I have tried a few of Dewalt’s new pliers, and while I still prefer Channellock’s USA-made pliers a little more, you’re not going to find a 4-tool Channellock set for anywhere near this price. I also prefer to buy my pliers separately, as this allows me to only select the sizes and styles I want.
This are decent pliers, and at $20 $9 the set is a great value.
This set should ship for free as part of a $45+ order. You can also opt for free in-store pickup.

I bought the set they sold last year, which was the same pliers minus the slip joint pliers. They are decent pliers near Channellock quality. I would have liked them better if they were just a little bit bigger.

I picked these up today at $14. The quality is poor. Except for the slip-joint pair, they don’t open and close smoothly.

Sorry to hear that, sounds like a defect. You can try returning it, or check with Dewalt to see what they can do for you. Personally, I wouldn’t pay money to return them to Dewalt for repair/exchange, I would try dealing with Home Depot first while they still have these sets in stock.

I wonder who the OEM is for these. In walking around my Home Depot I spotted a try-it-out display for a “Skil” branded “Ratch-N-Lock pliers. I was not very impressed and wondered why Skil (a Bosch company) was making this tool. The UPC code (811187019316) – may have told the story – i.e. this looks like it was made by Iron Bridge Tools ( E&H Co.) in China
Stuart
Dewalt/Stanley supposedly make all their hand tools in company-owned factories.
The Skil Ratch-N-Lock pliers look interesting. I don’t have high expectations, but maybe I will pick one up later today for testing.

I’d have to respectfully disagree. While they obviously aren’t as good as Channellocks, for the price these are a great value.

Since my son (just turned two on 12/1) is always wanting to get into my toolbox when I’m working on something around the house, I’ve started buying some basic tools that he can’t hurt himself with or choke on so he can “help” with supervision (or is he doing the supervising? I’m not really sure). A four piece plier set for less than $9 was a no brainer for me to pick up. He gets real tools that he can use for a while and I won’t lose any sleep when they eventually get lost or left out in the weather.
While I was on the HD website putting together an order for in-store pickup, I noticed that DeWalt fencing pliers were marked down from either $23 or $29 to $8.98 online so I added a set for myself. They were still full price in the store when I went to pick up the order

nice find Stu,I ordered a set to pick up later this week, even if the quality is subpar, for 9 bucks it should be decent enough for backup or loaner duty.

I went and got 2 packs today. The prices are comparable to …. can I say it…Harbor Freight…I also picked up some scissors for $5 for a 3 pack, $15 Impact Air Ratchet, and some clamps.

I picked this set up today. I was very pleased with the quality of this set for the price. Happy with my purchase.

I picked up the set today, decent quality for the sale price. The linesman were rusty in the package, the needle nose pliers had a little more flex in the handles than I would prefer, but overall I’m fine with them, I’d say the quality is similar to that of the kobalt sets that sell for the same price when on sale.
