Dremel Moto-Saw Oscillating Hand Saw

Dremel is soon coming out with their Moto-Saw, a new power tool that’s got us quite excited. While described as an oscillating tool, the Dremel Moto-Saw looks to be a mini handheld scroll saw. But no matter how it’s described, the Moto-Saw has the potential to be a big hit with DIYers and hobbyists.

We use Dremel rotary tools on a regular basis and have been quite pleased with the steady tool and accessory improvements over the years. Dremel has also proven their ability to think outside their rotary tool comfort zone with products like their the Saw-Max and Multi-Max oscillating tools.

Dremel Moto-Saw Features:

The Moto-Saw is designed for cutting wood, plastic, and metal materials. From what we can tell it will be best suited for complex and curved cuts, but a fence can be added to facilitate making clean straight cuts.

  • Stationary bench mode
  • Hand-holdable for use on larger workpieces
  • Variable speed adjustment
  • Miter gauge for angle cuts
  • Adjustable hold-down near active cutting area for reduced vibration
  • 9-foot power cord (for great mobility)
  • Included vacuum dust port adapter
  • Tool-free QuickChange auto-tensioning blade change mechanism
  • Blade types: metal-cutting (MS53), fine wood (MS5w), wood and plastic (MS51), side-cutting (MS50)

    1) Where was this thing when I was coping trim?
    2) It says Dremel on it and comes in a cute little suitcase. I must own it.

Right now there’s no definitive ETA. You’re not the only one, I want to try it out, pronto! I have a few projects this would be perfect for, where larger tools would be overkill.

Thanks for the link! The saw is a little larger than I thought it would be, but still far smaller than a scroll saw.

You’ll have to check with your local Dremel distributor. Right now there’s no information about the USA launch and there’s noone I can ask about a Netherlands launch.

I just purcahsed one (03/01/2013). From my limited experience with it, I like it a lot! I left a semi lengthy review on the Dremel forum. If anybody is interested in reading it before purchasing one here is the link:

You can always check with European vendors to see if they’ll ship to your country. If not, there’s a chance that regular pin-end blades will fit, but the Dremel blades look to have more reinforcement.

Can you please let me know if this beautiful mini-machine is capable to cut “Name Plates” on less than 1 mm Sterling Silver Sheet, if yes will be great, I have “Carpal Tunnel” in both hands that make very difficult for me to do my job.
Thanks in advance for your fast answer.

It *should* be able to, but the only way to find out would be to give it a try. You could also try contacting Dremel to see what their recommendation would be.
