Dewalt DWS780 Sliding Miter Saw Deal Alert

Amazon has a great deal on the Dewalt DWS780 12″ sliding miter saw, just in time for Father’s Day 2025.

This is a fantastic miter saw with great features such as Dewalt’s Cutline blade positioning system, which basically casts a shadow on your workpiece with built-in LEDs.

You get huge cutting capacity as well, up to 2×14 dimensional lumber at 90°, and 2×10 at 45°.

Dewalt DWS780 12-inch Sliding Miter Saw

Amazon Deal Price: $490 with free shipping
Amazon List Price: $669
Claim: You save 27% ($179)

Other Dewalt retailer have the same saw at $649 right now.

Price Check: Acme Tools | Home Depot | Lowe’s

Would I Buy it? Absolutely. I tested the Dewalt DWS780 sliding miter saw a few years ago and it delivered a trouble-free experience. It’s among the best 12″ sliding miter saws I have ever used, and I would not hesitate to buy it for my own use, especially at the current sale price.

With Amazon’s deal, you’re saving roughly $159 compared to the saw’s regular price at other stores at the time of this posting. $599 is a typical price, and sometimes the saw is sold at full price bundled with a free folding miter saw stand.

I feel $490 is a great price. You’re not quite saving as much as Amazon’s “list price” would have you believe, but I still consider this an above-average deal on the best corded miter saw Dewalt makes.

Just a quick deal note for ya’ll

Amazon has Milwaukee 2888-20 grinder for $160. Good price if anybody needs variable speed cordless, brushless grinder.

Milwaukee doesn’t sell to Amazon, and so everything you see there is being resold. It’s basically the same as buying from ebay. A lot of those tools are parted out from Home Depot deals.

Or a flea market. Sure, most is probably legit, but you never know what you’re gonna get.

Ok. I’ll let you know if there is a problem with it. I go though grinders with my business so they never make out of warranty. Not worth my time to deal with issues so I’ll take the discount. If it’s no good from the start back to Amazon it goes…….

Amazon isn’t an authorized Milwaukee dealer so Milwaukee won’t cover warranty repairs as people sell a lot of stolen tools there.

The DWS780 is a great saw – I trimmed my whole basement with mine. But after I was done with “jobsite” use, I decided it had way too big of a footprint for “workshop” use.

The DWS779 is ALWAYS $399. If it’s not $399, it’s either out of stock or in between promo/sales event seasons.

You always say this, but I could not disagree more.

It is regularly on sale for $399, but it is not always $399. The length of time between promos is not negligible.

Some tools go on sale with irregular and limited time discounts, and others are priced to sell at high volume during specific extended windows throughout the year. The DWS779 always seems to be the latter.

I saw a junk article today, advertising it as being 36% off. In my eyes, it’s not.

Speaking of tools that regularly go on sale for holidays, what are your thoughts on the best time to pick up a DW735?

            Jun 11, 2025

            That’s fair.

I just feel that when it’s at its “normal,” non-discounted price, it’s not a ripoff. Can you get it for less if you wait for the sale to come back? Sure.

          • Stuart

            Jun 12, 2025

@MM, November or anytime it’s at the same price as during Black Friday sales

@Dave, it’s subjective, but I view $399 as the “normal” price for the saw, and anything higher as a “we don’t actually intend to sell a lot right now” price on remnant inventory. The pricing and availability patterns tend to support this.

It was on sale at Home Depot for the deal of the day in April for $279. I get what you are saying in not spending more than $399 as it is on sale for that or below about half the year.

Are you sure it was this model? The DWS716 is regularly discounted to around that price. I did spot the DWS779 it for $287 and change in May, and that was an extremely rare anomaly. https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/home-depot-dewalt-miter-saw-deal-051125/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

It’s the one on sale on Amazon.ca too.

I’m seeing conflicting information online. Some are saying that the 779 was updated and the only difference is the shadow cut line. Others suggest the 780 offers 60 vs 45 degree bevel angle, a metal handle, it’s lighter weight, preset angle stops, and other benefits.

The DWS779 does not have the DWS780’s crown stops or built-in XPS LED shadow cutline indicator system. There could be other minor differences, but these are the major ones confirmed by Dewalt. It’s been suggested the bladeS EW different, but I haven’t checked. Most miter saws come bundled with cheap but usable starter blades.

The DWS779 seems designed to sell in high volumes at the $399 promo price.

Between $399 for the DWS779 and $599 or $649 for the DWS780 when it’s at full price, it’s hard to justify the DWS780. Right now with the DWS780 under $500, I think that’s a better and rarer deal. The LED cutline system makes a difference. It’s not always easy to find the parts to retrofit the DWS779. Dewalt used to have upgrade kits for some of their saws, but not anymore.

The crown stops and the LED light are the only differences I could find when I compared the parts lists between the two models. 99% of the parts–the base, motor, blade guard, sliding mechanism, etc, are all the same part nos. I didn’t bother to check the blades they come with.

Yeah. that’s why a cannot stand Amazon and avoid at all costs – dynamic pricing.

They have the DCF964 3/4″ “Big Richard” (haha) impact driver bare tool $298. I might have to.

It’s times like this when I can never tell if or how a post triggered a price bump. This really seemed like a steady deal.
