Dewalt ToughSystem Deal March 2018

Amazon is offering special pricing on this Dewalt ToughSystem tool storage bundle, today only.

You get a large tool box, an open tote, and an organizer with removable bins and clear lids. All of them have side handles and can latch together in any order.

The normal price, at least according to Amazon’s pricing on the separate Tough System tool boxes, comes to ~$104, and so you’re saving $26.48 off the regular price. That translates to a ~25.5% discount.

I’ve got good things to say about Dewalt’s ToughSystem tool box system, and these models are no different. I own a bunch of the large tool boxes, and have test samples of the tote and organizer, in case you have any questions.

Overall, I’d say this as a very good deal, although the selection is a little odd. I suppose that the bundle is aimed at exposing new users to ToughSystem platform, with a little taste of everything.

Sale Price: $77.49

Buy Now(via Amazon)

Deal ends at 3am ET 3/8/2018.

Not bad. I like the parts organizers, nice big cups for longer bolts, and really tough. I’m not a fan of the open tote though. If I’m going to buy a toolbox, I want something to fully protect the tools. Sure you don’t have to put tools in it, maybe glues and oils/ grease, de greasers or parts, etc.

I guess that open totes have their purposes and fans. Who hasn’t used milk crates or 5 gallon pails to cart stuff around – but you pay a lot less for these. Those round tray parts organizers that stack inside a 5-gallon pail sound like a nice idea – until you overturn one and need to gather up all the loose screws. But we’d carry things like towels/rags and extension cords in open crates and caulking tubes in pails.

I love those open crates for car camping/road trip. The fact that they lock together is just cherry on top. It look like Ridgid, Dewalt Toughbox and Dewalt Tstak all have their own flavor for $20-25 a piece.

In my office/lab we use a lot of those Akro-Mils 13017. They usually run about $50 for a set of 3. For a slightly higher volume we usually get them at about $15 a piece.

I picked up the Tstak version of the open box last summer. My best use for it was about a month later when I had to caulk a 3 ft long joint in a concrete wall every 10 ft for the 1600 ft length of the wall (both sides). I used other Tstaks for my mixing drill and extra supplies and stuck the open box on top –
perfect for holding a gallon of mineral spirits, box of towels, gloves, misc. hand tools, caulk knives, etc. and some extra backer rod. The fact that I was able to easily move my entire station after each joint definitely saved time – probably a few hours over the course of the work.

That’s a great point Fred. My grandpa uses milk crates a lot.

i have about 8 toughcase items including the three above. the clear top is my favorite one for hardware storage. the open bin is great for gloves, tool belts, nail aprons and the sort.

i really like the system but i do have a couple complaints. this line of storage does not have a spot to put a label in. many of the cases look the same or similar and when you get multiples you can’t tell what is in what case. the other issue and this goes with all brands of case not just dewalt.

the one you need is always on the bottom!

A silver Sharpie makes identifying cases that you need foolproof, and racking or a dolly makes getting the bottom case out much easier.

I found that Brother label tape works well, there is a high adhesive stuff that stays on well. Its available in yellow and black if that is your thing.

True but Dewalt has the dolly for the system and you can access any box without removing the ones above it..

This is incorrect. You would have to leave enough room for the lid to open to access the toolbox. I use this system, it’s ok but not perfect.
The dolly is very heavy, as are the boxes.
The boxes are not as strong as you would think. I’ve broke 3 already by standing on them.

I think by accessing it he’s referring to pulling it out without messing with anything on to of it. I’ve had the system and dolly for a few years, and personally I love every bit other than the original drawer units. If you’re out in the field, the dolly is wonderfully built for a low work surface or even a seat for some repetive stock work at your feet. Everyone has different needs, i suppose.

of course i could mark them with a sharpie but who wants to do that? eventually what is the boxes will get moves or changed and it will be wrong. decals are ok i guess. a heat gun and goo gone will take it off easily.

my point was that the t-stak dewalt boxes that are lighter duty/smaller/cheaper have a built in slot for a tag. one could change the contents daily and relabel with very little effort. that is a nice feature.

i have the box with a built in cart, not the cart with racks so to move it and boxes i need to lock them down.
