I don’t plan my projects that far in advance (read: no planning at all), I just sort of stumble in to them. So I’ll just say that on a scale of one to awesome, ToolGuyd is
    Super-Great!

Nothing in mind for it right now but there’s always something they’re useful for. My 400 Series made a lot of odd-shaped cuts in tile for our kitchen backsplash a couple of years ago – stuff my angle grinder and tile saw couldn’t even come close to pulling off.

I do medieval reenactment, and I’ve got a steel helmet on which I’m going to engrave Norse runes and similar decorative patterns. I’m also going to do some piercework based on museum pieces. A Dremel’s the right tool for the job.

Surprisingly, I’ve only got a cordless Dremel. I’ve been itching to get a corded one now that I’ve put together a workshop (I can bring projects to the tools vs tools to the project). Battery power just doesn’t cut it for big projects.

I’ve got some pretty slick intake manifolds for my vintage bike that need a little polishing on the inside (and some valve and timing covers that need a lot of attention on the outside), was thinking of getting an air-powered mini-grinder since most of my power tools have been moved over to pneumatic, but the shriek during sustained use kind of makes me hesitant. If this one sounds like my original Dremel did way back when, it’d solve one tool wishlist uncertainty ; ).

What would I use it for? What wouldn’t I use it for! I have so many project I need this for. I live in a log home and EVERYTHING is wood. While if most people in a regular house can repaint, I cannot. I have to sand and refinish, basically just like furniture. My first project will be refinishing my window sills where my cat has scratched them up by jumping on them. Next I would use it to remove the grout around a broke tile in the kitchen so I can replace that tile. Next I have a place by my shower where I had a small leak. The leak is fixed now, but I need to remove the base board and replace the bottom board. (The wall is tongue and groove aspen and of course the bottom board needs to be replaced.) And the list goes on and on, so pick me..pick me!!!

I cannot think of any specific thing I’d use it for, but it would come in extremely handy at work, making minute adjustments to interior trim panels, performing recalls, and other such tasks.

I’d probably take it home as well, so I could use it on my personal projects.

-Sand/Grind/Shape with the purpose of restoring the detail on my old house’s pocket doors.
-Cut an access door in my bathroom for my shower
-Help me cut/reroute some old piping.
-Help my friend remove some old broken tile in their kitchen.
