Diamondback Tool Belt made in USA

Diamondback tool belts are the heaviest-duty tool pouches and belts of their kind that I have come across.

A reader recently asked me to start updating our Ultimate Tool Gift Guide, and this was the first product I could think of. I have a test sample, and was really blown away with its quality. The materials are top-notch, the construction is top-notch, and there are loads of options, from pre-built systems to a “build your own” option.

Diamondback tool belts are modular, and customizable in such a way that I can’t see anyone’s needs or wants not being fulfillable.

Their products are priced at a premium, but the quality, and the choice of materials is top-notch. To give you an example, the belt latch is a Cobra quick release, which are mil-spec devices used in tactical gear and even rescue equipment such as body harnesses for rescue, rope access, or fall-arrest applications. The fabric is 1000D nylon.

The Diamondback tool belt product assortment looks pretty complete to me, and there are new products coming out even, with 2 new pouches set to be available starting next week (12/1/18).

USA-made quality tool belts like theirs don’t come cheap. The rig shown above is priced at $315. I know what you’re thinking – it costs how much? Well, how much does the average smartphone cost these days? These tool belts look and feel like they’ll last and last.

If you’re an infrequent tool belt user, you might want to look at something a lot more affordable. But if you’re a daily user, you know what you want in a tool belt, and you want something that will quite possibly outlast some of your tools? This might be your dream rig.

Diamondback tool belts are backed by a lifetime guarantee.

Built without compromise from the most durable materials we could find and designed to withstand the rigors of daily jobsite use and abuse, our tool belts are regularly reported to last for 15 years or longer. Still, on the off-chance that something goes awry, we offer a lifetime warranty on materials guaranteed to be free from defects and workmanship in all of our products based on original purchase date.

I have a tool belt test sample (with suspenders), and a budget that can accommodate review requests for some of the other pouches or accessories. What kinds of questions do you guys have?

I scored a McRose belt at a Habitat restore for just a few bucks, it sells for over $180! I know a lot of people sporting Occidental set ups. What I’m getting at is there is a lot going for premium tool belts, if I hadn’t lucked into mine I wouldn’t hesitate buy a high end belt like this. If you’re only doing a project a year or only need a belt here and there this isn’t for you but if you build professionally you’ll be doing yourself right with a high end rig like this.

I was never a tool-belt user. But I spent much of my working life running businesses where some of the guys were. I recall that some of the Occidental Leather belts that were fully decked out – cost close to this price. While my businesses generally bought the tools – and PPE – and sometimes some tool pouches when asked – we’d let the guys buy their own expensive belts and titanium hammers (to the yeti’s comment) if they wished. Now retired, I’m happy that my well worn shop apron only cost me a 10th of these.

Whats it got for a long skinny pouch to hold a 15 inch nail bar.

Most pouches neglect this much needed tool holder

Some models have sleeves that run under each bag to hold a hammer and a flat bar or cats paw.

They also sell them separately, I added this one to my Oxy bag: https://toolbelts.com/product/hammer-holster/

I’ve had a couple of weekend warrior belts for decades. To help my “carpenter” buddies or just pretend to be one.
I’d personally rather stage from my Veto bags but I’m mostly in fiddler or repair mode and certainly not a pro.
These might be lighter then the leather Occidental sets to their advantage? And certainly more water/weather resistant.
    Good find Stuart.

Sorry but I personally stay away from nylon belts. They get flat and don’t stay open. This is annoying when you have lots of fasteners. I like Diamondbacks accessories for trim or when you don’t need a full rig.

Occidental Leather guy for life. Their all leather bags stay open, they don’t fray and you can get them wet and it doesn’t ruin them. I have the double gary Katz pouch and while good, it’s not great for me personally. But it’s still a nice product.

Occidental has some hybrid nylon bags and I don’t care for those either. Gotta go all leather with their bags imo

Occidental only for pros. Like “Nick”says nylon lays flat and with an open knife blade will rip easy…also no rivets,…DIY go husky,DeWalt, any brand would do….a good Occidental bag will last 10yrs or more…no way that other bag lasts a year

I’ve got the Boulderbag ultimate pro framer nylon tool belt set up and I don’t have any complaints. I’ve framed with it for almost 12 years and the bags stay open and have plenty of storage pockets, loops and pouches. You can get one of those for around $130. I can’t imagine what extra these bags must have to justify $300.

I’ve got the Elias tool bag from them for carpentry work. It is so much better than CLC or other brands found at Home Depot etc. I would say Diamondbacks are practically indestructible.

I was iffy about a nylon/cloth nailbag over traditional leather but I was greatly surprised.

I had my first set of diamondback for 15 yrs . Just got my 2nd set this summer . Best Toolbelt ever , most comfortable ever . Had occidental before not even close .. All during framing houses so pleanty of wear & year & hold up perfectly. Read some comments on the bags being flat & not staying open .. in the beginning maybe a little but a few yrs in no problem with that . My opinion of course

My first diamondback was the Denali lasted 15 yrs . Just got my 2nd set . Best Toolbelt ever . Most comfortable ever . Had occidental before & not even close . All during framing houses . So they took plenty of abuse. If you’re wearing bags all week for 10 hrs plus these are worth every penny ., my opinion of course.

Oxy bags are really well made, but there are hardly any useful slots for tools. What they do all have are three or four tiny worthless sawdust pockets. But, as often as not they block acess to these with a tape measure holder–no one complained because you usually don’t need sawdust when building things. I paid $300 for my set and another $100 for the suspenders and theu are now on a basement shelf. I’m wearing a $50 mullet buster rig with a couple of extra pouches clipped on and couldn’t be happier. if they fall apart too quickly I might shell out for the diamondbacks. My coworkers who’ve worn them for years do not complain about the nylon laying flat. Oxy’s nylon bags don’t flatten either.

What do you recommend 6inch belt or 4inch diamond back belt?

I am not sure which to recommend to you. Looking at their preconfigured bundles, some have the 4″ belt, others the 6″ belt.

I think that the 4″ might provide you with more mobility or physical flexibility, while the 6″ might be a little more comfortable with heavier loads.

If in your shoes, I would email Diamondback with a description of what kind of work I did most, and which pouches I’d want to use it with. They should be able to steer you in one direction or the other. That’s one of the reasons to buy something like this over an off-the-shelf belt designed to be a “one size fits all product.”
