Dewalt DCF860QQ1 Cordless Impact Driver Kit Launch

Dewalt has launched a new kit option for their flagship 20V Max XR brushless impact driver.

Now, instead of only being able to get the DCF860 by itself or bundled with a PowerPack 8Ah battery, you can now buy the impact bundled with a PowerPack 4Ah battery.

The new kit, model DCF860QQ1, is launching for $269, which is the same as the current promo price for the 8Ah kit at various retailers right now. The regular price for the 8Ah PowerPack kit, model DCF860WW1, is $319.

There are various retail-specific promos and bundles you can get with the DCF860 impact driver, but so far these are the two only kit options. Dewalt’s best brushless impact driver is also available separately in tool-only format (DCF860B).

It looks like the rated specs are unchanged, with the DCF860 advertised as delivering up to 2500 in-lbs max torque and no-load speeds up to 3800 RPM.

Dewalt has not said much about the new PowerPack 4Ah battery, but we presume it has tabless 27100 Li-ion cells like the higher capacity 8Ah battery.

The kit comes with the Dewalt 20V Max XR series impact driver, (1) 4Ah battery, charger, tool bag, and belt hook.

Model no. DCF860QQ1
Price: $269

Buy it at Acme Tools

At the time of this posting, the new Dewalt 20V Max XR 4Ah PowerPack battery is only available for purchase as part of this new impact driver kit, or with their new cordless drill kit.

A smaller battery at the same price doesn’t seem exciting – but a 4ah pack with an impact driver seems about right.

When I follow the Acme link it says it’s kitted with a 4ah charger. Presumably then, that’s not the 8ah peak “fast charger” like the existing kit comes with?

They don’t say in the listing, and Dewalt doesn’t have a page up for the kit yet. Since it’s a 4Ah battery, you’re probably getting a standard charger.

I’ll never understand the reasoning behind the mismatch of impact length and battery length- what’s the point of making impact drivers shorter if the batteries jut out like Superman’s chin on the bottom? The Milwaukee gen 4 impact has this problem too when paired with a 3.0 HO.

The best combination I’ve found is the DCF850 lil guy and a pair of 1.7 power stacks.

Every tool has to be compatible with every battery, and every battery has to fit every tool.

I’d say that the PowerStack 1.7Ah isn’t perfectly matched to the power of the impact, but it’s fine for most smaller and medium fastener sizes.

I have one of the older (slim) 4ah batteries and I keep this for using as a power bank with my laptop and the DCB094 usb-c charger. I wonder if this is any lighter? They have a weird and potentially confusing range of batteries now. 1.6,3,5,5.0 powerstacks, lots of different tabbed batteries and now a few tabless. This slim 4ah seems a better bet to me than the 5ah powerstack, assuming it has a 3 year warranty like the power stack.
Also, it’s weird we’ve not seen any tabless flexvolt batteries yet? I’ve recently bought a few more flexvolt tools, inc the plunge saw, but I’m holding off buying anymore flexvolt batteries.

As a Bosch user the red and yellow battery line-ups both look over complicated and expensive to me!!!

They’ve streamlined their battery lineup and are phasing out some of the older redundant batteries – https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2F4v7eic905bid1.png

For 99% of my use, I could not imagine using the huge, heavy 8AH battery. The 4 seems right but if I did buy a kit, I would get the 8AH one, just so I could have that battery for my string trimmer.
