Dremel Rotary Tool Accessory Organizer and “Refill” Assortment

Dremel Rotary Tool and Small CNC Bit Organizer

Dremel has come out with a new rotary tool bit set and organizer bundle, presumably for the 2017 holiday shopping season.

You get a lot of “repeats” in the accessory selection, but that’s not what I’m really looking at – I’m paying more attention to the organizer/bur holder that it comes with.

Details are sparse, but it looks like it might have a built-in lazy susan base, for spinning your bits around for quicker access.

Update: Nope, I asked Dremel and they said the base is flat and does not rotate.

I’m not in the mood to squint and count how many holes there are, and the Dremel product listing at Lowes doesn’t tell you, so let’s just say a few dozen. It looks like they’re all the same size – presumably 1/8″, with no guesses as to where you’re supposed to store smaller diameter bits.

Update: It’s 7.8″ wide, 2.2″ tall, and there are 152 1/8″ holes. Thanks John for counting!

Dremel Rotary Tool Accessory Organizer Bundle Bit Assortment

Looking at the accessory assortment, you get some cutting wheels, polishing buffs, polishing compound, sanding drums, sanding discs, mandrels that go along with mounted accessories, as well as grinding and cutting burs.

It looks like a useful selection of frequently-used accessories. I see this more of a “refill” pack, rather than a starter assortment. I’m not sure if it makes the bundle more or less appealing to me.

Still, this will probably be a must-buy for me the next time I place an order at Lowes. I was going to say the next time I stop by my local Lowes, but it looks like parcel shipping is FREE right now, with no minimum order.

Price: $30

Buy Now(via Lowes)

I’m not classifying this as a “deal,” because I assume it was designed around $30 holiday deal pricing. So even though Lowes says it’s at the “new lower price” of $30, I have the strong belief that this is exactly the price it was meant to sell for.

It’s still a good bargain, though, or at least a good enough bargain where I plan to buy one.

Update: Be sure to check out what Jason says in his comment, below. He bought one and shared that it’s made of foam; from the images, I thought the organizer tray was made of hard plastic.

I need to get around to getting a Dremel.

It’s always on my periphery but it’s just never a priority. Which is weird, because I’ve had plenty of opportunities where one would have been immensely handy.

The Dremel 4000 kit is at a very good price at Lowe’s right now.

    Cool deal.
I use a Foredom – with their burr holder which comes bundled with some Foredom kits and is available separately (for as low as $15) – but listed here on Amazon:

152 holes. My OCD would not allow me to let this go unanswered.

    Outside ring – 47 holes
    Next ring – 41 holes

The Foredom one looks like it will take up a lot less space on my workbench too.

Would you recommend the 4000 or wait for the 3000 doorbuster kit for $50?

There are or will be deals on just about every Dremel rotary tool they have.

3000 series is compact and affordable
      4000 series is heavier duty
4300 series is the latest and greatest

As far as the Lowes Black Friday deals go, https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/lowes-black-friday-2017-tool-deals/%3C/a%3E ,

The 3000-series kit comes with a flex-shaft tool, the 4000-series kit comes with a detailer’s grip, not to mention the more powerful tool.

It’s hard to say. Do you want the smaller tool and can use a flex-shaft, or the more powerful tool and the accessories in that kit?

I bought this accessory kit last night at Lowe’s. Not their best work in terms of craftsmanship, kind of cheap actually. The blue disk is run of the mill foam rubber that is housed in a slightly more than flimsy tin tray. The center is a poly cup with a sticker on it. I collect everything dremel so I had to have it but unless you are in it for the novelty, or you are still using the regular sanding /cut off disks, it will be somewhat difficult to justify.

Oh. I thought it was hard plastic.

I will say in retrospect that the foam rubber is slightly better than average. I appreciate the opportunity to discuss things like this

You can get a ~4″ lazy suzan piece at ace for under $5 at Ace I believe. Mount it on the bottom, and vio-la!
