Deal of the Day: Dewalt Cordless Drill & Impact Combo Kit with Free LED Work Light (11/8/17)

Dewalt Cordless Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit with Free Flashlight

Over at Amazon, one of their deals of the day is this Dewalt 20V Max cordless drill and impact driver combo kit which is being bundled with a bonus LED work light for free.

The kit (DCK240C2) comes with the mass market DCD771 drill/driver, a DCF885 impact driver, and DCL050 LED work light. Other inclusions are a charger, (2) 1.3Ah battery packs, and carrying bag.

I wish they offered a similar bundle deal with a different combo – their entry-level brushless drill and impact driver kit. That kit comes with Dewalt’s entry-level brushless drill, a DCD787 brushless impact driver that I only now realized was different from their DCF887 impact, and (2) battery packs that not even Dewalt’s site mentions the capacity for (1.3Ah or 1.5Ah?). Maybe not. The brushless combo, DCK277C2, seems a little less appealing now.

As for this deal combo, DCK240C2, it’s regularly priced at $159. As part of this deal, it’s $152, and that’s including the LED work light.

(The actual deal combo is NOT brushless.)

Not to mince words, if I was buying into Dewalt’s platform, it wouldn’t be with this drill and impact combo. Still, for a standalone drill and impact kit, it looks to be a good value. I’d maybe get something like a gift for a new homeowner, budding DIYer, a new apprentice, or a similar user.

Buy Now(via Amazon)

Deal ends at 3am ET 11/9/2017, unless supplies sell out sooner.

I can see this being a popular choice.

where is either of those brushless. It’s not marked or the picture is maybe wrong? Doesn’t seem like the brushless products. Incidentally though – what’s the 787 impact driver – I wonder if that’s a typo on their page.

Curious what is the grief over the drill – I have that drill. It’s not one of the nicer ones – true. But it has worked well for me for a few years – as long as you’re drilling wood or softer products. It does OK on metal but I have another drill for that.

Considering the drill often sells as the 99 dollar kit – this is alot more for your money. and I agree a great starter Dewalt setup for a home owner or anyone that maybe wants some spare equipment on the cheap.

Sorry my reading is faulty. Your article seems to say the drill is brushless – it is not. and the driver is the older brushed model. still though – good for normal work, but not a great run time.

Sorry. It was hard to balance my thoughts.

This deal looks okay, but I felt that it would be more appealing if it instead featured the other entry-level combo kit.

Then when looking at the brushless kit, a revelation came to light, that its impact isn’t the one I thought it was.

In this deal combo, the light is good, the impact is old but trusty, and the drill is *eh* compared to better options at the same price point.

It’s popular as an entry-level model, but has been shadowed by Dewalt’s newer brushless and more compact entry-level drill, DCD777.

I thought I was clear, but perhaps not, so I added additional clarification to the post.

This deal is NOT brushless. I was saying that I wish it was that brushless combo that was part of the deal, and not the set that is.

The deal combo comes with Dewalt’s original tried-and-true DCF885 impact driver.

When looking at the brushless combo a little closer, I saw that the impact appeared to lack the 3-speed switch that I was expecting from the DCF887. It took some back and forth before I realized that the entry-level brushless combo kit doesn’t come with the DCF887, but what appears to be a single-speed impact that has the model number DCF787.

Nope. The quantities that Amazon might sell… this isn’t a clearance.

Would it be possible to have a post that has a table of these model numbers and release dates? Not even full specs, just maybe ordered from best in class to entry model?

I tried that once, but it was too hard to stay on top of with updates.

Plus, subtle differences are lost in such a format.

But I’ll see what I can do.

Is it possible to keep such a thing on the forum? Like could you set up an editable table?

          Not easily.

Here’s what I tried to do in the past:

          https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/dewalt-20v-max-cordless-drill-hammer-drill-driver-comparison-guide/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

          https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/bosch-18v-cordless-drill-hammer-drill-driver-comparison-guide/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

          https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/cordless-drill-comparison/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

That last one took a lot of coding, and then some more to make it “responsive.” It’s not quite mobile-friendly, but the last I checked, it was at least mobile-usable.

It was an experiment, which is why I only added Dewalt and Bosch models.

The first 2 links show a nicer presentation style and highlights each tool, that last one is easier to update and compare.

In the chart, all fields are sortable, except for speed, and you can even move rows around by dragging (sorry, desktop browsers only).

I’m not sure if Dewalt’s website allows you to compare one model versus another. But when I’ve used this feature on the Milwauakee site (allows you to compare up to 4 tools) it is helpful – but sometimes seems to miss what I’m looking to compare. Maybe its because they only look to highlight waht they consider to be significant differences and/or selling points. I guess that’s also the problem with trying to be both concise and cover all features simultaneously.

A real nice set for someone just starting out , or a new homeowner. They make great tools and I’m a big fan.

I do love the light. Came in handy through Irma and the 9 days of no power following. That’s not enough to buy this bundle but the light is very handy!
