Yesterday I posted about a Dewalt DWS782 12″ sliding miter saw deal. As mentioned, the DWS782 is similar to Dewalt’s flagship model, DWS780, except for two key differences – it lacks the XPS LED lighting system and comes with a cheaper blade.
The DWS780 is priced at about $600, the DWS782 is $400.

But, here’s a new very good deal to make your purchasing decision even tougher. Now, through 12/31/2014, buy the Dewalt DWS780 12″ sliding miter saw, and you get a heavy duty miter saw stand, for free.
The free miter saw stand isn’t a junky model either, it’s the DWX723, which is a very sturdy and well-regarded stand.
The DWS780 12″ sliding miter saw, reviewed here, is a fantastic model. If you can do without the XPS LED cut line guidance system and don’t mind a cheaper blade, the DWS782 costs $200 less. But if you don’t want to compromise any features, the DWS780 still costs $600, but a new promo means you can buy it and get a free miter saw stand with a retail value of $180-$200.
If you ask me, this is a better deal than the DWs782. I really like the DWs780’s XPS LED module (you’re probably sick of hearing me say this by now), but I don’t quite think it’s worth the $200 premium between saws.
While this deal is going on, for the $200 price difference you get the LED unit on the DWs780, a better saw blade, and a 6-foot heavy duty miter saw stand with extending support arm. Sounds good to me!

You must add both the saw and stand to your cart, and the discount for the free saw stand will appear during checkout. Both must be sold and shipped directly by Amazon.

I would buy something like this from Amazon over Lowes or Home Depot, but if you prefer to pick up the miter saw and stand locally, Lowes is participating in the promo as well. Home Depot might also be, but I couldn’t find any reference to it.
Update: Thanks to Paul for the heads-up about the model number for this promo bundle at Home Depot!
But it's me!
I heartily recommend the XPS LED, too! I added it to the 10″ version of Dewalt’s SCMS and it has made my cuts accurate enough to satisfy my OCD. Tried the laser route and could never get them dialed in properly, especially when switching between trim and framing blades. And the stand is an awesome bit of kit, but know that it has some heft to it.

I’d be interested to see a comparison between this type of stand and the gravity rise big wheeled sort of stand. This stand is portable, as in it can be moved between jobsites easily, and can be moved around a jobsite easily by 2 guys without dismounting the tool, but it isn’t mobile, as in moving it out onto the driveway, using it, rolling it back in, all while the tool is mounted.
It’s upsides are being longer, so it should be more stable when dealing with long pieces of material.

Now, if Bosch did a promotion like this on their Gliding Compound Miter Saw, ooooohh, I’d be in trouble.

Thanks for the demarcation on tools! Yes, you HAVE inspired me to get to work on my place, and it’s good to know what tools will help me.
You do such nice and creative work and your blog is just so dang pretty and well laid out.

Does anyone have any idea when this deal will happen again?

Home Depot are offering this deal now. Just bought the DWS780 and DWX723 for $599.
