caster spacings, the Dewalt might be longer. It’s got 15 drawers to Milwaukee’s 11 drawers + 1 cabinet.
Craftsman’s got a huge mobile tool storage workbench out too, and Husky has some medium and large sized ones too. Here’s a quick look at their 52-inch version, and their height-adjustable model recently came out.
So… yeah. That’s all we’ve got so far.
A new tool cart, narrow tool storage combo – or at least narrower than their 40-inch combo – and a great-looking mobile tool storage workbench.

Any country of origin info Stuart? I think hand tool enthusiasts are more sensitive to COO than power tool users, especially as prices hey higher. The rolling cart looks like something I’ll look into. Thanks!
Stuart
I believe they’ll be imported, but don’t quote me on that. I’ll know more once they’re officially announced and a product manager is ready to chat or field questions.
If someone wants USA-made, Stanley Black & Decker has a number of options in their Proto, Lista, and Vidmar product lines.
I’ve been working with a Proto (30-32″?), and it’s a whole different class of tool storage.
Bremon
Forgot about Proto, thanks for the heads up!

Yup, scored a restocked proto tool chest for $330 dollars (Jealous? You should be) I thought my Huskys were nice and now I am ruined.

Will be interesting if they are much better quality than their cabinets that HD carries. Friend and I were just chatting in HD comparing the Milwaukee 30″ $448 I just got to the Dewalt 36″ $598 one in store.
The Dewalt has thinner gauge steel, no soft close drawers, no built in power, and even though its larger the Milwaukee is rated for the same total weight. The Dewalt felt like the cheap homeowner Craftsman.
As my friend said the Milwaukee makes the Dewalt look like a POS.
Nathan
that cart does however look interesting – does the sliding top lock with the drawers?
if the sliding top doesn’t lock then it’s a bit useless. also would be nice if you could slide the top – then put something on top and basically have an extended table.
which is possibly how I’d use it.

Just a thought: could the Dewalt rolling cart at the bottom of this post be a twin of the International Tools VRB-7515 75″ cart, but with slight changes to show Dewalt colors, drawer pulls in line with the Dewalt look and feel and with different casters? The drawer layout looks exactly the same.
I really want one of the VRB-7515’s in blue (to match the signature color of the Park Tool brand bicycle repair tools it will contain). They’re constantly on sale at Sears for $1,399. If Dewalt can sell their version for cheaper, I’ll pounce and give up the blue color if I can save serious $$.

The large roller cabinet is made by SPG International who also makes this exact version for Craftsman, listed as “Craftsman 75″ 15-Drawer Ball Bearing Slides Cabinet With Hard Wood Top, Black” for 1379.00. They offer the same without hardwood top for 1319.00. Many of International’s cabinets are made in Canada, however this “Tech” series does not seem to be made in Canada looking at International’s literature.
International and Craftsman version Specs are: 75″ wide x 24.5″ deep x 39.75″ high with 6″x 2″ Casters.

None of the storage “solutions” I have touched, offered by any of the power tool manufacturers, allow a full size (ie popular) drill/driver with installed battery pack to stand in upper compartment without lid clearance issues. Absolute “duh” from my perspective. Maybe that has been corrected on these 2nd/3rd generation offerings by Big Yellow or Big Red.

Is the dewalt workbench available for purchase and how much is it?
Stuart
No, not yet. Pricing info is not yet available.

This is incredibly lame — to either announce formally or “tease” a product many months before you intend to have it available. Milwaukee did this with their hardtop rolling tool bag, announced at their big event in June or July, and only shipping product in February, 8 months later.
As a marketing professional, I can admit that larger companies sometimes pre-announce products far in advance to “freeze” the market, blocking sales for up-and-coming competitors with better products by getting customers to wait for the catch-up offering from a bigger but slower-moving company they may already have an emotional or financial investment in.
But the offsetting principle is that even if your strategy is to “freeze” the market, you still want to get product out there as soon as possible because some customers will not be able to wait and you’ll thus piss them off, and end up diluting your brand value. That happened to me with the Milwaukee tool bag. I couldn’t wait any longer and ended up buying a Dewalt ToughSystem set which I like so much I’ve already added to (9 total ToughSystem components), and given far more money to Dewalt than I would have paid Milwaukee.
Given that this 75 inch workbench/rolling tool cabinet is either OEM’d by SPG International (as I and another commenter above pointed out) or is made in the same Chinese factory that makes SPG product, there shouldn’t be supply chain issues to iron out. Dewalt should have been able to get product in the stores for Christmas, the prime tool buying season. But the only reference to this product in a Google search appears to be this story almost 5 months ago… crickets since then.
I had put off buying the SPG VRB-7515 box on the possibility that the Dewalt would cost less, but if Dewalt doesn’t give more detail soon about this unit, including delivery dates, I’m going to go ahead and order the SPG/International Tools unit from Home Depot, where it’s on sale for $1399 through the end of February.
Another happy customer (one Dewalt just gained because of Milwaukee’s marketing missteps, ironically) repeat business sale lost due to bad marketing and execution.

I’ve seen products showcased at media events, only to never see the light of day.
One company, not tool-related, was supposed to come out with new plasma-based lighting products. Months passed, then a year. Some time after I stopped checking, they said that they cancelled development of the product.
This happens.
Dewalt’s locking pliers were ultimately cancelled, and they came out with a different design. https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/dewalt-locking-pliers/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E
With these tool storage products, I think that it was more about showcasing them during their 2016 media event.
There wasn’t really an official announcement, just a quick “look what we’re coming out with” display, with their mechanics tools, new jobsite boxes, and new organizer boxes in the same area.
Maybe it was done to “freeze” the market, or maybe there were different intentions. It’s really hard to say.
A lot of brands have been doing this. Makita provided some info about their new circular saw, but won’t answer any questions about it. https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/makita-rear-handle-brushless-circular-saw-xsr01/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E
That’s something they’ve done for certain tools and technologies these past few years – tease about a product 6+ months out before “announcing” it.
Milwaukee uses their media events to showcase recent tools and also tools that are coming out months in the future.
It can be frustrating, because production timetables change, and sometimes there are wrinkles in a design that need to be ironed out.

I hope the dewalt version does come out and is priced compared against the Milwaukee at around $700.
Jesse
Where can I get these…haven’t seen them at any retailers.
Stuart
I haven’t seen them yet either, but the first one was a slow release and was only carried by some online retailers.
It’s possible the line was delayed or is being reworked.

I am holding off on buying the 40″ box waiting for the work bench. Is there any update on this.
Stuart
I haven’t heard anything yet.
Jason
Any news on these? It’s been 10 months. :/
Stuart
I asked for an update, still waiting to hear back. I’ve seen some on Dewalt’s website, but nothing at retailers yet.
Lindsay
The tool cart (DWMT78088) seems to be in stock at some online retailers.
Acme Tools has it for 229.00 with free shipping.

I am looking to buy DWST25294 (52″ wide 9-drawer rolling tool cabinet) and DWST25182 (52″ wide 8-drawer tool chest) and stack them together.
Specs on line, list the heights at 42.5″ and 24.5″ respectively, for a combined height of 67″.
I have low height clearance where this unit will be placed. I am trying to find out what the overall height will be including the casters and the top lid fully open.
Having slow response time from Dewalt product managers specialist, so trying to take a different approach.
