Deal: Dewalt TwinTec Ratcheting Socket Wrench for $19

Dewalt Twin Tec Ratcheting Socket Wrench

Over at Home Depot, the Dewalt TwinTec ratcheting adjustable socket wrench has dropped in price from $30 to $19. The Dewalt TwinTec is identical to the Stanley TwinTec wrench, but with a different color scheme.

Long-time ToolGuyd readers might remember that I have an aversion to dog bone wrenches. They’re large, bulky, and modern designs are all too often choc-full of gimmicky features. 25-in-1 metric-inch combination sockets? No thanks.

I spent some time testing and using the Stanley version of this wrench, and it’s one of the better dog bone wrenches I have seen. It’s still a dog bone wrench, but I do like how easily the sockets can be adjusted for a secure fit. The wrench can’t fit recessed fasteners or reach into enclosures or tight spaces, but it works okay on exposed hardware.

If you’re looking for a dog bone wrench, this is one of the better ones to check out. If you’re hesitant about buying it sight unseen, your local Home Depot should have a couple out on display in the seasonal display area.

Stuart–Interesting tool, but it looks slightly smaller than the bat I used to swing playing softball. It has applications out in the open, it just looks awkwardly large to carry around. However, as another reader pointed out about the Stanley TwinTec, it wouldn’t be able to set nuts or bolts that needed to be countersunk. Something that works the same way (but which is just the mechanism) is the SocketPro. That would have more applications owing to its compact size, and because it still relies on a standard metal ratchet for drive force.

Has it been tested to failure to determine what kind of load it would bear (both the mechanism and the tool handle itself)? I could see someone buying it as an “emergency” tool (natural gas shutoff in an earthquake, removing/reinstalling lug nuts on a car, etc.).

      Wow, you’re right!

      $9 each with in-store pickup.

Decent price, but not everyone’s going to find the tool useful.

I know these are old posts, but can no longer find this item at home depot, nor elsewhere. Would like to get it for my husband. Anyone know where it is still available?

Thank you. After doing much searching, I, too, believe this may no longer be available.
