Gorilla Glue has updated their 2oz bottles with a new anti-clog air-tight cap. Why are we excited about this? Because we’ve had our fair share of cured-glue-clogged caps. It’s not a pleasant feeling to get everything ready for a repair or DIY project only to find out that the bottle of glue is practically unusable.
The new 2oz Gorilla Glue cap features:

- ergonomic wing nut grip for easier opening and closing
- air-right precision seal to lock out air and mositure
- stainless steel pin that fits into the tip of the nozzle
This is something you’ll want to look for in-store to ensure you get a bottle with the new cap and not one with the old style. In cases like this it’s best to see what you’re buying.

Finally! This will cut the ‘effective’ price without all the waste of dried glue.

Is this new design still Made in USA?
Stuart
Absolutely! I have a sample on my test bench, and it does still say Made in USA.

I have a 2 oz bottle with the new cap. I seem to have the same problem as before. The metal pin in the cap became detached from the cap and fastened to the bottle opening. I cannot get the glue flowing even after pulling out pin with pliers. Very frustrating indeed.
hunter
me too how do this work
Sue
The pin is in the bottle of glue. Now what do I do to have the glue come out of bottle?
Anon
I was able to get the metal pin to stick back onto the cap by screwing the cap back on as tight as I could. It seems like there’s a certain point where the pin attaches itself and you can feeel it as you’re twisting it tight.

this is the first bottle I’ve purchased with the new cap and I had the same problem. Pin is stuck in the nozzle. No way to get it out. Thousands of hours of testing and I guess it never happened then, only after purchase.
James
My pin got stuck in the lid but I just tried something. I pulled the pin out. Then put a hole in the top of the washing nut pin, and inserted the pin from the top. Hopefully the pin is still long enough to effectively stop the glue spout from clogging

Being lurking 🙂 around for some time now and figured it’s high time to contribute something. What I usually do with my partially used bottles of glue, super-glues (cyano-acrylate ?spelling?), silicon sealant and the like is that I put them inside air-tight plastic bags and place them inside the refrigerator. Naturally the missus is not very happy but then the glue does keep very well there. And for quite a long time too.

Help I bought wood glue from B & Q it has a different nozzle from that shown in video how do I open it and store after
Kevin
This is really pissing me off. Is that pin supposed to come out IN/WITH the twist off cap? If so, it’s not. You’d think these idiots could add a few lines of instruction to the bottle/packaging.
Stuart
It’s supposed to be physically fixed to the cap.
P Toliver
the caps must have been created by someone’s kinfolk with a degree in plumbing because it sure as hell wasn’t in packaging!!
Eric Paul Shaffer
Yup, the pin is consistently left in the bottle instead of coming out with the cap. Nice design–not.
Jeff J.
Waste of money with that ‘great’ design, only the thought counts!
Liz
The glue was used once and now, when trying to open it again, the little metal piece has separated from the lid and is stuck to the top of the container — preventing me from using the glue. Extremely frustrating!!!
Daniel
Same as others: pin separates from the cap and stays stuck in the hole; and it’s obvious why. Not a well thought out design; and perhaps inadequately tested. Bottom line: it just doesn’t work.
Judith Bergman
dang I can’t get the pin out
alicia
steel pin stuck in the bottle.
Elizabeth
First time opening the pin is not attached to the top and won’t come out of the bottle.
Complete waste of money, can’t even use the glue once. And can’t find any solutions online. Gorilla Glue has a great reputation, yet I won’t be buying again.
Burton Abbott
Yep…..total waste of money….pin stuck in bottle with no way of getting it out…..
Claire Marcino
I have the same issue. No longer have receipt for purchase. It would be nice if you would send a new one with a cap that works so I can get the glue out of the bottle. No good right now…
SC
Same problem – on first opening the cap , the steel pin is in the bottle, immobile. TELL US HOW TO GET IT OUT, so that we can use the glue!
Brian
A pair of pliers worked for me. Is annoying as now I need to keep track of this pin separate from the bottle cap.
Judith Bergman
Finally got the pin out, which had a little yellow (glue?) around it.
The glue is dried out solid. Never open, but the shelf for a year or so. Not happy.
Some product!

I have had the same issue as others. My solution: cut off the clogged portion of the tip. Clean tip after each use with a bit of wire or the end of a thumtack. This should extend the life of this Gorilla Glue bottle, and preserve your sanity, at least for a short time.
Dennis
How do you dislodge the steel pin?
Lisa
Use the back of a hammer (the nail pulling end) to get the pin out – worked for me!
Alvin S.
I pulled the pin out with alligator type pliers. When I re-inserted it in the cap, it stayed put. I just won’t tighten it up much in the future.
