Over at Amazon, there’s a one-day deal (3/31/2016 only) on several Dremel starter rotary tool and accessory kit bundles.
These deals aren’t coming off as fantastic, but they still look to be quite good bargains.

There are 4 products and bundles on sale:
- Dremel 100 single speed tool kit ($29)
- Dremel accessory kit + flex shaft attachment ($40)
- Dremel 100 rotary tool starter bundle ($69)
- Cordless Dremel Kit with 2 Li-ion batteries ($89)
Personally, I strongly prefer variable speed rotary tools, as such a feature can improve the performance, results, or control when using different kinds of accessories. But I have also seen some great work from craftsmen wielding Dremel’s most basic rotary tool.
If you ask me, I think the Dremel 8220 cordless rotary tool is the best of all today’s Dremel deals. That and the accessory kit plus flex-shaft bundle would make for a great starter set. I wouldn’t buy a cordless Dremel as my first and only Dremel rotary tool, though. Rotary tools are one of their tools which you either use very quickly (which is great for cordless tool use), or for very prolonged period of time.

As much as these deals are value for money, if you expect a rotary tool to last you when using it for prolonged times I can heartily recommend looking at Proxxon’s offerings, the IB/E in particular. I wouldn’t know the prices on your side of the pond, but here in Europe they’re not that much more expensive than Dremel while the quality is definitely a huge step up. Quieter, at least as powerful, and a lot more durable.
