Dewalt Xtreme Free Bonus Tool Deal Holiday 2023

The holiday season has officially kicked off, with this Dewalt 12V Max Xtreme cordless power tool deal being among the first to hold my attention.

I’m sure many of you are already familiar with Dewalt’s 12V Max platform. If not, here’s what you need to know – the tools are compact, lightweight, and feature brushless motors.

I see this deal as a sort of built-your-own 3-tool combo kit. You start off with a cordless drill and impact driver kit, and choose a free bonus tool or battery.

The Dewalt Xtreme SubCompact 2-tool combo kit comes with the DCD701 drill/driver, DCF801 impact driver, 2x 2Ah batteries, a charger, and a tool bag.

If you want just the 2-tool combo kit, some retailers have it for $149. With this “free with purchase offer,” you get the 2-tool combo kit and your choice of tool for $199.

Dewalt Xtreme Free Cordless Power Tool Choices October 2023

Here’s a full list of the free cordless power tool and battery choices, with all the tools featuring a brushless motor:

  • 3/8″ impact wrench ($149)
  • 1/2″ impact wrench ($149)
  • Oscillating multi-tool ($129)
  • 1/4″ ratchet ($179)
  • 3/8″ ratchet ($179)
  • SDS-plus rotary hammer ($179)
  • Compact reciprocating saw ($149)
  • 5-3/8″ circular saw ($149)
  • 5Ah Li-ion battery ($99)

The prices shown above are the tool-only prices at the time of this posting.

According to Lowe’s, the promo ends January 31, 2024, giving you plenty of time to think things over. And given how we’re just entering the holiday tool deals season, there’s no rush.

Who is this Deal for?

I am a huge fan of Dewalt’s 12V Max Xtreme cordless power tool system. The tools are compact and lightweight – even more so the smallest 18V-class tools I’ve used or tested – and their performance hasn’t let me down yet.

The tool system isn’t for everyone. If power is your top priority, Dewalt’s 20V Max system might suit you better, such as their XR or Atomic Series options.

One thing to keep in mind is that you can charge Dewalt 12V Max batteries on the brand’s 20V Max chargers. There are a few exceptions, such as the fastest chargers that are sometimes bundled with Dewalt’s FlexVolt tool kits. This makes it easy to build a kit with both 12V and 20V Max tools and accessories.

Wish they did something for the 5in1. Also hoping and waiting for an expansion of this line. Maybe a mini tower light?

      I wish they’d make a 20V Max version of the 5-in-1.

Yep that could be the best multi drill driver on the market if they did that. Perfect for the small powerstack batteries.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. That little powerstack is about the same size as a 12V pack. Also, I have the M12 installation driver and I while I like it a lot there are times when it would be nice to have 20V class power.

Although I would also love such a tool, it probably wouldn’t get enough sales (just like it’s hard to find a 20V hex screw drivers).

IIRC, only Bosch makes a 18V/20V 5-in-1; also Makita makes a 20V hex screw driver that’s not sold in the US.

I can see an 18/20V dedicated screwdriver being an oddball item but an installation driver is also a drill so I think there there would be a much bigger market for it compared to a dedicated screwdriver.
As far as the 18/20V class of installation driver goes I think Festool has one as well.

Search for Metabo 627341000 and you will find the $45 pseudo Freak adapter. There have been some good deals over the last few years. For example the 12v brushless Metabo Quick drill is $69 on Amazon as a bare tool. I got the 18v brushed version as a kit with a batt and right angle adapter for about $125. The 18 rotary hammer with dust extractor was as low as $99, I paid $129 as a bare tool with case. But other than metal fabrication tools USA Metabo and distributors seem to have little interest in US market

Metabo Germany makes what they call the Quick system in both 12v and 18v platforms. They have a drill chuck, right angle adapter, offset adapter, bit holder, and a Freak like socket/bit holder. I don’t think they have a rotary hammer attachment. And I don’t see kits with all the adapters. Some drills allow for the addition of an expensive torque multiplier. But Metabo does not seem very interested in the US consumer market.

Forgot to mention Metabo has both keyless and keyed chucks available.

Thanks for mentioning that Mr. B. It turns out they are available from Metabo in the US as well, they’re just not well organized on the US website. They have a few different “LTX quick” series drills, and all the accessories/attachments seem to be listed separately. It was a real pain to find everything though I finally found the 3x torque multiplier attachment, it’s a whopping $660. I also found right-angle attachments with both 1/4 hex drive and threads for a chuck, keyless and keyed chucks, the offset aka “eccentric”, and a hex bit holder. I couldn’t find the freak-like attachment but it might be buried in the site somewhere. Most attachments are a bit over $100 each. Looks like a nice system, and I happen to be on Metabo’s 18V platform… But man is it expensive…
I see a lot of Metabo tools at welding supply shops but it’s usually all grinders and belt sanders.

Not a really enticing deal for me. I love dewalt’s 12v drill, 5 in 1 driver and screwdriver, but really, that’s about it.

Same. Or at least the 12v work light.

3/8″ ratchet would be my pick. Lowe’s runs this promo quite often; one of their few power tool deals that’s actually worth looking at.

I’m invested into this line a bit. Driver, drill, 2 impacts and 3/8″ ratchet. I love it for the same reasons Stuart mentioned. Im in the facilities world and I’ve started carrying the driver instead of the 18/20v stuff due to the lighter weight to pack around and it’ll do 95% of what I would use a driver for. And also as mentioned, would love to see the 5-1 come on sale.

I have a drill and don’t need a driver, right now. How about deals on other combos? I’m particularly interested in the cordless multitool and sanders.

I’m looking out for those too!

Many readers already have enough cordless drills and impact drivers, and so I actively scout out and analyze deals of those nature. Most brands’ best holiday deals have not yet been revealed, but we should start seeing them in about 2 to 3 weeks.

I’ll put together a rundown of cordless OMTs once the deals are known, and will likely include any sander deals in the brand-specific deal coverages as well.

I was just looking at this.
Lowes also has a few other dewalt 12v deals.
Saw the recip saw ($149) and OMT ($129?) Plus maybe others With a free battery pack promo thru 11/1
    I believe. 2.0, 5.0 and charger.
I like the dewalt 12v better(mostly ergonomics) than the M12 and bosch 12v which I’m already invested in.
