These Mini Stackable Organizer Tool Boxes Look Better than Dewalt’s

Duratech Stackable Organizer Set

I found this DuraTech modular organizer tool box set on Amazon, and it looks similar to the Dewalt ToughCase system but with notable improvements.

There is a downside – it looks like you can only buy these mini boxes in a 3pc assortment, although maybe that will change in the future.

The set comes with one medium organizer and two small ones. They all have clear lids and customizable dividers.

I find it neat that the organizers have an auto-latching and push button release, rather than having to use the lid closure latch.

Duratech Stackable Organizer Set Compartment Dividers

Both sizes have removable dividers. The medium organizer box has a build-in divider down the middle, similar to Dewalt’s.

DuraTech shows off the boxes holding tools and small parts.

The case is made from polypropylene, and the transparent lid is made from polycarbonate.

Price: $25

The Dewalt ToughCase, despite having a flip-latch connection system, remains an excellent choice and decent value. Its price went up since I bought my last one a few years ago.

It features removable dividers and a clear lid, and you can also swap in power tool accessory rails that come bundled with other ToughCases.

While you can buy small Dewalt ToughCases separately, you’re on your own in making or sourcing dividers. You can also buy Dewalt accessory sets, such as a 14pc drill bit set (a great value at $10!), and reuse the ToughCase.

Buy the ToughCase at Amazon

I really like DuraTech’s features, but Dewalt’s system is also very good. The DuraTech system looks better, in how you have auto-latching and push button release, and dividers for the smaller cases, but not being able to buy the components separately could be a deal-breaker for some.

Dewalt Large ToughCase with MaxFit Drilling and Driving Accessories

Dewalt also has a large ToughCase, but you can only buy it bundled with an assortment of power tool accessories.

Like Workpro (makers of the bit driver set you recently posted about) Duratech is a Hangzhou Great Star company. Years back – Great Star was gobbling up defunct, bankrupt or struggling US brands like Arrow Fastener, Jorgensen/Pony, Goldblatt, Millers-Falls, Prime Line and Shopvac. They were also the OEM for some Kobalt and Husky branded items.

Interesting that I could not find these boxes listed on their US website.

They also own SK Tools. I believe they made some tools for Craftsman. SBD relies on some OEMs for hand tools they don’t make in-house.

Coming with the dividers I could almost see using it as a hardware holder. Can’t tell but does the big box have a handle

With half the internal height being the lid makes it less desirable. You can’t fit as much stuff before it starts falling out. Deeper bottom, shallower top, less crap falls out.

Pictures can be pretty and prices can be low but usability matters more.

Any idea if existing Dewalt dividers/bit holders fit in the duratech dovetails?

I bought one of those DeWalt cases years ago to finish off a gift card and it took me a while to find a good use for it. It turned out to work well for a set of spade bits that didn’t come with a case, my right angle bit holder, and a misc set of driver bits. As you mentioned. I think the price has doubled since I bought mine.

These remind me of Skil organizers.( Menards sell them). They come with drills or bit sets. Not sure if you can purchase empty.
