Dewalt Brushless Impact Driver with Battery Starter Kit

Over at Home Depot, today’s Deal of the Day features a selection of Dewalt bare tools bundled with 5.0Ah battery, charger, and tool bag bundles.

The deals look decent. For instance, there’s an impact driver that features the DCF887 brushless impact driver, for $149. The bare tool is $128 at Amazon, and a (2) compact battery kit is ~$190 at Amazon. The (2) 4.0Ah kit is ~$234. So if you were okay with having a single high capacity battery pack with this impact driver, the deal of the day is a very good buy.

Some of the deals are less highlightable, as they feature brushed motor tools, with the exception of an oscillating multi-tool bundle.

If there were any Dewalt 20V Max tools on your shopping list, check out the deals. All bundles are priced at $149 for the bare tools and 5.0Ah battery, charger, and tool bag starter kits.

  • High torque impact wrench (DCF889?)
  • 1/2″ compact impact wrench (DCF880?)
  • Brushless impact driver kit (DCF887)
  • Circular saw (DCS391)
  • Reciprocating saw (DCS380)
  • Oscillating multi-tool (DCS355)
  • 3/8″ compact impact wrench (DCF883?)

  1. Annoyed on the West Coast

    Jul 3, 2017

Home Depot should rename this to “East Coast Special Buy Of The Day Deal(s)” it’s almost not worth checking anymore, despite waking up around 4:15AM PDT (7:15AM EDT/EST) typically the HD deal of of the is sent to me and the resident of the West coast,HD mails them to us around 5:02-5:37AM local time, kinda of hard to believe that some Item(s) are already sold out when go to check it out, even the play store app, the info shows up after the email. I have a ProXtra acctount and spend in excess of five figures on a regular basis, but I still love a deal, this should be more like Black Friday or done like Newegg. I know HD is located in Atlanta, ( grew up there) but this is getting old, and a bit irritating, the number of items sold out when you just get the email, and a few times all items are completely sold out. I guess that Home Depot doesn’t realize that there marketing can alienate customer, even though they are moving product. I’ve been watching for a cordless band-saw, they are handy but not an everyday tool, but I still watch my business overhead even on equipment I can write off.

One of the items, I believe it was the band saw bundle that I didn’t even list, was sold out when I first checked the deals at around 7:30am ET. Did the saw sell more to people who woke up early on the east coast, or stayed up late on the west coast?

Amazon’s deals change over at 3am ET. Back when they had Friday tool deals and weekend deals, the best deals regularly sold out quickly.

Retailers have to pick a time. When there are limited quantities of an item, there are always going to be “winners” and “losers,” but I don’t think it’s drawn on east vs. west coast lines.

I feel your frustration. Exact same thing happened to me! Home Depot is “supposed” to be reputable company. This reeks of the classic bait&switch policy. Shame on HD.

This is nothing like bait and switch. Bait and switch would be if there was zero product to sell and they automatically tried to upsell a higher priced tool.

With the better deals, there might be some customers ordering large quantities for resale and having their friends or associates do the same.

I’ve seen some items on Amazon and elsewhere that could only be purchased from other retail stores, and not brands directly.

I sort of had my hopes up on the impact wrench till I saw it. I want the new model badly.

That impact driver is a good buy as is the circ saw if you need one. Getting any of them with the battery and charger though is a heck of a deal.

I don’t know when it happened, but it was already sold out by 7:30am ET when I checked and started working on the post.

I put in a order for one of these yesterday and some spare batteries and got an order confirmation back from Home Depot. Today I got an email from them saying essentially “just kidding – you lose – items are on backorder” so they’re cancelling my order.

Home Depot has done this same garbage before to me on other products.

Toolbarn is infamous for that. Quite a few times I’ll get a deal email from them and immediately check out the link only to see pages of out of stock deals.

I’ve completely given up on them as a serious tool buying source because of it.

Reading everyone’s comments sounds exactly what happened to me. Bright & early i always check my HD, Deal(apparently not)OfTheDay. Jumped right on the band saw package. Ordered it. Received a “confirmation” of my purchase, then following day, received a Cancellation. WTF!
HD is “supposed” to be a reputable retailer. It’s 2017 for gods sake, IF an item is NOT available, then take it off the goddamn webpage!
    Classic bait&switch.
