EGO is soon coming out with a new Power+ portable area light, model LT1000.
The new cordless floodlight is just one of EGO’s new lifestyle tools, with the other being a new misting fan that we’ll post about separately.

EGO’s new lifestyle tools provide high functionality while leveraging their existing battery system
This EGO cordless worklight is said to be the world’s most powerful area light with respect to the handheld outdoor power category.
The new EGO LT1000 worklight delivers up to 10,000 lumens of illumination and up to 35 hours of runtime with a 5Ah battery at lower power.
It has 4 folding light panels that can be tilted to either face your work or provide 360° illumination.
There are 5 brightness settings (600 to 10,000 lumens), and also selectable panel controls, giving users “ultimate control” over the area light.
Each light panel has a diffused lens, providing for softer light output.

In addition to featuring a wide base, the light also has built-in rafter hooks and tripod mounts for 1/4″-20 and 5/8″-11 connections.
The worklight is weather-resistant and designed for use indoors and outdoors. Its recommended operating temperature range is 5°F – 104°F (-15°C – 40°C).
It can be folded into a compact shape for storage and transport.
As a bonus, you get a USB-A port for charging electronic devices from your EGO 56V battery. According to the product manual, max output is 1.5A.

EGO LT1000 Area Light Brightness Modes & Runtime
Approximate runtime is with a 5Ah battery and all 4 panels activated.
- Level 1: 600 lumens, 36hrs
- Level 2: 1,600 lumens, 16 hrs
- Level 3: 3,200 lumens, 8 hrs
- Level 4: 3,800 lumens, 5 hrs
- Level 5: 6,400 lumens, 4 hrs
- Boost: 10,000 lumens, 3 hrs
When Using Boost Mode
The max brightness mode, “Boost mode,” illumination duration might be limited by temperature conditions.
According to the user manual, the light will illuminate at 10,000 lumens in ambient temperature 77°F (25°C) for about 1 hour and will run at 2 more hours in brightness level 5. It also says that Boost mode can operate with longer runtime in cooler environments and shorter runtime in hotter environments.
Basically, Boost mode duration depends on thermal conditions, and the worklight will dial the brightness from 10,000 to 6,400 lumens to prevent overheating.
There’s always a tradeoff between cooling capabilities and product size. In my opinion, being able to run the light at max brightness for ~1 hour at 77°F ambient temperature conditions is better than not having that Boost mode option.

As of now, there are just 2 EGO lifestyle tools – this new area light/worklight, and a new misting fan. They also have battery inverters and power generators that are incredibly useful.
EGO’s trimmers, snow blowers, leaf blowers – all of their outdoor power equipment that I’ve tried so far have been excellent.
I think that they are off to a good start with these new “lifestyle” tools, and I want to see more. EGO’s is an excellent battery system, and I’m eager for more tools, accessories, and solutions that can put these batteries to work when I’m not using their cordless OPE.
I think the runtime claims are decent, and I especially like that it can output 600 lumens for up to 36 hours on a 5Ah battery. This is with 4 panels activated, and so turning some of them off should help extend runtime by quite a bit.
Especially with the panels folded to 360° illumination mode, this might be a great light for camping or in case of a blackout.

Thankfully, God doesn’t pay attention to some of my prayers, like for it to drop a foot of wet snow in Ulster County NY, so I can finally try my new, unused EGO snowblower and see if it can handle it. With the two 5ah batteries, that is a lot of light and time with this light. I’m still waiting on the batteries for my 12v tower light I just bought and the delivery date from HD keeps getting extended. It’s been over three weeks since I ordered the light with the two 6ah batteries and charger. Got the light fast but no batteries. Might return it for this, though I would like both. The tower is so compact and the light head is protected for travel. If I can rig the EGO light on a light stand, that would be great for painting. Didn’t notice the temp/color balance of the light.

Funny you should mention the Milwaukee 12V tower light.
I finally got mine yesterday here on the west coast.
Last night I set it up and turned it on.
My 4 year old folding 18V Bosch lights are both brighter, easier to transport (I use aluminum folding C-stands and have a sharper and wider coverage field. Plus the self contained stand/light assembly is fair short and physically heavy.
Now if I Craigslist the light and keep the M12 6 Ahr batteries I just might not return the whole set afterall.
Can’t decide. Yet.

The Bosch is a floodlight not an area light, and isn’t outdoor power either since its jobsite. So I tend to think the claim is correct, because even Makita has a 10,000 lumen light, but same thing.

In this day in age, 1.5a coming out of the USB port? They should have time to retool this and add USB-C and a higher amp USB-A. At that rate, it may prevent some phones from further draining.
It looks so well thought out, and then it’s like they transported an engineer from 2000 to finish up the details.

Good point about the USB-C ports being MIA.
I’m actually now replacing a bunch of Leviton Decora duel USB-A receptacles with the newer USB-C models. Wall warts, even color matched ones, are so butt ugly.
As for 2000AD vintage there’s still a fair amount of that design spec hanging around.

If they wanted to go fancy including a Qi charging pad would be amusing.
The Milwaukee powerbrick thing has both A and C which really seems to be the way to go moving forward (at least for awhile) as A is so common but C can handle much more power.
I read “Boost Mode” as “we designed it for X and then realized it overheats so we made it tune down in that case” – probably why the M18 tower lights have such large heatsinks.

With 10 000 lumen at 3hrs run time mode and rafter hooks… this light can double as a tanning bed. Ego to supply the goggles.
Plain grainy
The Bosch 10000 lumen light has been selling at$280-$300. But the Bosch is a connected light. Ego, with their mowers & snowblowers have some well designed products.

It’s hard to justify one of these when you can pick up a 12k lumen Husky light for $25 right now. Yeah, not battery powered, but a 500 watt inverter and 100′ extension cord for those rare times you don’t have power, is definitely gonna be cheaper.

Surprisingly I’ve found that my cordless lights have been some of the most useful tools I have. You “have” to bring the drill or whatever tool with you – but if the light is a corded hassle you often won’t bother and end up working in dim conditions.
If the light is also cordless it’s a grab and go – becomes second nature.

This light looks great. I have an Orange (Ridgid) cordless 3 panel light that I got a few years ago. It works ok, but the ergonomics are terrible. Basically the natural place that you would grab is it where the touch controlled power button is so you end up turning it off/on when you possibly only intended to pick it up.
With that being said, I’m not looking to get into another battery platform. If there was a way to make a yellow Flexvolt battery work with this light then I’d probably buy it. As it is I’m looking to get rid of my orange light. I only have 2 orange battery powered tools (the light and a cordless belt sander). I’m not aware of any other major tool company that makes a cordless belt sander so that’s why I have the orange one.

Ryobi has a cordless belt sander too, and Makita filed a patent for one last year. But no word on if the Makita will be 18V LXT or 40V XGT.

I think there are adapters for Ryobi to Dewalt and I already have an adapter to go from Dewalt to Makita. I’d prefer Makita since I already have that adapter. Thanks for the info.

Never hurts to have a compatible light for any battery. I have an EGO trimmer so adding another light to power in an emergency on a battery platform I own is fantastic.

the whole charging port discussion is funny. OMG it doesn’t have usb c pd 100W or thunderbolt 5 or . . . . . . . . . . . .
anyway nifty idea if I had ego stuffs I’d consider one as the it’s a bad day light. I could see that being really useful with just 2 panels on in a small room or a tent.
