Over at Amazon, today’s deal of the day features Dewalt mechanics tool and accessory sets. There are 7 sets on sale, including drive accessory sets, small socket sets, and large-size ratcheting wrench sets.
It’s a random assortment of tools, but a couple of things I would have bought at various stages of growing my mechanics tool set.

Each of the on-sale tool sets, aside from the large wrenches, comes in a small modular tool box.
The 1/4″ and 3/8″ ratchet and socket set, or the 1/2 set, might make for good Father’s Day gifts.
It is “way too early o’clock” here at Milwaukee NPS17, so please forgive me for being brief.
Dewalt mechanics tools are pretty decent, and the modular tool boxes make these kits especially portable, not to mention stackable and easy to organize together.
Some of the sets look like they’d be good for growing the capabilities or versatility of a general mechanics tool set, and the socket sets look like they could be good for portable tool kits.

Price-wise, the deals look good. The 1/4″ and 3/8″ socket set shown above, for example, is on sale for $27. Its regular street price looks to be $38 and up.

Where is dewalt regarding hand tools . Do they slot above craftsman but below proto . Or are they below craftsman . They look like fat max just rebadged to dewalt .

Above modern Craftsman, Kobalt, and Stanley, below Proto. I’d say maybe on par with Gearwrench, if that helps.

The set I bought came with a stanley socket in place of one of the dewalt sockets if that tells you anything.

Agree with Stuart, the Dewalt stuff is definitely above Craftsman/Husky/Kobalt.
A solid choice for those that don’t want to pay for Proto/SK/Armstrong level stuff.

I picked up the deep 3/8″ set of sockets and the extension set. I’ll rather get a decent Wera ratchet driver at the end of the year to play with the sockets. I already have Gedore 1/2″ and Bahco 1/4″ metric sockets.

I’ve been using impact for all my car maintenance. When would there be a situation I wouldn’t be able to use my impact sockets and that these non-impact would be better for?

It really depends on your sockets. Impact sockets normally have a thicker wall than regular sockets. That makes it tough and sometimes impossible to get them on some bolts. Things like spark plugs and wheels mainly, but a lot of it depends on the specific car and where the bolts are.

I’d place them slightly above wrench in terms of finish and looks. I’ve had a 17mm open end gear wrench open up slightly and start slipping on a a stubborn nut, but did OK on the Dewalt. It might have been a one off.
I do like the fat handles on the ratchets – comfortable when applying a lot of pressure. I can’t slip on my handy little extension bar when needed, but I do have a couple of round handled swivel head breaker bars that I can use with the extension.
