Over at Home Depot, they have the Dewalt ToughSystem 2.0 2-drawer tool box (DWST08320) on sale for $99 with free shipping.

The tool box has 2 drawers, each with ball bearing slides. I confirmed with Dewalt that the load capacity is 25 pounds per drawer. It can stack with other Dewalt ToughSystem and ToughSystem 2.0 tool boxes and accessories.

Thank you to Vards for the tip!

If the Home Depot deal sells out quickly, Acme Tools has a 10% off code (STORAGE10) that’s valid thru 10/31/22, and a Dewalt “buy more, save more” promo with code FALL75, also ending 10/31/22. Neither code works out as well as Home Depot’s $99 (plus tax) out-the-door pricing.

Don’t do it! My handles break all the time and the only replacements online are from people with 3d printers and they are expensive and also break. I have had a tall drawer stack for a couple years and regret it. Thinking about switching to the pack out drawers.

If I leave this in the worshop storage rack the handles won’t break, will they?

Are the handles on the 2-drawer any different than what they use on the xl case?

I own two sets of these drawers and use them all the time, and mine are holding up.

I’m curious, I don’t even think these drawer units have even been out a year? How could you have them for two years?

I’ve not heard of anyone else having handles break on these, but if you have that problem, I’d like to know more about what causes it.

Hes referring to the 1.0 drawer which is basically identical to the 2.0 drawer except the locking auto latches that are 2.0. The handles he is referring to is the drawer handle not the side handles. Now the 1.0 drawer had a subtle update trying to address the handle issue and release mechanism itself was changed cuz the original constantly broke. The new release design was an improvement but i still broke 1 b4 myself but overall been pretty good. Now that being said the dewalt has always warrantied them for me over the phone with no issues.

Well they have definitely been out more than a year. I special ordered 4 of them when they first came out online at Home Depot. It seems like at least two years ago. I put them in my van and replaced my tall set of tstak drawers that were much smaller.

The first two times drawer handles broke I special ordered new one from Home Depot, swapped handles, and returned them. Then the third and fourth times I ordered off eBay replacement handles. One of them broke the first day and the seller sent me one for free. I open these drawers on average once a week. They also slump and my bottom one wont shut.

Maybe they would hold up better if they weren’t stacked? I guess the weight of the stack might be stressing the handles? I just have lightweight supplies in most of them. I remember reading someone else on here complaining about them sagging.

So far the Ridgid line up is serving me well. I’ve got a full stack+ some for interchangeability

      Ridgid’s system doesn’t have drawers.

I had the Ridgid system in full force. I couldn’t even count how many boxes I had. I loved them… Until packout drawer units came out and started singing their siren song.

I waited for as long as I could, hoping for Ridgid to produce something, anything! Even a whisper would have sufficed, but eventually I gave up and bought into Milwaukee. I don’t regret it, though my wallet did at the time, but now I will never go back to boxes with lids.

If DeWalt had come out with these drawers in time I might have gone with them since I primarily wield DeWalt in my line-up, but I’m glad I didn’t because the community behind Packout is top notch and you can print out feet, or buy them, and take any system or item and adapt it to work with Packout.

I hope DeWalt keeps making some competition though, because Packouts be ridiculous in the $$ department. And I did actually get one of these drawers and mount it to a packout adapter table, so now it’s a Red and Yellow stack with a Milwaukee radio and DeWalt Powerstation. Craziness.

Years back I was interested in the Rigid but they had been out for a while and they just didn’t seem to want to add to the line up so I decided not to go with such a limited and stagnant system. I went with Husky because money was tight and I was still building my tool set up and didn’t know what I needed or wanted in a stacking system so I didn’t want to invest in DeWalt or Packout. I regret the decision because most of the plastic latches that secures one box to another have snapped and failed me and no longer work. I didn’t abuse them or use this for a living day in and day out and yet they would just snap at random but most broke in cold whether in Minnesota. I’m probably going to DeWalt when I can.

Yeah, I got into Ridgid when there was only DeWalt to compete with in the rolling toolbox arena. I purchased multiple $98 stacks over the years and slowly got 20+. Then when Packout came out in 2017 I didn’t feel like I was missing anything and so I kept buying Ridgid. But when Milwaukee released the drawers, that became a serious pull for me. The DeWalt drawers just weren’t good enough to pull me in their direction and they went completely out of stock everywhere so I decided to stop procrastinating and buy into Packout.
I sold all my Ridgid boxes for $400 and spent about $1100 on packout buying used and getting deals where I could. Now I have three 3-drawer units and three 2-drawer units, two dollies, 1 hand cart, a couple crates, the backpack and two open top bags. It’s been great, and I was able to reduce my toolbox footprint by about 40% and increase my accessibility to everything by 100%. I still have one Ridgid stack for Trowels and miscellaneous stuff I rarely use, but I’ll probably eventually move it over to Packout too.
And the 24×48 sheets of kaizen foam can be cut into six 12×16 pieces that fit perfectly into the packout drawers for ultimate organization.

Just an update; I received the two I ordered and I’m quite happy with them. I’m using them to replace some cheap sterilite drawer units I’ve been using for random tool and accessory storage for years.

I might grab a third to have 6 total drawers. $300 seems expensive, but I honestly don’t think I could build something similar for under that amount. Eventually I’ll build banks of drawers, but these will do the job perfectly fine for now.

Thanks again for posting this deal!

I tried to build my own drawers to fit specific tools and built a 6-drawer plywood drawer cart, welded together a 5/8″ axle and wheels to make it portable and it was just too heavy. Awesome, but heavy. I made it 24″ wide and 16″ deep and in the end it did exactly what I wanted it to, but I couldn’t wheel it through grass at all. That was the last straw to me spending mucho dinero and buying into Packout. The DeWalt drawers was originally what I wanted, but they had such bad reviews and were out of stock at the time so I bit the bullet and bought Packout. If they had been available and $99 each like they are now, I might have gone with them instead…

TL;DR Building wooden rolling drawer boxes are just too heavy and not worth the time when you can buy lighter pre-made versions that click together.
