Facom Ergotwist Screwdrivers - Cabinet Tip & Stubby

Continuing with our favorite screwdriver week, let’s take a look at Facom’s Ergotwist Combination screwdriver set. I have a 16 piece set of these Ergotwist drivers, and consider it to be my all time favorite. The handles are of a bi-material design that features an impact resistant top and softer grip for comfort.

When holding these screwdrivers, the weight and balance is unbelievably comfortable and they give me a feeling of invincibility when wrestling with any screw. The tips are sand-blasted to prevent slipping and are CNC machined for exact tolerances.

Although quite expensive, they are worth every penny. The 16-driver set includes 10 slotted and 6 phillips screwdrivers of which 3 are stubby slotted and 2 are stubby phillips. These Facom screwdrivers are made in France and are at the top of my list for good tool investments.

I’m not sure that you can find it anymore. Facom’s Protwist line seems to be the successor to the Ergotwist, but availability in the USA seems to be a bit scarce as well.

Yeah, they are hard to get here in the US. I had a friend send me my set from France. Occasionally, you can find a st on Ebay. I have seen them there before.

JML, yep, that’s why we linked to the Ultimate Garage in the post – they’ve got amongst the best Facom selection in the USA, and their prices are disclosed upfront.

Love these screwdrivers. My collection probably represents just about half of the sizes that were available at one time, not including torx drivers:

The Ergotwist line has BEEN DISCONTINUED from FACOM. The new line is called Protwist and are not made in France (Czech Republic). Also, they look and feel different from the Ergotwist line.

The first time I grabbed the Ergotwist I was impressed with the large, contoured square, gripping surface. The balance was great, too! The smooth surface of the ball end of the screwdriver is an advantage most of the time.

I’ve read that they don’t hold up too well with chemicals though.
