Over at Home Depot, today only they have a deal on this Dewalt DCK277C2 20V Max brushless drill and impact driver combo kit. It’s on sale for $149. It’s currently $200 elsewhere.
I’ve posted about the DCD777 brushless drill/driver before, and in that post I noted that the impact driver, DCF787, is only available in this combo kit. That’s still true. As far as I can see, the DCF787 brushless impact driver is only available as part of this combo kit.

The DCD777 drill and DCF787 impact driver have from the start appeared to be mass market consumer models. Even so, $149 for the combo kit seems to be a good price.
The drill can deliver up to 340 UWO and has a 2-speed gearbox with 0-500 and 0-1750 RPM ranges.
I can’t find specs for the impact driver anywhere. Not on any Dewalt or retailer product pages, or even in a search for a user manual. I would hope that it delivers around 1400-1600 in-lbs max torque, which seems to be the average for professional cordless impact drivers.
The kit comes with (2) 1.5Ah battery packs, a charger, and carrying case.
This is without a doubt an entry-level compact brushless tool kit designed for mass production and a highly competitive price point.
If you ask me, $200 is a stretch. For $200, and if sticking with Dewalt, I’d wait until the holiday season and get the DCD777C2 kit for $99, and the DCF885C1 kit for another $99. That impact driver isn’t brushless, but it’s still a good model. For around the same $200, I’d have 2 tools, 3 battery packs, and 2 chargers.

But for $149, this deal looks much more appealing, especially if you’re a DIYer, homeowner, or perhaps a pro looking for a no-frills compact brushless drill and impact driver combo.

Not bad for a starter kit….personally I’m waiting for the rear handle flex saw

The specs for the impact are exactly the same as the DCF886, the only notable difference is the the collet is the same style as the 887…. I read the box in store last Xmas.

It seems to lack the same LED worklight design as either, instead looking to sport a single LED below the chuck.

I think your right on the light, honestly I don’t recall noticeing any difference there nor seeing anything regarding the light on the package.

I’m pretty sure the DCF787 Impact is just a DCF886 brushless impact thats been rebadged

It is $199 at Home Depot, not $149.

The dcf787 is a good impact driver, it has a brushless motor is the best feature it has. But it also has a one hand operation chuck for ease of bit changes. It’s small and compact. I mean it could have been better if it came with 2.0ah batteries and 3 different speeds, but I’m sure with that it would have a higher price tag. I bought the DCK277C2 kit at Lowe’s for $149.00 on Black Friday. From what I can tell is its that its the same as the dcf886 except for the dcf787 only has one led light instead of three and in the kit the dcf787 didn’t come with a belt clip. But I’m sure that was to cut the cost. But all in all they are basically the same. I added OEM DeWalt belt clips to mine, 2 for the price of $8.00 with free shipping. I would recommend this kit if you can catch it on sale $149 or less. Or if you are just needing a impact driver and want to have a little extra money left over to buy a couple of bit kits.
