Dewalt DCL043, typically $80, on sale for $65. According to camelcamelcamel the last time it was this cheap was 2016!

The Dewalt DCL043 is a very good spotlight. It’s clearly not a close-up worklight, but works fantastically well for medium and longer distance illumination. This has my most-used cordless LED lighting product, and this price, I’m awfully tempted to buy one or two for personal use.

Hey Stuart, I’ve been wondering if you have any insight into the warranty ramifications of buying a “fulfilled by Amazon” DeWalt product as Amazon itself is an authorized DeWalt reseller according to their site but I don’t know how that applies to 3rd party sellers on their site. There are usually some pretty good DeWalt prices through Amazon 3rd parties and I would like to know how to factor warranty into that equation. Do you have any insight?

Good question, I’ve wondered this as well. Not just with DeWalt but in general I’ve tried to make a point of buying things I want the warranty for only through an authorized reseller (if they beat Amazon’s prices), even if they’re selling through Amazon.

The third parties usually don’t have warranty coverage which is why their prices are lower.

Some brands have strict requirements, but I’ve heard from some users that it doesn’t really matter. What I’m told by brands might sometimes differ from what users might experience.
Generally, ordering from an authorized dealer or distributor is the best assurance against potential warranty issues.
I don’t know about this seller, but some 3rd party marketplace sellers buy from retail, such as from Home Depot Q4 tool promos, and part things out for resale. I have no idea how that would be treated, possibly the same as if you bought the tool on ebay?
This isn’t a camera or other electronic project, a leisure product, or a luxury product. My personal belief is that pro power tool brands will be more concerned with getting a repaired and working tool back in your hand as fast as possible, than where you bought the tool from.

Shut up and take my money haha. I have been eyeing this since it came out but always seemed to miss out on the sales. I would not pay full retail but I am a buyer at $65.
I wish one of the flash light companies would work out a liscene deal with Dewalt for the batteries something like “Surefire powered by DeWalt”. Some of these little flahlights can put out 7,000 or more lumens. (Yeah that’s probably brighter than my headlights on my truck) I would imagine a 12amp hour battery would lengthen the run time quite a bit.
Untill then I stick with this guy.

1000 lumens doesn’t sound very bright for a 20v light. I’ll be patient for the FlexVolt 18000 lumen.

I’d consider this, but I’ve got as many flashlights as I need at the moment.
Even though I own a 2300 lumen 18650 Nitecore flashlight, a 1100 lumen Armytek army-style flashlight and a bunch of smaller keychain-sized lights, I still use my puny 110 lumen Dewalt pivoting head light quite a bit.
Lumens isn’t always the whole story. Certainly something like this light, with it’s large reflectors, will probably be similarly impressive for it’s specs. It’s no Olight Marauder, but there’s inherent utility in a good flashlight that uses the batteries you already have lying around.

I have the Euro version of this light (no silly red bulb). It’s very, very almost stupid bright. At night with low clouds I can light up clouds with the light on high. If you need a very bright light snatch this up at this price.

Is there any way to tell the EU vs US differences, when their part numbers are the same? I didn’t know products sold under the same part number were different depending on country of sale – it seems this goes deeper than just 18V vs 20V MAX. Would love to see a writeup.

Not that I know of. And Dewalt won’t help in this regard either. I asked about why their cordless sander was different and they wouldn’t tell me anything.
With some tools, the differences are due to different safety requirements or user preferences.

Honestly, I haven’t looked into it. Different part numbers might not mean anything, and could only be reflective of different sourcing.
When there are differences, such as with the sander, https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/a-different-dewalt-dcw210-cordless-sander-for-europe/%3C/a%3E , it’s easy to tell what is changed, but it’s the “why” that is sometimes elusive.
The EU version seems to have a lower brightness setting rather than a red LED. All it might take to create that different model is a lower brightness white LED in place of the red one in the USA model.

This light is good for when you’re blowing insulation in an attic as it’s beam is sharp enough you can see through the dust cloud to know how much you’re blowing to the edges. I don’t use it for much else though because it is a very concentrated beam.

Perhapse a bit overstated but here is my reasoning. The street price I usualy see is $89-$96 dollars. 30ish percent off is a pretty good deal on a fairly strictly msrp controlled brand. Admitidley I have missed out on previous sales on this but I have not seen it below $80 on sale (to much for me). There are less noteworthy sale prices on many of the Dewalt and other power tool brands these days. Perhapse due to the maturation of the e-commerce space?
Everyones value proposition is different but for me list price at acme of $166 is “not only no, but hell no.”, $80ish on sale is “Mehhh. Maybe.” and $65 is lowest since 2016 “take my money now or I am going to pay more next time”.
Like everyone I want to get the best deal and it seems harder and harder to do so. (Just one of the reasons we all love ToolGuyd) I got a little excited when the price droped to something I am willing to pay especially on something that I don’t NEED but just WANT.
Now if it was $65 AND a free battery that would deffinatley be “shut up and take my money” haha
