Retailers are bundling the compact and powerful Dewalt Atomic DCF850 impact driver with a free PowerStack pouch battery starter kit.
It seems that Dewalt has gone on the offensive in their ongoing competition with Milwaukee Tool, with new promotions on PowerStack-equipped 20V Max cordless power tool kits and bundle deals.
The Atomic 20V Max DCF850 cordless impact driver is a great choice, featuring a brushless motor, short 3.97″ head length, 1825 in-lbs max torque, and 3 speed settings.

I bought one close to when it first came out, and it pairs well with the 5Ah battery I got with it as part of a promo bundle. But, I feel that it is perfectly paired with the compact PowerStack battery, which is what make Dewalt’s current promotion especially compelling.
Home Depot has a bundle kit with the DCF850, charger, and PowerStack battery for $149.

DeWalt also rates theirs at 65 air Watts, which gives an estimated suction of 12″ H2O lift, based of the formula Air Watts = (CFM x H2O lift)/8.5

Personally, having used both, I’d say they’re both good, but I prefer the Dewalt form factor.
They are both very limited with respect to suction power, but I feel that the Milwaukee performs a little better.

Sorry for the delay Andrey. I did buy it, at the time I bought it you needed to add the battery to your cart separately, the site did not automatically add it.
I haven’t received it yet, but the receipt and shipping notice both show the vac and the battery.
You may need to cancel that order and try again, adding both the vac and battery separately. Hope it works out for you.

Big Richard, or anyone else, how does this vac (DCV501HB) compare to (DCV517B) and also the (DCV580H).
Not necessarily spec wise, as I have been disappointed with some vacs that promise good specs. I mean, do you find the suction good and easy to use and empty? I am looking more for my wife’s usage than mine.
I was looking at the DCV517B a few weeks ago but then saw reviews were not as favorable on some websites. The DCV501HB has the best reviews of the 3, but it has so many attachments! In the past, vacs with many attachments get scattered around the home and I can never find the one I am looking for.

Franco, performance and use wise I have no complaints with the 501HB. The 517 is good if you are only ever doing a flat surface, like a bench top or something. Other than that it is kinda goofy but decent performing. The 580/581 are a little more multi-taskers, as they are a wet/dry vac with a decent size capacity. Suction is not the best, but as a portable wet/dry vac, it gets the job done.
The 501HB beats both on paper for airflow (46 CFM vs 39 CFM vs 31CFM), but the 517 and 580/581 should have better suction, not by much. As you pointed out specs don’t always tell the story. The 501HB definitely will be easier to use and empty compared to the other two. It has a simple on/of slide switch and the canister pops off with a push of a button. It even has a belt loop so you can wear it around. I put the DWV9000 air lock end on the hose attachment and use mine as a wearable dust extractor with my ROS and sheet sander.
Some of the common knocks reviews seem to give it is the small canister size, filter loads with fine dust (pretty sure all vacs do), and the tip is not exactly non-marring, so it leave marks on unfinished wood or similar materials.

The 20v max cut off tool and 1.7 PowerStack are the only DeWalt tools in my regular rotation, simply because Milwaukee doesn’t have anything that competes.
When a 3-4aH Forge battery and m18 cut off are released I can drop the DeWalt stuff from the arsenal. I only use Surges, M12 and M18 for impacts. Has the oil impulse from Makita for a bit and liked that as well. All impacts should be designed like these IMO.

Seems like a great deal.
However, for general use I would not buy a regular impact anymore. I’ve owned Dewalt 20V impacts and Milwaukee M12 and M18 impacts. They are all great, but really loud. I’ve since switched to M12 and M18 “surge” or hydraulic impacts. They are slightly slower, but much less vibration and much quieter. The noise difference is significant indoors in occupied spaces. I think for many jobs the tradeoffs are worth it. They may not work well for large lag bolts, but they easily handle 3.5″ construction screws into all kinds of material.

I just received my DCF850 yesterday. I found a great deal at $129CDN (bare tool), so I got it. I haven’t used it yet but I appreciate having tools that are smaller and more ergo friendly, that do what bigger and more cumbersome tools do. I also saw that TTC was very impressed with it, so I am pretty sure to be happy.
I got a 2 pack of 1.7 PS batteries a couple of weeks ago; the DCF850 and the 1.7 will make for an awesome combo.

Not that I’ve noticed. I don’t think I’ve ever used an impact driver that doesn’t have lateral play in the chuck.

Same but the 2 Milwaukees I have had were tighter than the 2 DeWalts I have had.
I never used to care but have taken to using the impact with drill bits more often and in those cases it is more noticeable. Once you get lined up, you are usually good though.
