pretty sure the 7480 is compatible with dado stacks just like the 7490. It uses the same motor and arbor and shows accessory with the same throat plate. YOu can put the same throat plate on the 745 though so grain of salt.
but IIRC when I looked at them the 7480 is basically the same as the 7490 but with a smaller table. by like an inch or 3.
It is a good deal – I got the 7490 which came with the stand and love it. But if the 80 had been sold with the same stand or if the price hadn’t been so close to each other I would have considered it instead.

Dewalt says N/A for dado compatibility.
In a past comment, Ben found a reference mentioning the arbor is not long enough.

I sit corrected – many claim the 80 doesn’t do dado but you do occasionally read of people setting up to about a 1/2 inch on there.
Don’t know I’d use that or not.

I bought ridgids table saw a while back for $300 i believe. it came with a folding+rolling cart as well. And it can use dado stacks. Fantastic saw….. Why they wouldn’t design it to use dado stacks is beyond me.

It’s usually a shortcoming hidden under ‘safety’.
Not sure about this saw, but the 745 is like 35lbs. Considering how much material a stack eats; that’s a lot of leverage on a relatively lightweight machine. If not anchored to a bench, stand, etc., it’s something that potentially could cause issues.
That is usually the excuse you get…Not saying I completely agree with it, but i’ve found it pretty easy to get by without a dado stack on my 745 for years with just a few passes and easy fence adjustments (the fence design on these is easily my favorite aspect), but i also don’t really do any fine wood working.

Sometimes a 6 inch Dado Stack can be the way to go with any jobsite saw that has a long enough arbor bolt. The extra 2 inch diameter going up to an 8 inch stack – gives you greater depth (sometimes not needed) but puts way more strain on the motor. If you only need about a 1 inch deep Dado this might be a good set:

7490 is and the newer model is the 7491. difference is the stand and I think the extension inches. oh and dollars – always dollars.

I just bought the 745 over the holidays and the stand saw separately. I paid about the same as the price for this one. Wish I’d waited. But both are decent saws for the money. The fence is what sold me on it. If this one did accept dado stacks, I’d be bummed though.

This is a good deal. I prefer stands with wheels, though. I have the 745 table saw I could potentially return, but I only spent $229 on it brand new and think it would be wiser to just keep the 745 and buy the DWE74911 rolling stand. It ends up being $60 more than this special but the table saw models are very comparable and the extra $60 is worth it for the better, more versatile stand.
