New Dewalt Truck Foam Pickup Bed Liner

Joe alerted us to a new Dewalt truck bed liner product that the brand had posted about via social media.

The new Dewalt 3/4″ truck impact liner is said to be a foam lining that’s made from “a combination of thermoplastic and polypropylene fiber materials.” It’s said to provide “ultimate protection” and the “harshest treatment.”

The new Dewalt truck bed liner is said to be UV resistant and can help protect against chemicals such as bleach, diesel fuel, and battery acid.

It also has an anti-skid thermoplastic composite surface on the bed floor and tailgate. An integrated “tailgate gap guard hinge” keeps dirt and dust from getting to the truck bed.

Discussion

Sure, why not?

Some of the comments on social media are quite critical, but I don’t see what the problem is. I also don’t have a truck, but I’d think more choices are always a good thing.

3/4″ of plastic foam seems thick to me, but as I mentioned this isn’t my wheelhouse.

The way it’s described, I’m visualizing a ToughSystem-like construction foam tool box material as the liner material.

Update: Looks almost a little fuzzy to me, like the texture of acoustic fabric:

Since my son used my truck to haul concrete, I’d be interested in this for my truck.

I’m surprised this isn’t under Craftsman. The Craftsman truck bed tool boxes are everywhere around here. They’ve been popular as long as I remember.

How much? Spray in bed liner costs around 500 from wear I’m from and has a lifetime warranty. This thing might be tough but not for life of the truck.

Looks like a rebranded Bedrug. I have had a Bedrug for 5 years I love it. Stuff does not slide around and it provides some cushion. I have hauled all kids of stuff in in without any problems.

That’s exactly what it is. How much you wanna bet they pay bedrug a licensing fee?

IF this is made by BedRug, there are two possibilities:

        1) It’s marketed by BedRug who would pay a licensing fee to Dewalt, or
        2) It’s made by BedRug for Dewalt as a Dewalt product, in which case BedRug would be an OEM in the relationship and not a licensor or licensee.

Having had 3 trucks with a spray liner, vs the one that had a drop in liner, I just couldn’t get in on this, even if it was made by the mighty red tool brand, instead of yellow. Spray liners don’t get loose and vibrate, and like Diego said, they usually have a lifetime warranty. I wonder if Corey will get one, though, and send me a smug video.

Nah, I’m not a fan of power tool branded products that aren’t actually tools. Not even a fan of power tool branded tools that aren’t power tools, really lol As bed liners go, I’m of the mindset that you should abuse whatever the truck came with until it’s not useful, and then get a spray in. And a video would require use of social media, or me being much more generally social, neither of which are really my mo. I do think they make a spray in, in red though lol you could always stencil the Milwaukee logo and the word “revolutionary” into a red truck bed haha

My real concern when I linked to you with this is… Where did they pull this from? In the sense of “Since when has THIS been available?”

I hear their truck boxes are awesome, from those I know to have them. Obviously the ToughSystem and TSTAK systems have recently been somewhat Truck-Ready, and here in Canada, they are running a contest called “Tough in the North” where you can literally win a Truck… So… That DeWALT is interested in flatbed trucks is no surprise, there’s a dedicated DeWALT rep who lives or works in the city I’m in, and you can see his DeWALT-Branded GMC flatbed with cab cover from five streetlights away.

I’m not surprised, shocked, or insulted that they would offer this item, or at least release it into the wild, so to speak… My ACTUAL shock is… When did they make this happen? If it’s a bit bubbly, or fuzzy, or wrong somehow… I won’t fault them for it. As far as I know, this is Version 1.0 of a new Truck Liner system… But it has come out of nowhere, and I’m genuinely wondering what the secrecy was for… One would think this would be a natural extension of the TruckBoxes, and the Built Tough branding… But does anyone know if they’ve acquired any truck bed liner companies in recent years? Any partnerships of any kind? Because, surely, these can’t be one-size-fits-all items made overseas… This HAS to be USA made, or sourced, right? Having one installed would require an expert installer for the product, wouldn’t it?

So… As I said to Stuart, in Summary… HUH?????

I guess that the 3/4″ inch cushion could be ideal for modern F150s with their aluminum beds.

I would have to see it in person before I judge but I do own a bed rug. It is basically plastic outdoor carpet bonded to foam backer. Bed rug also has a strictly foam product that’s touted as more durable. Not sure which one DeWalt is selling?

I will say my bed rug is very durable for what it is (carpet). If your hauling cement blocks not so much. If your hauling around tool boxes no issues. When hauling really rusty, abrasive or greasey/dirty items I use a tarp or use the dump trailer.

Certainly not for everyone. But I think it has its place. Pick up truck accesories is a huge market potential. Makes sense dewalt would play in that market even if its just a rebrand.

Are there any testimonials about the wear factor with a product like this? I would think that durability would be an issue for something like this. Any sort of carpet or foam ain’t gonna last long for people who use their truck bed for work. I highly doubt that this stuff can handle daily use and abuse. Products like this are for people who buy a truck but never load their truck bed. I’d like to see pictures of it after a contractor like myself has had in a truck after a month and I bet it would be torn up. Besides, it’s really fkn tacky to put carpet on the exterior of a vehicle. Carpet is for the interior.
