My favorite thing about Channellocks is that they remind me of helping my father with his tools aty a young age. I was the “tool gopher” between the toolbox and the work-to-be-done – Channellocks were the first “unusual” (Not a screwdriver, hammer, etc) tool I learned the name of (So dad could ask for something more descriptive than “wrench”).

This would be a fantastic Father’s Day gift for my dad, as both an excellent set of tools and a way to make amends. As I roamed his garage as a young’un, I did some things to his tools that I’m not proud of. Lesser crimes included mixing things up and not putting things back where I found them, but some of the more capital offenses included leaving a set of wrenches outside overnight (in North Carolina, where metal will rust if you let it look out a window to the outside) and using a set of feeler gauges to pry on something. I eventually learned better, and man, if someone did those sorts of things in my garage I’d be tempted to flay them alive, so the fact that I’m still here and have all my skin speaks to my dad’s patience. This patience would be well rewarded with a nice set of Channel Locks, which I know he’d put to good use keeping his fleet of outdoor power equipment running to maintain his big-ass yard. More importantly, it will give my son something really quality to try to destroy when he visits Grandpa!

Mostly, I work on early Fords. So, I’d be using these on a 1920 Salt Flats inspired T roadster, a post-war style 1926 Ford Roadster, and a mid-fifties traditional hot rod 1930 Model A coupe.

i love all the channellock tools i have. I use the newest version of the rescue tool a lot on the fire scene and even came in handy during our own tornado disaster. I use a lot of different tools at work and find i pick up my channellocks before i pick up anything else for pliers. They are a great product and i still use a pair of linemans from about 60-70 years ago when i install wiring.

I remember when I was just a lil trash, I would “help” (mostly get in the way) my dad working on the family vehicles. I remember that he had a big, blue handled, straight jaw, tongue and groove pliers. I believe they were the 460 but I may only think they were that big because I was littler then. He would often give them to me to that I could go “work” on something while he tried to finish working on what he was doing.
We don’t often work on stuff together anymore because he lives in Florida while I am in Texas. But when he’s in town or I am down there, we often turn a wrench together. But I still cherish those memories of using the ChannelLocks way back then.

The best thing Channellock did to make their product stand out in hardware stores or a big box stores, was to use that special “Channellock Blue” for their handle coatings. When you pass them hung on display, they literally jump out at you. There can be a display of dozens of red, green, yellow or gray handles on assorted tool brands, but the Blue always grabs me. I usually end up making a purchase of a type or size of plier or wrench that adds to my collection of these fine tools. They’re also the first brand I reach for when taking on a repair or maintenance job at home or on my car.

I’m a kinda young guy, just completed my first yr of college. I’m trying to become a machinist. I love making things out of metal, and I hope I can do it my whole life. (Can’t wait to own a mill or somethin at home!) I spend my time making very precise parts, and trying to better myself every time I do a project. I spent a ton of money on mostly precision measuring tools. Starrett is probably my favorite. American made. Something to be proud of. Just like the Channellocks. When I go into a store and see those blue handles I’m so familiar with, I get a sense of pride from it. Kinda “out there”, but it’s true, ya know. It’s not only produced in the good ole’ US of A, it’s made in Pennsylvania, and I’ve in the city they’re made. I really appreciate American made stuff (70% of my tools are American, by cash value), and these are no exception. My micrometers were 130, so were both sets of calipers. However, they’re very touchy and you have to be careful when using them… not really so with the Channellocks. They’re really my first tool, my dad bought me some 442’s when he was around here. I was rather young, but I’ve kept them in every tool box I’ve ever had. They get me out of so many jams, they’re worth 100x the price. In my box, filled with shiny tools, calipers, full polish wrenches, and the like, they look out of place. They’re rusted. Abused. But still somehow perfectly functional. I love them. I’d like to win the set to give them to my father. I haven’t seen him in forever, probably not in 5 months or so. It’s not really distance, he’s not that far away. But we just don’t have that father to son connection. He calls sometimes, but that’s about it. I’d love to give him this set, and hopefully reconnect a bit in the process. It’s long overdue. I know that’s kind of off-topic, but I felt like sayin it. I remember him usin Channellock stuff all day to work on things around the house with me. Probably why I still have mine, where ever I go. In my mind, Channel Lock is synonymous with time tested and honored quality. Made in the USA is a bonus, as well.
Recently, I began to purchase Channel Lock pliers after recommendations from others. Even though the vast majority of my tools are Craftsman, I prefer Channel Locks over similar Craftsman pliers. It is not for the blue handles, it is for the quality, plain and simple. They feel good in your hand and provide plenty of leverage when needed. I have never had a Channel Lock fail me, either.
I have one drawer of my tool box I dedicate to Channel Locks. Slowly, it is getting filled up.

