Fiskars Cuts + More Multipurpose Scissors

It’s hard to be excited about scissors, but Fiskar’s new “Cuts + More” looks to be incredibly versatile. It features wire, twine, and rope cutting areas, a bottle opener, and a take-apart knife design for easy cleaning and single-blade use. Even the sheath has multiple uses – it features a built-in sharpener and a hook designed to rip through taped-up box seams.

The knife blade is black titanium-coated and has a pointed awl tip for making holes. The scissors are 9″ long and are dishwasher safe.

The Cuts + More will be available at the end of the month for about $20. Needless to say, I’ve already preodered one!

If you haven’t already seen them, Home Depot has a set of titanium coated scissors. I believe it’s a pack of 4 or 5 scissors. Seems like something for the scissor enthusiast.

I believe I saw something like that in the holiday section. To be honest, I’d rather have one pair of quality scissors than several pairs of somewhat capable but less robust scissors. Hopefully the Fiskars don’t disappoint.

Currently I have several pairs of office scissors and multi-purpose (retired metal-cutting) shears.

I bought a pair of Kershaw shears that I actually have yet to open. But I found their take-apart capability desirable after my last pair of kitchen shears got all gunky at the permanent pivot joint.

That’s nifty. I’d love to buy one of those for work to keep in the control room, but I know somebody would just walk off with it sooner or later.

Yes, this is exactly what I’ve been wanting for years! I’ve often thought to myself, “Why aren’t there scissors that have a slightly altered cutting edge angle so that they can be taken apart and used as a knife?” Then again it was inevitable considering Fiskers and Gerber are now the same company.

However, I’m seeing the bottle opener as a potentially dangerous addition even if you’re not opening it with the point side towards you. Any idea if the sheath’s packing tape hook is any good at opening “clam-shell” style of blister packaging?

I just opened mine, and the handle on the long side seems very small. I’ll give them a day to see if I like them, might return based on comfort.

Maikeru, sorry for missing your question. No, the packing tape opener won’t be good for blister packaging. It’s simply a semi-sharpened plastic hook.

Dan, I did feel that the handle was a little on the small side, but the scissor’s other flaws led me to return it. Even though I purchased it at a discount, I wasn’t at all happy with the scissor’s design or performance. I’ll write more about this in an upcoming review post.
