The 356 is easily in my top-5 purchases. I’ve used it from trim to drywall to PVC flush cuts and it never misses a beat. If you don’t have a cordless OMT or want to upgrade this should be a no-brainer.

Agreed, this tool rocks, and $149 for the full kit with accessories and a battery is a great deal.
I have the older model with just the variable speed trigger and no 3-speed-setting but is otherwise the same. The sanding attachment and the depth guide are both very useful. The ergonomics are great and the blade change couldn’t be any faster. That’s really nice if you’re working in a tight spot and you find yourself needing to reposition the blade to get the right angle. The accessory box they provide with the kit is excellent quality too, it’s seriously thick and strong plastic. It’s actually useful and doesn’t feel like some cheapo afterthought they threw in to pad the part count.

Wow, considering the tool only is $120 at Amazon right now (https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DCS356B-Variable-Oscillating-Multi-Tool/dp/B07VBB55X5) this is a killer deal for battery, charger, and accessories. I was just looking for a battery powered OMT.
Second, that really looks like a small ToughCase+ box. I’m seeing it sold with the corded OMT too.

I bought this kit several years ago and have been very happy with it.
I have no idea why all OMTs don’t come with a depth guide.

Can anyone recommend a deal on blades for this? The dewalt pack is ridiculously priced, considering I cut nails or wood only, and it wears them out in a few uses. Some of those Amazon “weird named” mega packs with dozens of blades have too many stars or bot reviews (I use the reviewmeta site to check many…).
Oh, and this tool is my fav… I mean I can notch out an outlet in the back of a cabinet, fine cut jambs, cut through plasterboard, remove grout, and feather the power/trigger as needed.

Dewalt blades are good but I agree they are overpriced. I’ve found deals on them from time to time but usually they’re too expensive to bother with. My go-tos are Milwaukee from Home Depot. They often have combo packs/assortments on sale for great prices. I’ve tried some of the Amazon cheapies and they have all been terrible. However Amazon does sell Imperial Blades brand. Those are good quality and made in USA.

I own both the atomic amd a corded version, they vibrate like crazy. Never again. Milwaukee is far superior, both 12 and 18 volt, even though dewalt offers a faster blade change the noise, the variable trigger you can’t lock down, the absense of a dust shroud (does NOT exist) and the insane vibration that renders it borderline unusable at higher speeds… Never again. Dewy does make some decent tools but I prefer Milwaukee. They’re far superior in almost every category.