That would be an incredibly handy set for me. I am an industrial plant mechanic and I use a REALLY heavy old canvas tool bag to carry my tools around the plant. That set in a roll would be a tremendous help for running to those quick jobs rather than lugging that heavy bag up and down the stairs.

Well call me stupid but, I call all tongue and groove pliers where called channel locks. Hand me the channel locks! That is how I was taught. When I first was exposed to channel locks when I was a kid I thought that was the name of the tool, not the brand. I never had anyone ask me what was a channel locks after I ask to pass them. I think it is like scotch tape or coke…. you just know that it is the best. I remmber a friend working on his car and he used a “channel locks” not channel lock brand to put around a large nut and vice griped it at the handles and hit it with a sledge hammer and it broke in two pieces (bing, ting ting)…where did it go? We then went back into the house and took his father’s real “channel locks” brand channel locks and repeated the procedure and got the bolt off. It was that big bolt off the front of an axle of a plymouth horizon.
I would use the tools with my 3 year old daughter who loves tools and wants to build a go kart.
I like the sight because it has big pictures so i do not have to click on everything to look bigger also, the site seems to be pretty quick on bringing up the details.

I love Channel Lock pliers, I have always been impressed that they still are the go to for many people, myself included. I use them primarily for straightening out edges of panels like wheelwells, hoods, and the like in my bodyshop. I need them for electrical work. Someone stole my toolbox at a job site. It had a lot tools and some of them were Channellock. I want to replace them with some more Channellocks like the ones I had because they were good quality and held up to hard use. Plus, they’re made in the USA. I don’t buy foreign unless I have to. Iv been using Channellock tools since I was a kid. It seemed like my dad always had a pair of tongue and grove pliers in his back pocket when I was growing up. I didn’t even know that a “pair of Channellocks” wasn’t the proper name for the pliers until I was around 20 years old.
I work in the oilfield and I was constantly having to carry 2 different adjustable wrenches due to the size of adjustment bolts. I bought a CodeBlue adjustable wrench and it’s been my most used tool. Im so glad they made an adjustable wrench that opens that wide so now all I have to do is carry on wrench around with me.
If I win the tools I’ll Ill keep them out in my shop and teach my 2 young sons how to use them and keep them mounted low enough so they can grab them when were out in the shop and help out dad.

Father’s Day is coming fast and I’m looking for that PERFECT gift! Here I found the one tool my husband can not go without! He loves channellocks cause they are well rounded, they come in every size and work for everything even a stripped screw! Here this one tool I can say almost never leaves his hands! He’s been a plumber for about 7 years now straight out of high school and does it very well, supporting both myself and our 2 boys. He leaves the house everyday with your BLUE handle at his waist. If I were to win this contest I’d likely end up using the tools the way that I currently use many of my tools—to fix some of my friends’ things as way to thank them for the good beer and food that they so often offer me when I’m over. In one particular friend’s case he’s not really a tool and hardware sort and I often get invited over for beer, food, and helping him set stuff up. In the near future—provided that I win these—I’ll likely help him replace the pressure regulator gauge on his beer keg’s CO2 tank as the movers managed to mangle it (especially annoying since I was the one who helped him install the regulator and gauges in the first place). I’ll probably wrap the nut with a cloth to prevent marring since I know that these pliers have a pretty tenacious grip and are made of far, far tougher stuff than most fasteners.

I am a sub-contractor, and most of the time I am not the only contractor on a job site. I would use these to replace some of my hand tools that have seemed to “walked off the job site” Normally the summer is my busiest time but I am getting ready to have knee surgery from a work related injury and I cant afford to spend any money on replacing tools right now unfortunately.

I have used the Channellock water pump pliers and cutters for many years. They are tough and made in the USA. I have not had to contact for customer or warranty service.
They are also of excellent value and I buy them as gifts for many. As a mater of fact, I just bought the three pack (440, 420, and 426 )from Menards today.
