The new Dremel Versa Cleaner is a 4V Max cordless power cleaner kit. It’s rechargeable via USB and is said to be the fastest high-speed cleaning tool in the market.
Accessory changes are said to be quick and easy, using a hook and loop system.

There are no details yet about how big the cleaning pads are, or whether the Dremel Versa Cleaner is compatible with other brands’ accessories.
It’s shown to be capable of a wide range of household cleaning, polishing, and scrubbing tasks. Maybe it’ll also be useful for workshop tasks.
The Dremel Versa Cleaner comes with a few accessories and attachments:

Nice. Any word on IP rating? The Amazon description says “perfect for indoor and outdoor, dry and wet uses”, but it’d be nice to have a more specific rating.

Looks like a smaller, less ergonomic Black & Decker Scumbuster, but with presumably faster RPMs. I can’t understand why these devices don’t have shoe-shine pads as options, I’d love to ditch my corded Presto polisher.

Amazon has a picture of some guy cleaning up his sneakers with one of the pads. And it uses hook-and-loop to stick the pads on, so you might be able to improvise something with wool felt. I guess stitching up layers of flannel would be more work, but still possible.

I had the Scumbuster ages ago and decided it was just another gadget I didn’t need. You have to factor in the care for the tool, charging, etc. and at that point, just old fashioned elbow grease and a good spray-on cleaner with microfiber cloth or scotchbrite pad seems best. If you use scotchbrite pads in the shop for sanding, you can reuse those for lots of cleaning tasks, different grits, too.

and there are brush kits for them. which is how I use mine to clean the shower floors on occasion.
I’d like to see more cleaning accessories for OMT’s. I’d use that in a heartbeat too. doesn’t have to go in a circle.

I really don’t understand the need for speed, 5 rpm is faster than your hand. Higher rpm just slings cleaner where you don’t want it.
I would like a polisher of this size with an infinite speed control.

Is there a such thing as a micro orbital sander that fits in small areas, like the inside of a small routed tray? Something with like a 1 to 2 inch pad.

I haven’t seen one in a long time but I assume they still exist – 3 inch RO polishers.
where most today have a 6 inch dia pad space – – these had a 3 inch dia pad – ran on a smaller orbit with a smaller spindle.
Lately I see detailers using adapters that put a 3 or 4 inch pad on a 6 inch DA – I have one now too.

I’m not sure about an orbital sander quite that small, but there are two other options I can think of. There’s a Dremel, one of its sanding discs or wheels would be about that size, though they might be a little aggressive or too small for that usage. The other option I can think of is an oscillating multi tool, they make sanding “fingers” for them that would probably be about the right size. I don’t know of one off the top of my head, but there are accessories that can be paired with rotary tools, flex-shaft tools, or die grinders.
There are 1/8″ and 1/4″ shank backup pads that can be used with sanding discs 1/2″ to 5″.
3M and Norton have different quick-change systems with sanding discs 3/4″ to 4″ in size.

I opted to make my own, more powerful version of something like this for cleaning our shower and other scrub-work. Components included:
– A low-end Black and Decker cordless drill/driver with chuck, which cost about $30 (never used any more since I now have several Bosch 12v of tools)
– Round replacement dish-brush heads (with a hole in the center, available at Target for a few bucks)
– A 3″ x 1/4″ bolt, and a few washers and nuts
I haven’t experimented with any accessories except for cleaning brush, which works pretty well. I was thinking of using my Ridgid palm driver to power the contraption, but would need to replace the standard bolt with something that mounts in the Ridgid’s 1/4″ hex collet.

Looks cool but I wouldn’t think a 4-volt tool would have nearly enough power to do any serious cleaning. I came across a product called RotoScrub a few months ago which you can attach to your drill and it works really well cleaning my shower and tub. Stuart, this might be a good candidate for your next write-up. I have the scrub pad kit but it looks like they have a bunch of brushes too.

Non-Scratch Replacement pads are $9 ea. Set of three different= $31. The lop pad on the back of the comes unglued easily thereby rendering your $9 pad useless.
