Home Depot Holiday Dewalt Bit Sets

I came across the following Dewalt screwdriver and drill bit deals at the local Home Depot, as part of their 2014 holiday tool deals display:

Update: Home Depot has reduced the prices of these bit sets. Most are available online for home delivery and in-store pickup or shipping, and some stores still have supplies available for in-store purchasing.

16-piece black oxide drill bit set for $9.88 $7.00

46-piece drill/driving bit set for $19.88 $13.00

20V Max drill/driver kit (DCD771C2) for $129 $99 ($99 is the regular holiday sale price)

72-piece screwdriver bit set for $19.88 $13.00

31-piece screwdriver bit set for $9.88 $7.00

The DCD771 20V max cordless drill was a Home Depot Black Friday special last year, for $99, and other retailers also carried it for $99. The deal came back for Father’s Day this year, and there’s also a new DCD771 drill and DCF885 impact driver combo kit. It was reasonable to expect that the $99 deal would return to this price around Black Friday, and it has.

As for the bit sets, nothing really stood out about them, unless you’re looking to replenish your supply of common bit sizes. These sets have high bit counts, but little variability. The drill bits look to be basic as well, and I would have liked to have seen some PilotPoint bit sets on sale.

Amazon’s 10% off $25+ and 20% off $50+ Dewalt accessories pre-Black Friday holiday sale was a good bargain, as it offered a discount on sets with greater bit selection, but that deal has expired. The current deal is for 20% off eligible power tool accessories with purchase of a Dewalt tool or battery. With this deal, there are over 600 qualifying tools and batteries that activate the 20% off accessories deal.

Dewalt 130pc Drilling and Driving Bit Set

130-piece drilling and driving bit set for $29.88 $22.00

This set has slightly better bit selection, but a lot of the screwdriver bits you get are going to be duplicates. Again, it’s a good set to replenish your one-person bit supply with.

There were a couple of Dewalt accessory set deals at Lowes as well:

Dewalt 27pc Drilling and Driving Bit Set

27pc drilling and screwdriver bit set for $9.97

This is a very basic bit set.

Dewalt 100pc Drilling and Driving Bit Set

100pc drilling and driving bit set for $24.97

While this combo package also has a lot of duplicate bits, there’s greater variety, including PolotPoint drill bits and a couple of impact-rated bits in the black ToughCase.

I have found that the dewalt bits are to hard. When using the impact rated bits on my impact i broke like three ph#2 bits in a matter of minutes. I have had good luck with their black oxide bits though.

Might be time to retire my old broken bit boxes. Hopefully Bosch does a similar thing. I think I prefer their longer skinnier boxes. Nice to add spade bits and other longer bit extentions ect.

one thing i hate about these type of boxes is that after about a month in my tool bag the little black bit holders that are made with a dove tail just dont stay in place

after learning too many times i just yank them out and dump all the bits out into the box — it may rattle a bit but it make one handed retrieval a hell of a lot better !

may have to pick up a few to just have

The Milwaukee Shockwave Impact Duty sets I think are more heavy duty.

Agree, although Dewalt also has the FlexTorq bits which are much more like the Shockwave bits. I guess the idea here is that with an impact driver, you want the bit to flex a little bit, which helps prevent breakage of both bit and fastener.

We really liked the Wera Impaktor Daimond line – but it was hard to find the Phillips #2 sizes in bulk to get the price down to a reasonable level.

The Dewalt cases are garbage. It’s an absolute pita removing and reinserting bits in those pos cases. The Milwaukee cases are way nicer.
