Are they groundbreaking? Trailblazing? There’s got to be a good pun in here.

Festool Flip-Flops

The new Festool summer sandals will be available in 3 sizes – small, medium, and large – and come with a mesh storage bag.

Flip-flops that leave the Festool brand name in the sand – what’ll they think of next?!

Festool Socks Worn with Shoe

Please, whatever you do, don’t wear them with your Festool socks.

Festool Outdoor Systainer with Cups and Hat

As a reminder, Festool’s limited edition outdoor swag set hasn’t sold out yet.

Trying to make inroads in the S. Asia “safety sandals” market or spread that culture to the West?

Nothing wrong with being a fan of tools. Intentionally buying an item because of the branding isn’t for me, but I’m not out to yuck anyone’s yum.

Branded merch doesn’t phase me. With these, the “leave your mark wherever you go with our logo stamped soles” part raised an eyebrow.

Then there’s the mixed messaging of a power tool company selling open-toed footwear. It makes about as much sense as gas stations that sell beer.

In show business there is a saying that goes, “Any news is good news”. Meaning, if a movie star gets their name in the newspaper for something negative, the net outcome is still positive. It keeps that person relevant and on peoples minds. I’m convinced that marketing departments across all sectors are embracing that same ideology. And with todays social media and internet, it works better than ever. Whether a tool company puts out a questionable meme, or offers flip-flops, it’s going to get noticed in the right circles. The internet will do the work for them.

I’ve never touched a Festool product and don’t suspect I’ll ever buy one. But I definitely know the company exists and hasn’t gone stale. Today I read about Festool on the internet. (And sheesh, even took time to comment) Somewhere, there is a marketing team, high fiveing each other on a mission accomplished.

I’m surprised there aren’t more companies making logo imprint shows

These are obviously not intended for safety but I’ve been considering getting some Japanese tabi shoes to do work in the garage. Perhaps some steel toed ones, but only if they’re easy to take on and off, breezy and comfortable. Anyone have experience w those?

Hey, it could be argued that Festool’s sister company Tanos invented the modular tool box.

I have no problem with stuff like this.
All sorts of companies do that all the time.

I just fail to see where I would wear these where they would actually would work like intended except at the beach.

Companies release branded merchandise all the time. But what caught me as strange is that Festool is known for being a high-end brand whereas these look like something you’d buy at the dollar store. When I first saw the thumbnail image from the article on the main page my thought was: oh, Festool has a fancypants new sandal. I was expecting something special in some way: maybe a hyper-ergonomic design, maybe an emphasis on being eco-friendly. But nope, this feels like a branding mismatch to me.

I’ve seen footwear co- branded with DeWalt, Makita and now Milwaukee, but they are all work boots.

Flip flops is a bit of a weird fit for Festool.

As someone who has proudly been wearing Reef flip flops since my dad took me surfing as a kid, I think I’ll stick to what works. As has already been pointed out, these look incredibly cheap, even for sandals.

I have a pair of Craftsman slippers. They have wrenches on the bottom. They do not have steel toes. This appears to be in a similar category.
