I Found a Deal on Dewalt ToughSystem Organizers

Dewalt ToughSystem Compact Small Parts Organizer DWST08020 at Home Depot Store

I visited my local Home Depot today, to scout out their new tool deals and promos, and found a display of Dewalt ToughSystem tool storage products.

The Dewalt ToughSystem promo featured the brand’s compact small parts organizer (DWST08020), and their 2-drawer tool box (DWST08320).

Note: Dewalt is a sponsor; this post is NOT part of our active campaign.

I can make good use of compact parts organizers, and sometimes use them as portable tool boxes.

They’re durable, and the clear lids can be a convenience. The boxes feature 6 removable bins and have a weather seal for IP65 resistance against water and dust.

So, I stopped in my tracks and took a closer look.

Dewalt ToughSystem Compact Organizer DWST08020 at Home Depot Store Promo Price Card

When peeking at the back of the display, where I’m guessing another half pallet promo display was supposed to be positioned, I caught sight of what looks to be later-in-the-season pricing.

$24.98 seems like a good deal price.

But WAIT.

The price is currently $29.97. That’s the everyday price, and in my opinion it’s decent and proportional for what you get. $24.98 is of course better.

However, Home Depot has a 2-pack of the same organizers priced at $44.78 online, with free shipping. Let’s look at the pricing in context:

Current Price for 1 Organizer: $29.97.

Apparent Near-Future Price for 1 Organizer: $24.98.

Current Price for 2 Organizers: $44.78, which comes out to $22.39 each.

If you want 2 organizers, the 2-pack saves you $15.16 compared to the current price for 2 organizers purchased separately, or $5.18 compared to what looks to be the near-future price.

So if you think you’d be interested in buying 2 of these Dewalt ToughSystem organizers – or multiples of 2 – the 2-pack bundle that’s available online might be a better deal to get in on right now.

Buy it at Home Depot

As a reminder, these are compatible with Dewalt ToughSystem 2.0 tool boxes.

This would be interesting to me but I want to wait and see what the Tough System products are like. I have a couple hundred dollars worth of Milwaukee Packouts (which means that I have like 3 or 4….haha) and I’m considering selling them and moving to Tough System if they check out.

Sorry, not Tough System, but ToughBuilt.

I’m in the same boat. In retrospect I wish I had gone with Dewalt, considering my needs. Packout isn’t bad, just probably not the best choice for me.

The 2-drawer box at $99 is a great discount, those never seem to be discounted

I got one last holiday for $99 and LOVE it. I can’t wait to get another this year at the same price.

I bought a 4-pack of these organizers last year and use them daily. $22.39 is excellent — within a few dollars of SBD friends & family pricing.

While I really like the organizers and am pleased with ToughSystem thus far, like Lyle noted above, I’m eager to see what ToughBuilt delivers and at what price before I invest more in ToughSystem (mostly mobile storage) and Systainers (mostly shop storage).

If ToughBuilt releases the basics on time this fall at attractive prices they could potentially upend the holiday spending in this category. I could see myself pick up some StackTech gear, avoid the holiday sales on ToughSystem (Systainers don’t often go on sale), and wait for the ToughBuilt spring release.

The SBD friends and family pricing is nice when it comes around isn’t it? I bought into the ToughSystem this year with it.

100% agreed. I don’t need some walled garden ecosystem with 300 types of interlocking boxes/carts. I need one reliable and affordable parts organizer that I can safely stock up on. I have 10 or so of those excellent Huskies/Keters, but after they dropped that form-factor I’ve been really leery to jump in on any others. Packout is ludicrously over-priced for what I need, and DeWalt feels like they change systems/formats every couple years.

YES, I did a bunch of research into affordable organizers, bought two to start, built a shelf unit to put them, and bam they are no longer available.

How else would you buy expensive tool storage solutions?
I settled on the DeWalk TStak for this sort of thing. Husky does have interlocking small parts bins that are a far cry from Packout pricing.

    That’s a tiny a$$ organizer for $25.

The biggest loss in organizers was MW discontinuing their excellent ones in lieu of the packout versions. they went from nearly the best, most durable and sensible layout made for about $24 to a less desirable layout and a ner $55-60 cost.

The non-Toughstack Dewalt’s were always a good value at around $7 on special for the long narrow one and $10-12 for the large one, but definitely not as robust or well designed as the MW ones.

I agree with your sentiment, its very small for the price. Being extra heavy duty, weather sealed and system compatible adds some value but not for me personally

I like those half-width organizers a lot. They have a really good rubber seal and close very tightly, so I use one for my dowels.

I’d like to look at some of these for storing tools and their attachments in. Would compliment the task-focused ToughSystem boxes.

I like the 12.88 price point for the larger 10-compartment organizers better around the holiday season. I vaguely remember there being a flash sale for 9.99 as well..

At this time the shallow organizer is $29.98 and the deep organizer is $24.98. The construction is also very different to where they’re not direct substitutes.

It’s unclear whether there will be another non-ToughSystem organizer promo this year.

I grabbed up 2 of them on the flash sale a few years back. Should have grabbed more. I had to remove several bins to fit some things in such as socket extensions&rachets.. the rest of the binsbfor sockets. No room for any power tools though.

With ToughBuilt making their debut, even if it was an announcement and not yet priced or even on the shelves, the rest of the field has got to step up their game, be it in pricing or new and innovative products.
I’ve always said thst competition is good for everyone and now we see how.

Don’t get me wrong, there have been modular systems on the market for decades, and once DeWalt stepped in more recently with their “stack” by one name or another and then Systainer came out (too pricey and flimsy) and then Packout blasted everyone out of the water in both offerings and of course price(you get what you pay for) and of course FLEX (copy of PO), it goes without saying that if you aren’t going to be first, maybe hang back and see what is offered, make your own splash with better or just completely different options while still giving a great value.

But we all know that ToughBuilt isn’t really all that Budget Friendly, so don’t hold your breath on great prices, and don’t be shocked when thry are at a premium price, along with Packout, Systainer and Flex.

All in all, don’t you guys with a lower budget or not needing everything the bigger lines offer walk past Husky. They offer a great line up of both stack and click or simply their storage boxes.

The biggest problem with Husky, their product can disappear at any moment, without a slightest warning. Take, for example, their 10-bin organizers.

      https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-16-1-2-in-8-Bin-Deep-Pro-Small-Parts-Organizer-Black-218401/203329198

These were great, for my needs at least, and were available for several years. Even now one can see the original price on the Home Depot web site. But they are no longer available (nowhere in the two states I spend time during a typical year). These same organizers (made by Keter) were available as Hart-branded (blue bins instead of black) at Walmart, a few years ago, for maybe half a year. Now these organizers can’t be found on either Walmart, Hart Tools, nor even Keter web sites.

For couple years, around the holidays, Home Depot had these Husky organizers, at great prices (I’m not 100% certain, but I believe one could buy a pair at the price shown on the web site right now).

      https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-38-Compartment-Rack-with-6-Small-Parts-Organizer-2019-021/309210296

Again, these organizers are no longer available for purchase. Luckily, in this case one can buy a differently-colored item, made by Tactix. Price is higher, though.

      https://www.homedepot.com/p/TACTIX-52-Compartment-Plastic-Rack-with-4-Small-Parts-Organizer-320670/316866758

But these TACTIX organizers appeared on the web site some 2-3 years after Husky’s disappeared. These same organizers can be purchased at the Container Store, but at about double the price.

I was wrong about the first organizer’s availability on Walmart / Hart Tools web sites. Both are there.

But go try to actually buy it!
