The combo is on sale for $129, and Amazon says you save $85 compared to buying both items separately.

There’s not much for me to comment on here. This is a great cordless oscillating multi-tool, with a good tool-free mechanism, although it loses its tool-free nature if you want to use other brands’ accessories.
With other brands’ accessories, at least those with a closed-loop connection, you have to use a hex bolt. Not the end of the world, and inconsequential for those who stick with Dewalt or Rockwell accessories.
Dewalt’s oscillating tools, corded and cordless, feel really good in the hand. A few years ago, I gave them “Best Ergonomics” recognition in my Best Cordless Oscillating Tools guide, a roundup that will likely be followed up on in 2018. I don’t want to say updated, because I think that the Dewalt models continue to earn their Best Ergonomics badge.

This tool isn’t my personal favorite, due to its blade change mechanism only being tool-free for certain brands’ accessory styles, but I would still give it a strong recommendation. Hopefully that makes sense.

I haven’t looked in some time, but I recall being unable to find that depth guide for purchase anywhere outside of buying this kit. Since I’ve had to omt for some time, that clearly wasn’t something I was going to duplicate just for a depth guide lol have you had any any encounters with that depth guide being available anywhere outside of the tool+batt+attachment combo?

Never realized that The DeWalt was setup for the guide, I bought the PC 3A corded mega kit last December, the depth guide is awesome, I just wish someone would make a VST with a speed dial.
The PC has super long cord, I almost bought the DeWalt with free OMT recently, if I knew it was setup for the guide I would’ve.

Dewalt parts department sells the depth guide for a few dollars. It’s expensive with shipping, but if you’re buying replacement parts for anything else, it’s reasonable to grab it from them.

Awesome, thanks! I inquired once when replacing a hammer drill aux handle, and the fella said he wasn’t familiar with the omt depth setter, so I didn’t push it. I do remember the frustration of trying to compare kit sub-compontents to gleen what it was even called, though lol

The Dewalt oscillator is the best for carpentry framing,sidewallers…you can use other brand blades that actually are cheaper and work better..Toolguyd is great and sometimes I forget Stuart is not a framer but more a woodshop guy…and shop guys have very different needs then us framers,(remodeler,sidewaller)…i appreciate all the savings and deals that toolguyd gives daily and I learn a lot from other perspectives on this forum including Stuart…

I have owned this Dewalt OMT for several years now and while it is a strong and very capable tool, I find that the ergonomics falter when I turn it on. This is mainly due to the amount of vibration transmitted to the user. When I comes to an OMT I will usually pick up my Fein 12 volt OMT over the Dewalt unit. The Fein has much less vibration transmission and as another plus it’s a bit quieter. While the Fein does have a fatter grip than the Dewalt it is not really an issue for me. On the negative side the Fein does not have a light nor does it come with a depth stop but it is available as an option.

I recently picked up one these bare tool from a Lowe’s promotion. I’m primarily a Makita guy, and own their 2nd gen multi tool, but I’m not in love with it ergonomics-wise. It does the job and that’s about it.
I thought maybe I’d switch over to the Dewalt version as I do own and use their 20vcordless mitersaw as well as the drywall tool and auto feed gun and shopvac.
Would very much prefer the slimmer grip, Brushless and trigger based variable speed.
Decided not to switch simply because I was so invested in blades for both my Fein and Makita.
But with this deal, I’m pulling the trigger. I’ve been wanting to get a slim battery for my drywall gun anyways, and the added blades makes this a no brainer.
My other blades will stay with my corded Fein tool, which I keep for heavy duty or extended use, the bare Makita tool will get sold on CL for $85, the Lowe’s deal bare Dewalt tool will get sold on CL for $80.
Too bad Dewalt didn’t engineer that quick release lever to also disingage the internal screw threads the generic blade Atbor screw adapter threads into like how Fein and Makita’s blade release works. That’d make it perfect.

I am disappointed with the durability of this tool . One of mine is dead after about 3 years and my other one died this week. Hopefully this one is under warranty.

i literally just bought the bare tool for 102 and the kit box for 34.
that means for about the same price i missed out on the depth stop, battery, bag and the the other attachments that came with the tool.
if you need or want this tool it is a no brainer.
yes ……i played with it already so i can’t take it back.
