Gerber’s new Microbew features a water resistant LED light built into a bottle opener. The Microbew has a stainless steel body, recessed switch to prevent accidental activation, replaceable batteries, and regulated circuitry.

Gerber Microbrews are available with either white or red LEDs, and should soon be available at retailers for $12.50.

The only concern we have about the Microbew is that friends who borrow it might not be willing to give it back.

It’s for convenience I supposed. Two functions in a very compact tool.

Think about it, the two tools most commonly needed when nobody has one are flashlights and bottle openers!

The most common for me are nail clippers, but I never carry them with me!

Hey Stuart, you are right about needing a flashlight when you least expect it and nobody has one. I learned to carry one with me all day while working, keep one in my truck, and keep a couple at home. I also keep one on my key chain. I can’t tell you how many times all of them have been used.
Last year I bought a Dorcy Rechargeable Spotlight to keep in my truck. I only bought it because it was on clearance. However, I couldn’t imagine what I would use it for. Then one evening (just 3 weeks after I purchased it) I was at a friends house and low and behold, her dog got out of the fenced yard. I used it to help look for her dog, while I drove up and down the streets in the neighborhood. I found the dog about 2 blocks away in someones front yard. I haven’t used it since but it’s there If I do need it.
