Dewalt 12V Xtreme Cordless Drill and Recipricating Saw and Backpack Kit Bundle

Over at Lowe’s, they a fantastic Dewalt Xtreme 12V Max cordless power tool combo kit has returned for the Father’s Day 2021 deals season.

Quite a few readers emailed or messaged me about this bundle last winter when it appeared around Black Friday, but by the time I took a look it was too late. So, I’ve been watching and waiting for it to appear for Father’s Day, and it has!

This Dewalt Xtreme combo kit, DCKSS200F2, comes with their compact brushless drill, compact brushless reciprocating saw, and a backpack tool case.

The kit is bundled with a charger and 2x 2.0Ah Li-ion batteries.

Other Dewalt tool dealers have this same combo priced at $239.

I love this drill, and the kit is usually a great deal when it goes on sale for $149 for the holidays. With this kit, you basically get the drill kit, plus the compact reciprocating saw bare tool for just $50 more, and there’s a backpack on top of all that. Just the drill and recip saw for $149 would be a great deal, but the tool backpack seems to be a nice addition.

Special Buy: $149

If you want to dip your toe into Dewalt 12V Max waters, Lowe’s also has the Xtreme brushless drill kit and impact driver kit for $99 each. $99 is seasonal pricing on these kits, and it looks like Lowe’s is the only one is offering the promo pricing for Father’s Day thus far.

It’s a great little drill, it’ll drain that 2ah pretty easily though with sustained use. Can’t speak to the recip, chose the atomic myself so I could use high capacity packs with the generally power hungry nature of saws. I hear they’re pretty comparable, though and the 12v 5ah’s would do nicely to compliment both these tools.

This is a pretty good deal.

Back in the spring, they had the drill and impact kits listed for $99 with a free 5AH.

The bare tool one hand recip was also $99 with a 5AH.

Not bad, I ordered one for $142 total (gotta love the online military discount Lowe’s offers)! I have the old 12v Max tools, and can gift my drill and the pivoting recip, along with a few more batteries, to a friend.

Favorite thing about this isn’t the tools but the actually-useful tool storage instead of the typical blowmold case. Makita has done this a bit (although the lunchbox ones were terrible) and obviously the Systainer/L-Boxx tools were better, but it’s a trend I’d like to see continue for both practicality and environmental waste reasons.

I agree with your comments on the packaging. In my opinion dedicated hard cases only make sense for those tools which have a very large number of accessories/attachments one needs to keep at hand & well organized, or particularly delicate accessories that need the protection of a hard case. A tool bag makes far more sense for 99% of the tools out there.

Many years ago when my tools were mostly corded and I had a spattering of the old 18V Ni-Cd cordless models I accumulated a huge stack of those black Dewalt “suitcase cases” in a workshop storage room. Most of them did nothing but waste space. There were two exceptions: my rotary hammer, in which case I stored my bits and a homemade ground rod driver in the box with the tool, and my big plunge router so I could keep different bases, a circle cutting jig, and commonly used bits together with it. Since then I have accumulated several of the cloth Dewalt tool bags….yet I actually use those. Right now the only “hard cases” I use other than my roll-around chest is a tackle box for my die grinders & their tooling/accessories, and a dewalt toughsystem box fitted with my commonly used drill/driver bits and accessories.
