Dewalt has come out with a new Tstak rolling cooler, DWST17824, which is compatible with Dewalt Tstak tool boxes and should also be compatible with Craftsman VersaStack tool boxes.
The new Dewalt 30 quart cooler features 7″ all-terrain wheels, commercial-grade foamed polyurethane insulation for up to 3 days of ice retention, 2 can holders in the top lid, a built-in bottle opener, and of course a telescopic handle for easier mobility.

It has a load capacity of 66 lbs, and it looks like you can load Dewalt Tstak or Craftsman Versastack tool boxes right on top. The sticker on the front – at least in product images – says that it has a rolling load capacity of 110 lbs.
The Dewalt Tstak cooler measures 20.16″ wide x 17.13″ deep x 39.37″ tall.

I’m guessing that Dewalt’s ToughSystem cooler has been popular enough to lead to a rolling cooler with Tstak form factor. I do find the specs a little confusing through.

The Dewalt ToughSystem cooler has 25.5 liters of storage capacity. This Tstak cooler has 30 quarts of storage volume, which converts to 28.4 liters. Dewalt ToughSystem tool boxes are quite a bit larger than Tstak cases. But, looking at the cooling claims, the ToughSystem is said to have up to 5 days of ice retention, and the Tstak up to 3 days, so does this mean the ToughSystem cooler has thicker walls for greater insulation?
A fully-loaded cooler can sometimes be hard to tote around. The wheels and telescoping handle on this Tstak unit would definitely come in handy. Plus, you can stack a Tstak or Versastack tool box or open tote right on top, loaded with whatever else your outing requires.
The cooler looks to have deep side handle recesses. They don’t look to fold out, but I don’t think that’s a big deal. There’s also no top handle, but who’s going to carry a bulky cooler with one hand anyway?
I don’t see a built-in drain in the product photos. That might make emptying water a bigger hassle, but on the other hand built-in drains are often complained about because they can leak heat due to compromised insulation or water due to imperfect seals.

Yep. I’m interested. I’ve eyed up the toughsystem cooler but it just seems too expensive. I don’t have either storage case system – but I’ve also been considering it. Having the cooler as the base is nice. I’m not fond of the bright yellow – but I get that they probably shouldn’t do black for something that’s trying to keep stuff cool.

I like it and I could use it, but right now I’m needing a 15 quart, I have Dewalts little cooler I got at lowes with a tool kit and I really love it. but wished Dewalt wasn’t so slow a making new things. I Get tired of waiting on them and end up buying other brands and into other battery platforms. With that said! I like this cooler! Dewalt, go make me some more stuff! How about more 60v tools? Like a good Flexvolt shop vac, Flexvolt fan, Flexvolt weed eater power head the takes mtd attachments, just to mane a few.

By the way I get tons of compliments on my little Dewalt cooler, everyone that sees it wants one. I like the yellow, but I would bet if they would make a camo one? they would sell allot more to hunters and fisherman, I’m not taking a yellow cooler out into the woods.

$140 for a Tstak cooler on wheels?
Why not get a ToughSystem DS450 cart for $70 and have that hold a cooler inside it. I can only image one could find a 28 quart coolers for $20 that fits right inside and still have room for other things.
Or for a few dollars more just get a Toughsystem DS450 and a DWST08404 cooler.
To me at least, the $140, the price compared to the target market of TStaks does not seem to be in accordance with each other.

The Toughsystem cart MSRP is $119, so I’m not sure that’s apples to apples. I’ll bet pricing drops on this TStak cooler once it’s been out for awhile.
I’ll grant you it does seem a bit high-priced compared to other Tstak stuff though. I converted the currency to see what it would be in Canadian since this cooler isn’t available here yet. It would be $185 – which seems like a lot when the 3-piece tower (with the cart and two storage boxes) often goes on sale for $99.
On the other hand, the DS450 cart is selling here for $118 and the cooler is $177 here – so just shy of $300 for a rolling cooler (and one large box) if you choose the toughsystem line. Tstak starts to look reasonable in that context.

In general? ToughSystem is larger, stronger. Tstak is smaller, made with thinner plastic, less expensive.

I like TSTAK (and VersaStack) box system, I like it a lot. But in those large rolling boxes the telescopic handle is the weakest part, unfortunately.

DeWalt should have included one of those battery powered thermionic coolers like Ryobi did (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OL1uZ0X26k8) . The Ryobi ain’t that much more money.
Even better yet , make it so that cooler is hybrid and can plug into an outlet or use the batteries.
Can you actually stack other TSTAK items on top? Not sure I see the provisions for that otherwise it is a regular cooler with wheels and a handle for the DeWalt fanboy crowd.
From a cooling perspective wonder how this would stack up against a Yeti? Too bad the Yeti can’t have the connections for a TSTAK.

I’d be more impressed if DeWalt made a line of battery-powered cooling coolers, just like those plug-in ones that you can get Canadian Tire. I want it to run on FlexVolt batteries. For me, there should be a size capable of holding unto three workday meals.
